Hello everyone, I just recently bought a 2+0 N/A 93' 300zx with 136xxx original miles on her, just about three weekends ago(Feb.3). Picked her up from Nofolk VA, as I live in Northern Virginia which is about 3 hours away. The drive back taking 95 all the way home was a dream! The car didn't have any problems at all, shifted smoothly, no knocks, unusual noises.. Nothin' ! The drive back I filled her up after driving about 60 miles & filled her up & only used a quarter of my tank. Was glad to make it back without any problems and the Z i've been dreaming about for years parked at home. I decided to go with the N/A beacause I want to learn more about this motor & car before going TT. Also, because I'm not that mechanically skilled YET; But this is the car I want to learn on.
I plan on running this NA motor until she can't; then looking into doing a 1JZ swap or a RB20. But thats waaayyy ahead :ohno:
Anyway, I took the car to do a diagnostics & to install my NGK spark plugs. Results came back as everything is in great condition besides the water pump, accessory belt & the brake pads are worn. The dealership said that they'll do the 120k maintence for $1900; So, I asked how much they would just charge for labor if I supplied the parts, and they said $1100. So I'm going on Z1motorsports and ordering the $500 120k maintence kit & saving $400 :dblthumb:

But anyway enough talk this is her.

Removed the old tint & re-tinted it (45% in the front, 20% in the rear) About to take off the 45% & make it all 20%
Image

Plan on getting the J-Specs next month.
Image

Found those great cup holders on ebay for $15, Makes all the difference having something to hold your coffee in the morning!
Image

I have many questions about minor deletes in the engine bay! Plus on how to clean her up good !
Image

My torn accessory belt
Image
After I installed my 8k HIDS
Image

Z1 Race Pedals... These things make a hell of a difference !
Image

I did a engine flush, oil change, & got a Z1 high flow intake so far. Plan on getting her a glossy Matte Black & dropping her on some coilovers soon after my 120k maint..
But this is just the beggining I wanted to just introduce myself to everyone & get to know some people and share some advise !

Nice. I'm in Chantilly. I don't know of a Z club for NOVA, but there is a Maryland Z club on Facebook check it out. A lot of them are in the DC area in there. http://www.facebook.com/groups/121545127925780/

Welcome to NICO!

As far as minor deletes you could start by removing the clutch bleed line and blocking it off since its useless.

You should consider repainting the fender wells I haven't ever painted the fender wells with the engine in the car but I have heard of people doing it with good success.

with the tint tbh i wouldnt go less than 35% on the front windows. Just because it does get hard to see out of 20. Real hard you will end up rolling your windows down just to see lol.

Welcome! She's looks pretty good, a little rough around the edges but overall not bad.

$1900 for a 120k???? Specialty Z does it for just over 1k including parts.

Definitely look for somebody else to do your 120k besides the stealership. Look for a local Z shop or a knowledgeable member of the local Z club.

Great buy. Welcome

Thank you for the welcoming!
& the clutch bleed line eh? *Takes notes* How easy is it to do as well as blocking it off?
And yeah I can't stand seeing the red from the previous color in my bay, but once I take care of it maintenance wise, i'll be doing a lot of painting & touching up!

Haha Trust. I will be going 20% in the front in a little. I work at The Tint Shoppe over here in Woodbridge, so it'll be getting removed & retinted a lot lol. I just was driving the car around on a restricted licenses, so didn't want much attention from the police.. I'm actually about to put 55% on my front windshield here in a little bit. :chuckle:

Yeah cosmetically shes a little rough around the edges but its all minor thank god! I'll be getting her either wrapped in vinyl or plexi dipped.
& yeah they're trying to bust my head but this mechanic said he'll install it for $1000 flat. So i'm most likely going to just have nissan do it for the extra $100.

Where is Specialty Z located?

Thanks for the Welcome! & Yeah I ran into a guy on Valentines day in the parking lot that me and my date ate at. & he told me he was a guru when it comes to them so looks like I'll be giving him a shout and see how much he charges.. But then again I wouldn't want to really trust anyone to work on my car for a good price, then later on I have parts falling off, or even more problems lol.. But we'll see what I end up doing sooner or later!

