Replaced my seat belts at Nissan of Reno (lifetime warranty) and mounted a set of studded Mastercraft Glacier-Grip II - 215/75R15.

Took advantage of the 60 degree weather and I washed it. I also cleaned all the windows, inside and out, as well as using some professional cleaner to clean some tough road grime off the hood/bumper/grille area. Also cleaned up the interior and bought some new wiper blades.

I have a lead on a pair of subwoofers and an amp, so I might have some small scale stereo equipment going in as well here soon.

I really need to get a drill to speed that up, but the Pathfinder's is nothing compared to my mom's G37 which has like 20 fasteners and 3 clips holding up the engine undercover.
A drill certainly does speed up the process, but there may not be clearance for a normal one. I use a right-angle 9.6V Makita so no clearance problems.

Adm. Linda's Passat Wagon has four or five Dzus fasteners. It's really easy to remove.

Today I got the Pathy a wheel balance and an alignment... Drives so much better, next up will be my knock sensor and my o2 sensors that keep sending a SES code.

After several months of casually checking craigs list, finally found a QX4 being parted and was able to pick up the needed running board.

It was a different color so ordered a spray can of the correct color and a clear coat, taped off the step parts, painted the trim and put the refurbished running board on last night.

$50 for the used running board and $40 or so for the paint and sandpaper. Also picked up a passenger mirror so able to use the paint on that too and will install the mirror soon (too replace a broken casing)

Installed the mirror yesterday. No more bent running board and no more cracked side mirror. My paint job on the running board turned out better than the mirror but mirror still passes as blending in as if it were the original - and not broken.

Installed an Alpine CDE-136BT head unit with a Metra Axxess Steering Wheel Control Adapter and two KYB Gas-a-Just rear shocks. Just waiting on the bearings to do the front struts.

Nice! I was thinking of dipping my grille and badging too. Love the stock meshies you got on there too. Wish they had em in a 20", then I'd consider getting a set.

OEM remote died 2 + weeks ago.

Was using the key no problem but now the driver side lock doesn't ground out when unlocking to turn off the anti theft.

Every morning at 6am in the morning I would set off the horn because I forgot about the wonky lock.

Walking around to passenger side or back gate to unlock became a real PITA.

Tried pulling fuses to keep the anti theft from auto arming, but all attempts failed.
Didn't feel like ripping apart the door panel so i decided to short out the hood pin and now the anti theft doesn't arm anymore. :chuckle:

Thanks a lot man! It's easy and the matte finish looks really nice.

The only issue with the wheels (I also like them a lot) is the width, 6.5 inches, which is under spec for a 265/70R15 tire (7" to 9"). Some people say that it's fine but I prefer not to try. So I'm just getting a set of 8" steelies and I might as well get a set of 31's while on it. "It" meaning eating top ramen till the end of the month in order to pay for this stuff :yesnod

Just got back from pulling out an acura MDX. They (younger kids) were trying to off road in the park across from my house and got about 5 meters in and just started to spin there wheels. while i warmed up the pathy, they were smart and had a snow blower in the trunk and started to clear the way. it didn't help cuz they had so much snow under their car that the wheels would not grip, so i went over and gave them my tow rope and told them to hook it up, and drove over and pulled them out. I used 4 hi in reverse and started to slip because the roads weren't plowed yet. I put the trans into neutral and then tried to get into 4 lo (never used 4lo before) but it didn't want to go and i did not want to force it or break it for an acura so i pulled up forward 3 feet, then reversed it and that gave them enough force to pull them out. i'm going to try to get into 4lo tomorrow. MDK -1 Pathy +1

EDIT*** Got it into 4 lo today. what i didn't know was that when your in 4 hi you have to push the 4 wheel drive shifter toward the floor then pull toward you. I was just pulling the shifter toward me hoping that it would keep going. but this system make tons of sense, so you don't pull to far on accident and get into 4 lo while not in neutral.

Used the transmission cooler line to swap out 9 quarts of ATF.. Old fluid smelled bad and was pretty dark, but red.

Installed new plugs and wires. Great tip to use air nozzle to clear around plugs first.. I was sandblasting my face with all the junk down those holes.

Today I changed my engine oil and filter, greased the driveshaft, changed out one reservoir full of power steering fluid, and filled the washer fluid.

