Well to start I drove my truck to work this morning. I try to make it a point to drive it once a week to keep things like the battery and what not alive. Well, cars like hondas think for some reason, that just because it's a truck, I'll drive docile and get out of their way if they're being a prick.

Well, I came into town this morning doing 75mph, so I didn't really give a **** what was going on behind me. Well for some reason the little riceburned civic decides to ride my ***. And I mean literally a matter of inches off my bumper. Now let me point out the slow lane is pretty much open and he can pass me on the right any time he wants.

Well, when I get a tailgater, my policy is to slow down. For 2 reasons. First, I get the pleasure of pissing him the hell off. And more importantly second, if he does something stupid, it'll happen at a safer speed. Well, he didn't get the hint. Later up the road the speed limit turns to 55. I slow down to 45, and I see an opening and pick it back up to 55; Kind of my way of saying, 'if you back off, I'll do the speed limit'.

Well 30 seconds later he's right on my *** again. At this point I'm a little annoyed and I want to piss him off big time. Well, the streach turns to 55 because of an up coming stop light. To piss him off, I decide to break check him a little bit. Not much, but enough to let him know that I'm no push over.

He's obviously a complete retard, because instead of tapping his breaks to back off, he slams them. And as I come to a stop at the light, I look in my mirror just in time to see a Cadillac come to a sudden stop behind him. Now I'm thinking, nah, he didn't just get hit. Well I was wrong, they pulled off to the side of the road and the caddies plates were messed up.

I can't help but chuckle because if he'd either backed off, or just gone around me, he wouldn't have gotten tagged. But, just in case he did take it personally, I'll be driving my car for a few days.

For those of you too lazy to read, in short:I'm driving my truck. Was being tail gated while I was speeding.I slowed down to punish him.He didn't get the hint, so I tapped my breaks. He over reacts and slams on his breaks.I look into my rear view mirror just in time to see him get rear ended. He could've passed me the whole time.I'll be driving my car for a while, incase he decides to take vengeance.

I hope you get a chuckle outta this, 'cause I sure did.

I believe the logical thing to do would have been to move into the slow lane and let him pass. That would have spared you the annoyance and spared the other two cars their crappy situation

For your info, the ONLY law I broke was speeding right off the bat. It's not my job to get over if I'm doing over the speed limit in the fast lane. I didn't cause the accident, nor was I involved in the least bit. I barely tapped my brakes to get him to back off. If he'd had a brain He'd of just done the same.

Seems to me, your one of the many little d!ck that think because you want to do 90, everybody has to get out of your way. Sorry, but the world doesn't revolve around you, and if you're an a$$, I won't oblige you, ever. I don't give a **** in the slightest if he got my plate number. Let him report me, I didn't do a thing wrong. If you want to get into a flame war, don't bother.

And marlin, young, latino with a baseball cap. Red civic, Super shiny 17-18 inch rims with a 3" fart can off the back.

The left lane is for passing, so if you weren't passing anyone you should have moved over. You can get a ticket for riding in the left for too long so...

When I had my truck, I'd get the tailgaters off my *** by moving over onto the sholder, pelting their cars with a nice mixture of stones and mother earth. They'd either pass me or drop back to a reasonable distance.

I just don't understand the idiots that will hang on your bumper for miles, no matter that you're in heavy traffic, can't go any faster and there's no where else to go.

I've been rear ended 3 times, over the years and don't care for it to happen a forth time.

For the record, I'm an experienced driver who always lets people pass in the fast lane. As a result, I haven't caused an accident.

Besides, if you pull over and let the idiot pass you, then he'll see you flip him off in his mirror and you can have the satisfaction of seeing him get pulled over up the road. Revenge is best served cold.

Believe me, if I want to start a flame war, I'll pick a more challenging opponent. Your original post did all the work for me.

Good luck and safe driving!

I'm with Encryptshun on this one... 75 is NOT fast and if the slow lane was open that's where you should have been. Not forcing other drivers to pass you on the right...

yea, i understand what your saying man, but honestly just move over if someone is going faster than you, the whole situation could've been avoided.

this past weekend when i went to cleveland to visit the nsr crew, i was probably going faster than 95% of the drivers the whole way there and back, never once did i stay in the left lane for more than 20 seconds...everybody on the highway knew that the left lane is for passing and the right is for driving in, if i was coming up on someone in the left, they would move over immediately, that's the reason why i got to cleveland in 4 hours and safely....stay in the right lane, unless your passing.

