My 240sx to 350sx restoration/conversion build thread

Guess its about time I do one of these I've had the car since april its no where near done but I've made some nice progress so far.

Before I bought the car it was rocking a 450hp SR and looked like this

The previous owner who owns his own shop building some badass cars stripped it and planned on doing a VQ swap so I got a low mileage engine and 2 z33 6 spd transmissions off him.

good way to clean the underbody of a car lol

delivered in april like this filled with parts

First step was to clean it out and start stripping that nasty tar, cleaning up any surface rust (which there was barely any), and paint with undercoat

got tired of hammer and chisel method so got some dry ice

nice!

I used Rust Bullet on the floor pan and DupliColor undercoat everywhere else

B-quiet on the roof

rusty dash support vs clean dash support

why not paint this too

AND this is where it stands right now with Raammat sound deadener, carpet is on order should be in next week hopefully

Between work and house hunting the past few months its taken a while I started stripping her down in may and just finished up the rammatt this past weekend so a few months. Sounds like a long time but I only get to work on a few hours a week and I'm working on a few other small related projects at the same time. I'm really in no rush to finish so I want it to be done right. Luckily I didn't have to deal with any rust issues or it would've taken a lot longer, this car came from texas.

Excellent work. I'm now inspired to get mine in similar condition over this winter. I'll definitely be paying close attention to this thread to keep me motivated.

Very cool, good attention to detail. Once I finish my motor, I will be doing the same thing. Looking forward to the end result.

Good Luck, Speckid

Dry ice makes fast work of that nasty tar crap let it sit a few mins and it chips right off, if you can't get dry ice near you get out the hammer and chisel and go to town for a few hours have plenty of beer handy too