Oil used was Valvoline NextGen MaxLife 5W-30 with a Purolator PureONE PL14610 oil filter (also with two hard drive magnets stuck to the exterior of the filter - if I have time to cut it open, I'll post photos). The OCI was 5,049 miles.

Grease: 5 pumps of Valvoline DuraBlend grease

PSF: Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF, old "Dexron/Mercon" formulation

Washer fluid: Rain-X bug wash (green)

See the crud that was on my magnetic drain plug, as well as my thoughts about it here.

Yesterday I threw in a radio to replace the stock Bose. I'm planning to use an amp but don't have all the pieces I need yet, so I just wired it directly in to the factory system with no line level adapter. Seems to work perfectly, which is not what I expected.

Today I swapped the o-rings on the oil cooler and replaced both belts.

how did you install the belts?
did you have to route them around the fan?

thanks

Remove the engine shield first. Next, loosen the bolt on each idler pulley, then back off the adustment bolts until the pulleys are fully released. The front (larger) belt does need to be routed around the fan. Remove that one, then the second one from underneath (that one takes a second to work around the main pulley). Reinstall in reverse order, adjust the tension on each belt, and tighten the pulley bolts. The whole process probably takes 15 minutes. As I recall, the pulley bolts are 14mm, adjustments are 12mm. The lower shield is probably one of those sizes as well, but I don't remember since mine isn't currently installed.

The engine undercover has 8 10mm bolts securing it.

You Really don't need a line output adapter don't care what anyone says :rotfl jk

Wouldn't recommend pulling in reverse. Great way to damage transmission as reverse is weakest gear.

Thanks! The plasti dip coat hasn't had any problems so far.

The seatbelts weren't retracting. Nissan of Reno exchanged them for free.

Was at the dealership today to have my Pathfinder emission test done (license renewal time). It passed with no problem at all. $35.00.
As I was leaving, I noticed a nice looking QX4 in the back lot. Not sure of the year, but it looked like a late ('02-'03) model.
Got out to have a look at it, thinking it might have been a trade in.
No exterior rust or damage, and the interior looked to be in good shape as well.
Then I saw a piece of green painters tape on the front fender.
Looked down under the fender behind the front strut, and there was a huge hole where the frame should be.
Turns out it is a write off due to the strut corrosion recall. I almost broke into tears.
Such a good looking unit, and it's a writeoff. The owner must be some pissed off. Sad.

Installed the WARN manual hubs (WARN 29091), purchased at Summit Racing for $164.95 plus tax. It's nice that we have one of the three Summit Racing physical stores here in Reno/Sparks. I was going to wait for a couple of weeks until getting my new wheels and tires, but I realized that the stock wheels were good enough for the hubs to fit, so I installed them last night.

Kept the original studs with the exception of one that I broke and ended up using one included in the Warn Kit. It was kind of a PITA to take the stud out, it was too short to put two nuts in there to do the trick. Also, whenever it's time to do a front brake service, I'll get some snap ring pliers. They would have saved me some 10 minutes fighting with those C clips. Other than that, a pretty easy mod. Haven't checked my new gas mileage, but I assume it will be a couple of MPG better. I ended up buying an UltraGauge today so i can get some more precise info.

Regarding the Plasti Dip mod previously posted, I recommend jacking the truck up before doing the chrome bumper cover. That way you will avoid the plasti dip to drip by having a more "horizontal" surface. And of course, it's better to remove the grille to work on it.

Replaced my PCV valve.. Pair pliers for the clamp and 19MM wrench and out she came. Old one had tons of gunk/paricles in it but it still seemed to move when shaken.

Figured out I can take the "filter" out of the power stearing resevoir and really get a decent amount of that dark fluid out.

First of all, let me say this: I hate winter. I seriously have to find a way to get out of here for next year.
In the meantime, winter bites me again:
Last week I backed up (slowly) into a small snow bank at my mother's condo.
The snow, as it turns out, was not really snow anymore. It had frozen into a solid block of concrete.
I hit it with the left rear corner of the bumper. Even though I was going no faster than at a crawl, it snapped off the mud flap assembly, and ripped a 6" gash in the bumper. Arrrgghh.
As soon as it warms up, I'll fix it as best I can.
Oh, did I say I hate winter?
