1. check valve, adjust them if you need to.
2. put new gaskets
3. check your bushing, or possibly upgrade to polyurathane bushings
4. ummmm.....basic Maintenance.
theres many things you can do, with your project what are you really suppose to do? just work on your car or what?

I demand a write up on the rear suspension, and a write up on the rust in the wheel well. I'm going through the same **** right now lol.
We'll i haven't started on the rear suspension yet but the rust.. well all i can say is damned salt states..
tools: basic tool set(to remove wheel, strut, ect), Grinders(rent, buy or borrow from rich friend
), Sanders, welder(borrow?), way to cut metal, undercoat, think thats it.
here it is before i even touched it,
first remove the wheel, remove the strut, unbolt the hard line to soft line holder thing.
i then proceeded to get a medium sized hammer and smash out all of the lose metal, wear safety glasses..
I hooked up my little air grider with a 40 grit pad to break all the loose metal up.
ended up with this..
Then brought out the big guns, electric grinder, and let the sparks fly.
Sorry for the blurry pic, im wasn't taking it
but the goal is to get to good bare metal, go as far as you have to. and i now see that the hard line must come off, this was all wensday night. Thats as far as i got. Next steps would be remove hard line, cotinue grinding, make patch out of cardboard, transfer patch to metal, cut metal, tack weld for fitment, weld, undercoat, retap holes for hardline?, and enjoy.
and ps thats not even the bad rust... muwhahha
both quarter panels

the trunk...
and yes i can stick my fist through my car, and end up in the trunk..

Got the valve cover off, everthing looks good. No heat scoring or anything off. Too bad thats as far i got.

got the injector plugs off, using this nifty pick. but lost 2 of them to the great abyss(aka intake manifold)
prior to removal of the fuel rail i had to disconnect these rubber lines to what appears to be part of the EGR system. The Vavle was all gummed up with carbon and the line was ripped and filled with carbon. Do i need this, what should I do? And would this cause a rough idial when cold?
i got the fuel lines off and the rail came off easy, and people who say the injectors are hard to remove, I don't know where your comming from. Mine allmost fell out, who knows.
So tommorow will be start on the valve seals. I know theirs a write up but the pics are bad so Ill be sure to takes lots of pics for that guys write up..
Take er ez guys

when people refer to injectors being hard to remove, they are refering to the wonderful nissan side feed injectors. they come one the de and most newer nissan engines, except the rb26dett, that always used top feed. top feed can leak more easily that side or galley feed injectors. at least thats what you would believe when trying to rationalize why nissan would use them as you cut swear and bleed while removing them. consider yourself lucky. and the car is coming along nicely.
they are not hard to remove you just have to know how to do it.
i can remove all 4 in under a minute (assuming the fuel rail is off the engine) without straining or damaging anything.

this is a supplement to the DIY SOHC Valve seal replacement found here:
http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/203057 written by EBUD1. NOT BY ME!! IM just adding pics!! Edub I PM'ed you!
(the () are what I've added)
Quote, originally posted by Edub1 »
1) Position car on clean hard surface – IMPORTANT ( No pics here simple enough)
2) Remove valve cover (8 10mm bolts using a 6 inch extension.No pics!)
3) Remove rocker arm assemblies leaving cam in place(okay, 5 bolts a side with washers under each bolt. Use your 10mm with extension and break them all free.
I then spun them all lose by hand and removed them 1 by 1 laying the bolts and washers in removal order.
then carefully remove the arm assemblies and set them in a clean area and put a clean rag over them.)
4) Remove spark plug and screw in air hold tool(using a spark plug socket remove 1 plug.)
(then using a fitting off of a compression tester screw the hose into the spark plug hole. Then connect your air line, our shops max PSI is 130, so its seems perfect enough.)
Removing the rocker assemblies will close all the valves so there is no need to rotate motor. Compress cylinder to 140PSI as per FSM. 120PSI worked fine for me.
Thats as far as I got, we did not have a valve spring compressor that fit my motor. My instructor will be bringing one Monday, so until then that's paused.
Got the clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, on
Got the fuel rail assembly done, new orings, insulators.
and back to bushings, for the rear sub-frame.
My bolts looked nasty, so a good dousing in PB was in order. I work for a Nissan dealer and have done my share of altima/maxima sub-frame recalls and know never use a cheater bar on a sub-frame stud. I got a 18mm deepwheel, 6 inch extension and 12inch 1/2 ratchet and went to work. Suprisingly 3 out of 4 broke free with this method. The other one I used a torch to gingerly warm ONE side of the nut, not even glowing red just warm. The bushing was not even hot. be carefull, if using heat.
(sorry for the blurry pic, only 1 i have.)
When you look at your bushing you have 2 big ones and 2 small ones, the bigger go in the rear and smaller in the fronts with the washer in between the bushing and plate.
Again sorry for the pic, it will seat the whole way in, if not it just needs some "help" in form of a pry bar and swearing. Other than that torque to specs. Same for the fronts.
So this week was okay, Looking for pant after winter break, so goal next week isto get her running. Need the tranny back in exhaust finsished, engine finished and clutch bled.. hmm busy busy..
Night

