SX Appeal, how about using the coolant lines that go into the throttle body?

Picked up some 740cc Nismos last night. :D

That was my original plan, but those lines have been deleted on the custom Intake manifold I'm using. (Bought off another NICO member) I saw those on your setup btw, gotta say I was a fan, but for whatever reason I don't have them on mine. I've got my fittings to tap into the heater hose now though, so that should do fine. Just waiting on my turbo coolant fittings and hoses from vecco now, then I can drop the engine back in. What are the chances this thing purrs to life the second I hit the button? :rotfl FAT CHANCE...

btw WD, props on your ultimate driving machine, I approve.

99 bimmer huh? I am a fan of that bodystyle. Not tossing the s14 are you? I've been driving the car a lot lately (everyday) since the Mazda's still down and the wife's in limbo over here. She jsut interviewed for a grad assistant position today. I hope she gets it bc it'll pay for most of her school and give her a meager, but better than nothing paycheck. They have one more candidate to interview before they let them know.

I love the E39. The BMW 4.4 V8 is so smooth man and the DIY stuff has all been done before. Which is nice since I can't afford to take her to a BMW dealer.

The S14 is still in the garage, it's future is undecided. I'm gonna be 40 pretty soon, rough, loud and obnoxious isn't really my thing anymore. Which is what the S14 is, if it's fast enough to be fun to drive. I may just keep her for a few more years until her value goes up. Eventually there won't be any clean S14's with all the options in stock form with no CEL lights.

I hope ur wifeunit gets the job brosef.

That sounds like a good plan for the s14 Brian. Imma keep mine till, well as long as possible lol. I'm only 28 though lol. She actually did get the Grad Assistant job! She found out yesterday. Will pay for her tuition & general fees, but not books or special fees (like lab fees for specific courses etc.) and she'll work her 20hr a week minimum wage job (payment for a new car?) We're more than grateful. When I found out yesterday, I said "Thank God!" lol. That's one huge stressor off of me (paying for her school and finding her work ) :) I passed my last semester of RN school with a B. Now just have to register for boards, get my license, and find a job. Hope my ER will hire me once I get my license aroun 1st or 2nd week of June.

Just wanted to see if anyone could help me out. I've never had a Spec Clutch and the pictures I been looking at are slightly different. Just wanted to see if anyone has a Spec similiar to this one, its supposed to be a stage 3 with 5k miles. I'm thinking about buying it because it's dirt cheap cause he blew up his car but I'm worried it may be a knock off. Also not sure if it was broken in properly cause I see some hot spots. Just looking for some input from you guys who might know better.

Not sure about the clutch Slideways, but honestly, I'd recommend just buying a new one. Way too much work just to find out that the clutch sucks/is burnt up/is wrong/etc.

Agreed, I would always buy new when it comes to a clutch. Especially since it's unknown. Looks like my stg 3, but it's been a long time. I have the older version, where the stg 3 was rated at 450 ft lbs. SPEC ftw though, driveable and holds a boat load of torque.

Thanks guys but I already bought it. I started geek'n out about missing a deal and didn't hear anything for a minute except Razi said it looked like his stage 2. So for the $100 it took the gamble. Haven't put it in yet but I really just wanted a cheap backup cause I'm pullin my transmission anyway. I'm getting a weird vibration when letting the clutch out in 2nd gear and my friend swears it's because it's a cheap XTD lightweight flywheel and pressure plate combo. I just put it on maybe 500 miles ago and was good till now and I get a vvrrrpptmm vibration that you can barely hear if you know what your listening for. *I think I Just Made a New Word*. I'm gonna check the slave and stuff when I get under it before pulling it but I wanted to have a spare clutch to put on if the XTD is toast. I think it's my own fault cause I didn't break it in properly being a stage 3. Drove it like I stole since day one, I mean it was my first time driving it and getting to do burnouts and drifting since I bought it 3 years ago.

homeslice- glad to hear about your sucess, it sounds like you and your lady are heading into what I like to call "Good Times". It's funny how life has ups and downs when you look back at what has happened. I hope you both enjoy, becasue this is your time to feel fortunate.

Hey Raz, you install the injectors and up the boost yet?

I got an HKS ebc the other day, going to wait until after this next drift event to install it. 12 psi should be quite fun.

Nope, too lazy. :P
I'm afraid to up the boost, I'm afraid I'll break something.
How much can the stock internals take?

Cory (ka-t.org owner or something) was making over 400 on stock internals, but......not sure how much I would trust that haha. I think you'll be fine at 15 psi, anything more and you might be over 75% duty cycle as well as getting near the safe limit of stock internals.

Most of the stories I've heard about failures on stock internals happened at 300 whp and above.

The so called failures occur because of detonation. You can't have any detonation or you're going to break s***, period. Eliminate knock with water or alky or race gas if you're into wasting money and you can easily run 400 whp. Seriously, the KA is no slouch when it comes to how much power she can handle before the parts fail from fatigue.

Ivan made dyno pull after dyno pull during his tuning process, finally bent a rod at 500 ft lbs. The pistons never went.

The KA will make 350 all day every day if you change the fluids religiously and tune out the knock. Water is free fella's. Invest $250 one damn time and never worry about knock again. Kinda stupid not to imhfo.

Yeah, it's all in the tune. As long as you have the injectors to support it you'll be fine.

Check out what arrived at my house earlier :)

One of my favorite!
Love those wheels.

I'm thinking about getting an wideband and a knock gauge, like that Casper's knock gauge, before hitting a track up. Don't want anything to pop!

hey Razi, check out turbobuick.com and turbobuicks.com for a Casper gauge. Those gauges are popular among the Grand National crowd and can be had pretty cheap compared to the 85 summitt racing price. I got mine for 30/shipped from a member of turbobuick.com. Check out the link I posted in WD's DIY Knock Detection thread if you need help on how to wire it and make it work.

Knock detection ftw, just as important as a wideband imho. Maybe more. The MSD Knock Alert is the best if you don't mind spending a little.

If anyone happens to be going out to a junkyard soon and sees a z31 I'd pay you to pull the rear caliper brackets and ship them to me. I have some but they're from a turbo z so they won't work and I'd like to get the altima rotors out of my room haha.
