it might be huge, but it's lighter. At least just the engine is lighter. IDK how it compares in weight with a T-56 on it.

I sold my KA and have a bunch of money to pay for new LS parts. :)

I also tore down my motor to the block and everything looks SUPER low mileage and perfect. The spark plugs are still factory GM plugs and everything.

It's super clean and I probably won't even touch the bottom end.

Pics soon..

Here's some bad cell phone pics..all this stuff is boring anyway, no need for good pics.

So I sold my KA for really cheap...1700..

The 5.3 all torn down. Gonna start ordering parts here soon.

Nah there's really no reason to. I think I'll be happy enough with the power.

Here's my passenger motor mount I made

No clue dude. I'll worry about that later haha!

Cut out the square areas in front of both of my fender wells today. Gonna re-do the sheet metal there so there are no intercooler holes.

I also cut my crossmember and it's ready to be welded with new plate...pics of that tomorrow!

Nice headers!

Will you brace the crossmember a little bit?
I assume it'll be under a lot of stress.

Yeah, I'm gonna run 1/4" plate across the bottom. It's just I left it open for now just to see how it fits, i'm gonna see how much space I have to add support, and then add it.

I'm thinking I'll put the oil pan on the motor while it's on my engine stand, then put the mounts on, and then the crossmember. To avoid the trouble of having to drop it in the car over and over again.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Not much is goin on, just saving up $$$ for the swap.

I did get a T56 though, and I touched up the valve covers.

So here's where I'm at as of today. I took the dash out of my car and everything because I need to re-locate my fuse-boxes behind it, since I decided to do tubs.

Here are some pics.

The motor...all finished but I need front accessories.

Image

Waiting to cut the rest out until I get my trailer fenders...

Image

Wiring mess...this is literally longer than the car.

Thats not my engine bay harness, thats the harness that runs into the interior and connects to the SMJ. It goes to the headlights, horns, ignition, interior fuse box behind kick panel, blah blah.

I want my fuse boxes behind my glove box, so I'm gonna try to mount them here and see how it fits. If the glove box doesnt fit I might make some panel that will take up the void.

Image

The other half of the harness went over the top of the dash and plugged in with no modification

Image

Here's the harness before I started sorting it out... :squint:

Image

And you cant do wiring without this!

Image

Here's where I left off today. I've been de-tangling the harness and getting all the wires out of the way that I don't need to shorten, etc. Pretty much I'm cleaning it up to the point where I can easily see which wires run between fuse box to fuse box. This kinda sucks, but it's fun at the same time.