when you go to put the rear control arm bushings in CUT THEM IN HALF, just like the front. when i did mine i put a hack saw in a vice pointing up and sawed each bushing in half. but if i were to do it again i would use one of those wooden miter boxes bc its almost impossible to keep the cut straight when doing it by hand. oh yea search for the 'slotted rear control arm' trick so you can get proper alignment specs since your lowered...

And then remember this big nasty one?
Before...
After some very fancy bends and nice craftsmanship by my long time body GIRL.. you get this..
a few more hours with the body hammer and she'll be good as new!
I actually have a straight Pinch Weld!!!!!

In case I never mentioned this.. I don't do body work and tried once and sucked.. I'm having my good long time friend, who is a girl, do the majority of the body work... so yea lol
Next up is this monster of a hole..
and sadly the only actual body damage.. the rest is damned rust..

Yea got the gas tank all clean and reundercoated.. boooring..
Okay the good stuff, here she is in the truck waiting for school.
Got it off the pallet and on the ground, so we can pull the tranny..
Got the trans off and scored a sweet Veil Side shift Nob!! which was actually in really nice shape.
Pulled the clutch and flywheel, good shape, it looks like theirs more rust than their is heat abuse, probably was sitting for a while. And Its an Exceedy and Lightened Flywheel! Double Score!!
Here you can see the clutch and its not in to bad of shape, but I'm probably gonna resurface the flywheel and use my new clutch off my old motor.
Nissan Pride FTW!!
Another sweet goodie!! APEX-i air filter!!
Money shot, the turbo feels so freaking nice, spins freely and ZERO movement/shaft play/ whatever!
Heres my next set of questions tho, I got the ecm with a sticker on it and the MAF wires spliced. Is this a bigger MAF?
another shot of it, sorry for the shotty pics, its a 4 pin set up.. any comments on what it is??
And finally the ECM, with its sticker, is their a way to see if its chipped? Anyone ever here on D-Tech working on CA's??
And my next Problem/ question, I found this plug right next to the Oil Filter and this nipple right under it, which appeared to be leaking oil, is this a removal of the dummy light and the nipple is for a oil pressure gauge???
And we had just enough time to pull 1 valve cover where my greatest joy came, the cams looks SO NICE, no scratches an no gunky in the cover!
Yea the oil was light brown, didn't smell burnt and no metal or anything, pulled all 4 plugs and they looked great, harness was in awesome shape and everything was included. So overal I say I made out allright.

I got the motor set from a shop in canada, I took a risk and I think it payed off, I'll know for sure once shes in. Their website is http://www.sunrisejdmmotors.com/ which sucks. They also sell on eBay, where I bought it from http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...&rd=1
actually their selling another motor, but it looks half as good as mine. So I think I took a chance and lucked out. But I called and they were nice, they even were honest enough to show a sensor they broke, which was part of the A/C. The warenty is 30 start up with head and block covered. I won't reccomened them just yet but so far its looking awesome.
And the total was $1349 shipped to where I work, because we have a fork lift. So just be careful and ask a junk load of questions! good luck