Ummm... No. The left lane is for faster moving traffic, not passing, although it's commonly used for passing. And, no, at least in California, it's not against the law to drive in the fast lane unless you're a rolling roadblock, which I was speeding so I wasn't.

And if both the honda and the caddy had been paying attention, no accident would've occured.

It seems the a lot of you have never driven in California. Most drivers drive over aggressively and usually quite dangerously. It's not my job nor is it in my nature to give them what they want just because they're pushy.

Edit: One thing I wanted to clarify. It seems that I slightly mislead saying the right lane was clear. There are a couple of on ramps putting some periodic slow cars on the road. But was open enough for a quick pass if he'd wanted too.

You are a retard. Its a federal law, drive in the right pass on left. Its stupid drivers like you that cause accidents, And look you did, And that caddy was probably two old people and you probably almost gave them a heart attack.

Hahahaha, I wouldn't dignify that with a responce but I think you need to check the driving laws again. 90% of driving laws aren't federal, but controled by the state. And I'm sorry, but it's legal to drive in the fast lane as long as you're moving faster than the traffic in the right hand lane. I made an edit to my post above clarifying that slightly.

I find it odd, that because 2 cars that should've been paying more attention in the first place get into a fender bender, some of you are trying to place the blame on me. I just didn't give in to a rude and aggressive driver, and I know 90% of you have done similar (maybe with different results).

You want to know who's truely at fault here? The Caddilic, it's law that you keep a safe distance between you and the car in front of you, just in case it does come to a complete stop like the honda did.

Contradiction much? you went from not giving a **** to intentionally trying to throw the honda off... and that ended up causing an accident.

Driving is a privilege, and I could have sworn it was based common courtesy but the needs of the stubborn ignore the many.

Stay right, pass left.

Personally I've only driven through 14 states.

It was a law in EACH one. You sir, are an annoying driver yourself.

OP is a douche. I drive in So Cal and get those idiots (op & Honda) all the time. BTW, 75 is not fast here. I drive 80 and have to get over 1 lane to let ppl pass me EVERY DAY!

Yes, I hate ppl who tailgate when you obviously can't go any faster and letting them by wouldn't improve their situation. But you shouldn't hold up people who are obviously more comfortable driving faster than you. Passing on the right is bad.

And also, you broke two laws. In California, you must not impede the flow of traffic, i.e. hold ppl up who want to go faster than you, regardless of speed. You also left the scene of an accident being a first hand witness, which is also illegal.

You sir, are worse than douchey ricers in hondas who tailgate. They're more easily dealt with, speed up or get out of the way.

You broke the law.

You're a menace to the motoring public.

Let me guess something else...

You probably think you're a good driver although you've never had any track time or formal training...

You can't see any reason for a "slower traffic keep right" rule, so your pompous a$$ chooses to ignore it...

You can't foresee a reason why someone might NEED to use the fast lane to do 90, so you play "Freeway Tycoon" and cause an accident...

Would you have pulled that crap if it was a black Crown Vic tailgating you? If not, then you are indeed a douche.

Glad we could educate you on "Driving Courtesy 101". Have a safe and pleasant day.

According to the California Driver Handbook Right of Way Laws, “There are times when you must drive slowly because of heavy traffic or bad weather. However, if you block the normal and reasonable movement of traffic by driving too slowly, you may receive a ticket. When you drive slower than other traffic, do not drive in the “fast lane. Move to the right when another driver is close behind you and wishes to drive faster.

California Vehicle Code

21650. Upon all highways, a vehicle shall be driven upon the right half of the roadway, except as follows: (a) When overtaking and passing another vehicle proceeding in the same direction under the rules governing that movement.

21654. (a) Notwithstanding the prima facie speed limits, any vehicle proceeding upon a highway at a speed less than the normal speed of traffic moving in the same direction at such time shall be driven in the right-hand lane for traffic or as close as practicable to the right-hand edge or curb, except when overtaking and passing another vehicle proceeding in the same direction

(b) If a vehicle is being driven at a speed less than the normal speed of traffic moving in the same direction at such time, and is not being driven in the right-hand lane for traffic or as close as practicable to the right-hand edge or curb, it shall constitute prima facie evidence that the driver is operating the vehicle in violation of subdivision (a) of this section.

So, yep - Illegal. Pay your fine and take your points.