Hahah Yeah I had a problem with this on my SUV 5% in the rear 20% in the front, with a 5% sunstrip.. Car was blacked out in the inside, which made it practially impossible to reverse at night :squint: lmao

But, really? I'm gonna have to search around and find some of these guys. I'm really looking for a good group of people in the area who can bless me with some knowledge.

To remove the useless clutch bleed line you have remove it then block it off at the junction block... You will see it, its right under the battery tray.

Or you can buy a one piece clutch line and get rid of it all together and go from the CMC straight to the CSC.
https://specialtyz.com/shop/300zx/clutc ... e-z32.html

Or buy this to block it off at the junction block:
http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_in ... ts_id=5325

I went with the SZ one piece "long" clutch line to just get rid of the junction block all together.

That's a JWT POP charger. Z1 tries to remarket it as their own, but it's actually JWT.

Yeah funny you say that cause I remember looking at both at them for the longest trying to figure out what was the difference hahah! :rotflmao

But quick question, I've seen the TT's on here and on a few other sites that have the Dual intakes on the front.. Is it possible to do that on a NA ? Because I'm pretty sure I have yet to see a NA with 2.. Just a quick thought

Possible? Yes.

Necessary? No.

An N/A will never suck enough air to constitute a dual intake setup.

ya it does look funny but law in va is 50 on the front 35 on the back windows inluding back seat. Its lame. But I thought I would go with the limo look lol and keep the front a little lighter so I don't get pulled over by the holice. so yea my tint will be technically illegal but it will give the impression its not maybe. idk its not even worth getting windows tinted with 50. :tisk:

I have 5% on the back hatch and quarter windows and 35% on the drivers and passengers windows. I LOVE the way it looks. It's great for controlling temperatures in the summer time and I can still see out of it at night

This is the best picture I have showing the tint

So pretty much it would still the exact air flow as staying single & just add weight? I love the look when they are both visible on the bottom of the bumper.

Haha I hear you on going turbo eventually i'm pretty sure all of us NA's plan on going turbo eventually. :ohno:
But do you notice anything change in gas mileage, performance or even sound? I know getting air to the motor is key of course, so I was thinking that maybe having two would give me more airflow and get a few gains in gas, performance or something :gapteeth:

I see you know your Virginia law for tint lol. A lot of people are completely flip out when it comes to the legal limit on the front windows. They either give me the "Oh hell naw I might as well keep my windows how they are" and the ones who just go with it or just go darker. But it does make a difference sunlight, car tempeture,UV, headlight glare, comfort & even a sense of fashion in some aspects. Ceramic films(which are more into the depths of heat rejection) instead of a dyed film which is just for a look/UV rejection & everything i mentioned above but just not so much focused on heat rejection.
I've had a Bentley come in and get Ceramic installed for around t $500. But some ceramics we offer go for for higher than that!
But yeah I just feel obligated to get my two front windows 20% 45 is still too light for my liking.

And Sweet! Looking good man! Do you know what kind of film you have on there? & yeah tint is one hell of a add on to a car and makes it feel/look like a brand new car.
Well at least in my eyes. :gotme

All personal preference.

Depending on what film you choose prices go for
$165-Metalized (Could interfere with Xm radio, navagation systems, and blue tooth)
$205- Dyed film
$245 for coupes. Ceramic ( Heat rejection film)

I'll be able to get you %15 off aswell.

No noticeable gain's in gas mileage but i don't dd the Z and when I do drive it i am not usually concerned with gas mileage lol. It has been dyno proven to help the n/a when trying to get everything you can out of it, but there is several other things before hand I would consider doing first before going dual pop on the n/a as it's really not to noticeable. And ya we n/a guys all want to be tt lol difference is i have had the engine and parts for the swap for about 3yrs now.......

So like 140, for metalized thats with 15% discount. I have too see hwre you are located. I got the same quote from a tint shop in md, with no discount have to see which is farther. The National Tint in chantilly wants about 165. That seems to be the going rate at the moment. But a few years ago 100 dollars cash give or take could get a car done right with quality tint.

Personally i plan on doing no mods to my NA whatsoever, from all I've read modded NA is weaker than stock TT. So I rather spend the money on the swap, and gains from that.

Exhaust, intake, etc all swap over. Really though exhaust, intake, ecu is about all i would consider doing on the n/a with the main focus on suspension.
