When I had my tints done, I wanted to get the wind screen done as well, and I was told they can't tint it because tinting it "could" cause excessive heat build up between the layers of glass and weaken it, making it more likely to crack. They told me they don't use tints on sunroof glass for that same reason.
Instead what they offered is a colour-less inside coating that is applied similar to a tint film just slightly thicker. The coating blocks 90% UV rays and repels 85% of the heat from the sun without absorbing it or trapping it in the glass like a regular tint can do (per the shop). The claim it also protects the dash and frontal areas of the interior (drying, fading, etc) by repeling all that stuff.
I had them do my wind screen and the inside of the sunroof. You can't see the difference unless you look where they cut out the tiny area in front of my roof-mounted lane change camera. I love the coating. No perceptible heat from the sunroof or the windscreen. Even in high-noon South Florida sun, you can lay your hand on the inside of the wind screeen, the inside of the sunroof, or even on the surface of the dash and there is almost NO heat. The car cools very quickly even after sitting in the 92 degree sun, and you don't feel any radiant sun heat on your skin or head while driving - even with the sun shade open ! They charged me $105 for the windscreen and the sunroof coating and each has a lifetime warranty just like the reg tints on the side and rear glass.
