Can anyone tell what big is going on in this engine bay? (aside from the interesting color scheme).....................When I first saw this pic I thought, "hmm..clean install, lots of $$ in it, attention to detail, not liking the color scheme but whatever, wait... , why on God's green earth would you put that POS on the motor you spent so much money on? ..............Remember kids, just say NO to FRAM Oil Filters

Lol, yeah, I spotted it right away too but wanted to "add to the suspense" . That thing sticks out like a sore thumb. I use Purolator Pure One or Wix.

They are quite possibly the worst excuse for an oil filter that exists. Maybe that's why my rebuilt SOHC died on me. I too used to live in a time when I thought FRAM was a good filter. Then I did research on the interweb after hearing so many people talk smack about them and found that they do indeed suck azz.

I think I remember reading in another thread about this that it was a temporary thing or something. Maybe.

this is why fram is the worst.first they have the worst filter media on the market. It deteriorates before you get 3,000 on it ,as well as the micron rating is nowhere the o.e. design.Second they usually don't have an anti drainback valve.Third they have the highest defect rate ever.Wix ftw but purolator and mobil one are good as well.

At first I thought maybe it was the oil filter too but I don't know anything technical about oil filters. Yeah what is wrong with FRAM. I use the pureONE filters. Don't know if that's a bad thing.

pure one. hands down the best filter for the buck. i am a manager at a advance auto parts and i always try to sell the pure ones or standard purolater over the frams or even our home brand "basically fram"

Not Another Fram filter argument....

I always buy whatever filter is the cheapest I can find. I actually have had 1 oil filter fail on my in my lifetime and it was one of those super expensive Mobil 1 filters. Ive read seen the posts online about how the filters dont filter as well and I really could care less. Im not sure if everyone knows but Fram is a subsidiary of honeywell, the same honeywell that Garret turbos is part of.

In anycase whether it be Fram, Wix, OEM Nissan, OEM Honda, OEM Mazda, STP, Bosch, Napa, Mobil 1, K&N whatever, the chances that your engine will fail because of the oil filter is slim to none. Id say your chances of an engine failing due to lack of maintenance is waaaay higher than having an oil filter failing and causing your motor to die.

I was to distracted by the hideous paint scheme. But once I read that it wasnt that I realized it was the Fram crap.

Wow I dodn't know FRAM had such a bad reputation...good thing I changed my oil early on my 89 Max...that's my original baby next to my 240. I noticed the oil filter but I was looking at the dirty Power Steering tank. Suprised no one else pointed that out which also stands out in a "clean" engine bay!

One of the sickest built sr motors I ever saw used a fram oil filter. Of course the guy said he didn't care what kind of oil filter he used cuz he changed the oil like every 200 miles or something crazy like that. Meh
