Wouldn't recommend pulling in reverse. Great way to damage transmission as reverse is weakest gear.
oooo! I didn't know that. then how are we suppose to pull something out? i read in the manuel that's the only tow hook you can pull something out with. the rear ones are for tie down only.

Went ahead and layed on some yellow tint over my fogs

And then I chopped off this resonator/secondary muffler thing, replaced it with some 3.5" galvanized steel all the way back. Sounds a lot deeper now.

Did an oil change with Mobil 1 5w30 full synthetic and a Mobil 1 filter. Also aired up my spare tire and rotated the ones on the ground.

Then I discovered wonderful body rust in multiple places.... :tisk:

Started working on my homebrew snorkel and installed my Jackson Autosport "missing link".

Sometime this week I gotta cut into the fender :ohno: to pull the Intake hose through and connect to the external part of the snorkel. :woot:

So yesterday I installed new shocks and struts. I bought the Gabriel Ready Struts and shocks. The struts were a bit pricey $149.00 each but they are complete unit with a new spring, bearing, top nuts. Total spent was bit over $400.

I bought replacement nuts from Nissan, but I misread the parts diagram and thought the shocks used the same nut top and bottom, the bottom one is different so i ended up re-using the old one.

I was not prepared for the amount of effort the swaybar connection ball joint took to release on the passanger side. 17mm nut that litterally would not budge to a 500ft torque wrench, tried neigbors snapon impact and cracked the husky 17mm socket I had. Bought a impact socket set and still the snapon impact could not break the nut free. Finally used a 2ft breaker bar and my 300 pounds to get it loose.. One of the other 21mm nuts on the lower strut was hard but the rest came off pretty easily.

It no longer springs like crazy on bumps so well worth it.

I have successfully completed the snorkel for my Pathfinder.

The hardest part was cutting. Had to use a Rotozip and around 11 cutting disks. I still have to get the edge-guard put on the edges of the opening but it is already on and working beautifully. Sorry, I have no photos of the work as I did it over a few days between work and kids. I have yet to install the edge trim (can't find it anywhere) hopefully that will be done in the next two days. Later on, when I have more $$, I will buy a proper snorkel head.

As you may or may not be able to tell, I already crossed a puddle. IT was deeper thank last time I went through it and the water came over the hood and splashed the windshield. I freaked out.

Stopped on the other side and to my surprise, (wasn't sure my job sealing the box was all that good) the interior of the airbox was bone dry! Woohoo

Total cost was $50.00

I have attached a couple of photos. Kudos and many thanks to RedDog of PCoA for his idea and templates!

I've yet to understand why Nissan would put in this function, but leave out a way to CLOSE your windows with the remote.

Nice exhaust overwest, i might be getting the pathfinders done soon, getting the cats cut out and straight piped, no resonator/muffler/ just glass packs and dual out.

On the other hand my X5 4.8is factory exhaust is a beast and im going to be doing the resonator delete and electronic cutouts before the mufflers that way i can lower the sound when i need to but otherwise, another guy has it done on his and you hear him well before you see him, sounds awfully mean.

Heres stock sound:

Changed my in cabin air filters today.
3 years since the last change. They were pretty black, but not as nasty as some I've seen on here.
Checked the air box while I had them out, and it was still pretty clean in there. Whew.
Next on the list is getting my snow tires off. Hopefully next week. After that, a major cleaning, inside and out.
Summer can't come soon enough.

I'll probably be slowing down on posting in this thread because I feel like I've spammed it out the poopoo hole but I managed to change my spark plugs today. Not before snapping one of my coil packs in half. :( Surprisingly, it still works. I'll see for how long though. That one on the end is from the drivers side, very back. Spark plug #3 I believe. Any idea as to why it's drenched? Me and my pops figured that it was overflow from a bad oil change.

Couple of things to check/think about: The oil and sludge on that plug looks like it's been there for a while.
Definitely doesn't look fresh. Check the valve cover and see if there's a leak above the plug.
The other concern is the top of the plug, the contact nipple. It is black/corroded. The other plug contacts are nice and clean in comparison.
Might want to check that particular plug (the new one you put in) about a month from now and see what it looks like.

@ Overwest. Could it be oil that dripped in there and was trapped when filling up after an oil change? I figure that any excess oil touching metal would have been burnt off, but since the top is surrounded by plastic maybe it wasn't burnt off.

Most definitely. That's what I figured may be the issue. When I go to pull apart the engine again to do the water pump, I'll get a better look around most likely. And that'll be on my list to do next month for sure.

That was the assumption as well. My pops and I figured this was somehow close to an overflow for the engine oil so it just ended up draining into the spark plug well.

Umm, you know you can open AND close the windows by using just your key in the drivers door lock right???
You don't even have to get in the truck that way.

hooked up battery to a charger/Maintainer...took 5 hours or so for it to be fully charged
I did this this weekend...
I dont use the pathy much and worried that the battery is gonna have an untimely death...(2 weeks in a row)
Also my sis was passing by and I offered the car if she needed to go anywhere...she ended up not using it...

Its just a Everstart Walmart battery....and its an OK battery...it doesnt do so well in maintaining a 12.4-12.6 voltage....it hovers in 12.1...but it was good in winter and started the car fine....eventually if I start putting in my subs Ill probably go buy a Diehard platinum...and do a Big Three upgrade

Just installed K&N Filter. Now I'm trying to figure out how to custom a shield!

Anyone knows what the "hose" circled in RED is? it was connected to OEM Airbox. Fuel vent???

I can feel the QX4 sucking in lots of air now!

Hey nico911411,

Looks nice! I've seen filter shields made out of clean paint cans. The ones I've seen have been for snorkels but I'm sure it would work nonetheless.

Adapter from inlet hose to bottom of paint can, screwed and siliconed/glued in to make it air-tight, hole in paint can to match the hole from adapter.

Adapter for filter screwed and glued to top of paint can. Filter tightened to adapter and top of paint can can then be clamped shut on to paint can. Can also be opened to clean/remove filter.

Lastly, a small hole and glue the little nib onto which that hose with the red circle attaches to. It is a vacuum/vent line that attaches to the top RH side of the plastic box. It draws clean air from the top of the airbox. Paint can can be...umm...painted to match the colour of the car and then attached to the car via large clamps to prevent it from vibrating loose. Just a thought... :gotme

Pain is right! I was going to take mine off, to fix a dent and cut the hole for the snorkel hose.. ended up scratching that idea and cutting the hole and painting it with the fender on.
