hey man im doing this too right now. just wondering how you went from teh first pic with all the left over tar to the second pic where everything is nice and smooth.gregfarz78 wrote:
ah I should've explained better...soak an old rag in some paint thinner and the leftover tar crap should just wipe right off it might take a little elbow grease but the paint thinner dissolves the leftovers so it looks clean like in the second pic240ingthe240er wrote:hey man im doing this too right now. just wondering how you went from teh first pic with all the left over tar to the second pic where everything is nice and smooth.
right now mine looks like the first picture and i dont want to paint over it with the left over tar pieces
I got the 62 sq ft roll it will probably be just enough to do the floor and doors and maybe 4-5 sq ft of ensolite should do it, ran me around $200 not bad and much cheaper than dynamat. If you want to do a little more than I did def get the 100 sq ft roll you'll need it.robojew wrote:Very nice work man. This is pretty much the exact thing my ride will be going through next summer.
Also, I was looking into the RAAMAT and was wondering how much RAAMmat and Ensolite you ended up using? Love the details!
Hammer and chisel for some of it, its painfully slow doing it this way but it works. The torch can soften it up a little bit just don't overheat it and burn it. I did about half the car that way and got tired of that so I picked up some dry ice, that was simple just dump the dry ice on the sound deadener let it sit about 10-15 mins and it freezes it enough it'll chip right off with hardly any force. Search around some a bunch of people used the dry ice methodJesusGLS wrote:Hey man... I am amased in the work you have done to your car. I am about to start with the paint in my car and would like to do the same thing to my car. I was wondering what materials did you use to do that (I see you used dry ice and a tourch). What did you use them for? And of course how do you do all this. I would really appreciated if you would help me out. THANKS!!
The undercoat was in a spray can, I used rust bullet on the floor pans and I just brushed that onMagnumP_I wrote:Hey I already striped my car an I was going to buy dry ice but I was just wondering when you painted it did you just use spray cans or do you have some type of spray gun?
i had that same carpet in my car. and i hated it. the fit is ok at best. i pulled it out, threw it away, and went and found some nice pignose carpet.gregfarz78 wrote:Tonight laid down a layer of raamaudio ensolite its a closed cell foam to help absorb some more road noise
BTW got the carpet here http://www.auto-interior.com/
True the fit is decent but any aftermarket carpet isn't going to fit perfectly, I think it will look fine once I get all the trim back in etc. I wanted black carpet and brand new its hard to find OEM carpet not beat to hellheartofaskyline wrote: i had that same carpet in my car. and i hated it. the fit is ok at best. i pulled it out, threw it away, and went and found some nice pignose carpet.
