Thinking about buying a Q? Check this out!

This is the FAQ thread....

First of all, welcome to the worlds best Q45 forum!!! Q45 is a great car, one that is very much underestimated (and for whta you get, its a great bargain).

OVERALL, compared with other luxury cars that cost roughly $50,000, they are the cheapest to maintain and operate. Very few failures of parts that isnt related to neglect or old age...

When you buy a Q of ANY year, plan on spending some cash on getting it right... Plan on changing every fluid in the car (brake, tranny, diff, oil, blinker etc, etc) and changing every wear part (shocks, all rubber suspension components, brakes, tires, spark plugs, filters and engine hoses) before you think about doing anything else.... Q45s are NOT a turnkey car, they are going to need some attention to make them reliable. Once theyre running right, they are very cheap to operate and keep running right. They are very desireable because compared with other luxury cars, very few components fail....

Check out http://www.q45.org for many other articles and things relating to Q45s.

If you own a 90-93 Q45 and you have not heard about the "chain guide" issue, then click the following link. Do not proceed until you do this, you're engine could be toast the next time you turn the key!

Not trying to bring down the spirits of future Q owners but my brother purchased one a while ago and the repair and maintenance costs where unbelievable. But if you have alot of money to use on repairs and you want to own a cool unique car, than by all means go for it.

Nah. The parts, even new from a dealer are still inline somewhat with typical Nissan prices, and if one has a "Pull A Part" locally, they can get anything for their Q for pennies on the dollar. My local one has 2 right now, fully intact other than the AFM's and fuel pumps (240 kids rob those). Due to the being rare, they tend to sit unmolested in such a place.
In addition, the engine is layed out relatively simple as is most of the car, so virtually anyone can work on one. Try to say the same about any other car in this class.
