Lake Tahoe, here we go!

A drill certainly does speed up the process, but there may not be clearance for a normal one. I use a right-angle 9.6V Makita so no clearance problems.Towncivilian wrote:Today I reinstalled the engine undercover. The thing's just gonna come down again in 2k miles for my 5k oil change, but it's not that much hassle. I really need to get a drill to speed that up, but the Pathfinder's is nothing compared to my mom's G37 which has like 20 fasteners and 3 clips holding up the engine undercover.

After several months of casually checking craigs list, finally found a QX4 being parted and was able to pick up the needed running board.
It was a different color so ordered a spray can of the correct color and a clear coat, taped off the step parts, painted the trim and put the refurbished running board on last night.
$50 for the used running board and $40 or so for the paint and sandpaper. Also picked up a passenger mirror so able to use the paint on that too and will install the mirror soon (too replace a broken casing)

Nice! I was thinking of dipping my grille and badging too. Love the stock meshies you got on there too. Wish they had em in a 20", then I'd consider getting a set.Yazir wrote:Plasti Dip! I hate chrome...![]()

Today I swapped the o-rings on the oil cooler and replaced both belts.

Wouldn't recommend pulling in reverse. Great way to damage transmission as reverse is weakest gear.skiski329 wrote:Just got back from pulling out an acura MDX. They (younger kids) were trying to off road in the park across from my house and got about 5 meters in and just started to spin there wheels. while i warmed up the pathy, they were smart and had a snow blower in the trunk and started to clear the way. it didn't help cuz they had so much snow under their car that the wheels would not grip, so i went over and gave them my tow rope and told them to hook it up, and drove over and pulled them out. I used 4 hi in reverse and started to slip because the roads weren't plowed yet. I put the trans into neutral and then tried to get into 4 lo (never used 4lo before) but it didn't want to go and i did not want to force it or break it for an acura so i pulled up forward 3 feet, then reversed it and that gave them enough force to pull them out. i'm going to try to get into 4lo tomorrow. MDK -1 Pathy +1
EDIT*** Got it into 4 lo today. what i didn't know was that when your in 4 hi you have to push the 4 wheel drive shifter toward the floor then pull toward you. I was just pulling the shifter toward me hoping that it would keep going. but this system make tons of sense, so you don't pull to far on accident and get into 4 lo while not in neutral.