The hatch, notice anything missing???
Its looks so much more cleaner.
Drivers side.
Whats this, a CA18DET?
Mounting the 'cooler
The end result of a long day..
Notice the horn mounting?? lol
Other than that the interior wiring was easy, but I'm having trouble figuring out the engine room harness.
The intercooler is mounted I need to make the hole for the cold side piping and get a 2 inch coupler for the turbo to IC piping.
The trans is in and everything under neith the car is done, minus the sensor wiring.
The checklist of stuff left would be to Finish the IC setup, Start the engine room wiring, mount the PS lines and resivior, mount the batt in the trunk and sort out the vac line for the butterfly system. anlong with reinstalling the gas tank and exhuast. Other than that I'm off to OBX for a week leaving saturday to relax and lose my wnter tan

The motor is coming along good, today i finished the wiring and put the interior back together. The intercooler is mounted up and the hot side piping is done, but the cold side pipe next to the TB is for an SR. So I'm in need of that pipe for a CA motor.
The checklist for the motor would be to:
-Finish the Intercooler (waiting on a new pipe now)
-Mount and install the power steering setup (Lines, resivor, ect)
-Install the gas tank pending a broken bolt( the bolt broke on 1 strap)
-Install the downpipe and cat back exhaust
-Mount the battery in the trunk
-Install the BOV
-Reinstall the bumper and crash bar
-Double check all vacuum lines and wiring
-Hook up the oil pressure gauge wiring and boost gauge
-Repair a broken brake line(auto body broke it)
-Cross fingers and hope for best
Anyways on with some pics.
The drivers side wheel is now done and undercoated.
the whole car is in the process of being DA'ed and sanding imperfections
The pass side fender inside er underneith thing done and undercoated.

Just kidding.. but I'd love to meetcha and see it before I finish the semester and go home.
Do you cruise Scalp Ave ever? It's kinda lame, but I go out once in a while to mock some ricers.

OMG dude I live right off of scalp, this is like the first time i ever knew anyone who actually had a nice car and cruised. Yea im right off the road near dominoes pizza and richland lanes. And if all goes we'll it will be done in 3 weeks. And their are SOO many ricers out this year, its horrible. Imagine a black Hyundai elentra, auto, lowered and an evo style body kit with the 2 HUGE fog lamps in the front and not to mention a 6" tach.
I can't wait to drive again. But yea I never really fit in with anyone on scalp, we should deff. cruise together soon.
Hey any chance your going to Carlie? If so we should deff. car pool, im going up for all 3 days leaving on friday.
good to hear from you.

Yeah, I been there seen that.. Even worse in my opinion is the 6cyl 1995 body style Mustang with Z3 fenders, and missmatched bodykit parts, who only knows how to turn on his "angel eyes" and fog lights at night, not his headlights, even while racing up and down scalp. I couldn't resist so I made an *** outa him infront of all his friends at one redlight, IN MY 95 ALTIMA which runs like ****.

My 240sx is in the garage also. No sick motor like yours, but It's getting a nice clean look.
I don't know about some 240sx owners, my previous owners really messed the 240sx up. Dings, dents, missing window motor tracks.. etc...
If you need any wiring help let me know!!! I work at the Best Buy in state college as a install technician.
Come on up!!! I have pictures of my progress floating around here some where....
I needed alot of welding, in the engine bay, and we did a front body conversion... so that was alot of welding and body work.
But definitely I'll keep an eye on this and we have to meet up some time.
Steve Stark.. ( The 240sx with the Skyline R33 conversion is up here... along with a couple other 240sx's)

Well heres what happened tonight.
first i went to walmart to get some supplies.. little did I know what lie in wait. why a early 90's Honda Accord 4 dr. Whats this baller 17's and omgosh super low profile tires, not to mention the race gold bumper and body puddy just hanging out. I always see this car but never get a chance to take a picture of it. Just thought I'd let you know how Johnstown roll's
Jdm no side markers
Anyways, todays goal was to scuff up my old wheels to be painted black with a chrome ring, to do this I had to remove the gay silver..
As you can see this had to be done by hand and took a good while..
Sometimes it got very intense lol
here is jill doing her body thing and doing a wheel, while putting on a "special" face for NICO.
Anyways, i ended up using some 80 grit by hand to remove the clear and just "scuff" the wheels up so the paint would stick. Their going back to sitting till the car gets painted.
If anyone else cares I got 4 16x7 wheels for my truck and 4 31" BF Goodrich Long trails!!
Those will be mounted tomorrow, seeing how auto body will be closed for a day.
and finally I actually think I forgot to take some pictures of the finished product. Sorry guys, I guarantee they'll look bomb when painted tho

Car wasn't that bad, treated him well for about 3 years, it wouldn't pass inspection so he bought a 2005 Maxima SE 6 spd.
Anybody could smoke those Accords though.. My buddy ran a 17.0 in his with i/h/e and he's not a bad driver.

So far I'm happy to see it one color, as in I mean, to see all the body work covered up. Its really quite awesome just thinking back to when all the holes were their. Its a hundred times better.
That it for now, I'm wishing tat the first coat of paint will be on around friday, but we'll see how the other half likes that. Other than that the motor still has a few vac. lines that need hooked up. I had her cranking and got a few putts ou of her.

This is 3 coats of midnight blue but NO clear, the only clear is on the door jambs, which has 3 coats of clear.
As you can tell the more clear the darker the paint gets.
So for now the paint looks dull, but jills painting clear tomorrow.
Also their are no pictures of jill painting the black, which was done first.
Sorry.
SO this is the first pic of the black paint done and masked off.

This is the first coat of clear.
Masking the wheels.
The final product, 3 coats of paint and 3 coats of clear.

This is the wetsanding of the blue overspray

And the application of the Nissan midnight blue.

a little surprise to spice things up.

the black stripe running along the whole car.
it may look purpleish now and the reason being is the clear darkens up the paint as noted by the door jambs.

My cars a blacktop..

thats it tomorrow is clearing the car, painting the front bumper wheels and misc trim then final wet sanding and then shes all mine..
It really has come along way body wise and I'm really proud of the work jill did. look for us at the carslie show!

Is this the first time Jill has painted a car? Not bad at all. I would like to see the black all the way to the bottom of the car for the two tone look rather than the stripe, but it is afterall your car. You can tell I like two tone. I think the hood looks awesome.

Yea... THAT shiny...
And a little finishing touch to let all the boys who who made this car sexy..
Other than that, Nissan Midnight blue is drop dead sexy.. I mean like sex with the sexiest paint ever sexy....
On the other note, the CA is still not running. Im taking the car home this weekend to put her back together and hopefully get her running.
Im having this problem, when i first connect the battery the egi and egi pump relays (as labeled in the fuse box I believe them to bee the ECCS relay!) click like mad, and as soon as I crank the car they stop, also the brake light and seat belt lights stay on ALL the time even when I remove the key. Any of you swap gods, can you please let me know where and whats wrong with my wiring. PLEASE!!! lol
thanks and peace!

Just wanted to say thanks for all the wonderful comments. I aappericate all the support NICO has given me.
I have the CA running at 10psi dyno'd at 201 RWH. Stock set up.
I had the car at carslise, running with NICO.
The car ran great all summer and got 2nd place at NOPI pittsburgh.
Its currently undergoing maintence work(timing belt, water pump, leaky turbo gasket) And wide *** end flares with 3 inch wheel spacers.
Also some hello kitty silk interior work is being performed.
It'll be hitting up the show circuit and drift track all next year starting with NICO at carslise 2008!!!!
thanks guys!!

Yea I'm still here guys, just lurking around. Just installed my walbour and FPR. And replaced a leaking Manifold to turbo gasket.
I've also installed a set of koukis, JDM front signals, police scanner, and shocker sticker :P
The car is ready for another season and is going into the body shop in around 1-2 months to get touched up and the skirts and bumper painted, and LR quarter fixed. But it will be at Carslise and Jill will be coming with a little surprise of her own.
87 conquest TSI...

HVP, on a scale of 1-10, whats the difficulty in getting the upholstery to form to the molds on the door panels?
Actually, when I took that picture it was the night I had just started putting on the fabric.
And its actually real silk, and at 11 bucks a yard it better be..
Its not really hard in the sense that i over lapped the whole insert then cut and trimmed the material to fit the door pan, I also did the headliner and glove box.
Just buy a GOOD upholstery glue and prep the surface with a rubbing alcohol of sorts to clean the glue and junk off the door pan.
Then spray your glue and start pressing in the material to the door then with a good razor trim the excess. let sit for a day and your home free.. JDM interior! Just take your time no rush and itll come out fine and if it doesn't pull it off and re glue!
