To make a long story short.....
I went NA power when i got the S14 (intake, header, exhaust, cams, flywheel, pulley, electrical fan conversion... etc) and it didn't run fast enough as I wanted. I bent the valves on my s13 cam swap because I installed the cams incorrectly. Out went the old motor and in with a newer 96' motor.
Got my first boost designs kit back in 2004 and installed it on my now 2nd motor. It consisted with of a top mount mani, Tial 38mm wastegate, FMIC, 12:1 fmu, walbro fuel pump and STOCK INJECTORS. With no timing control, i blew the motor within 2 months at 7psi on a t3/t4 57 trim.
I then purchased a motor out of a wrecked 98' with only 40k miles. Swapped it in and swapped out my blown t3/t4 57trim with a t04b 50trim. Upgraded also to a SAFC2, 370cc injectors, and MSD BTM for timing control. About 1 hour after I swapped the motor in, the wastegate signal came unplugged and I spiked to about 25psi and instantly blew the headgasket.
For my 4th motor, I then spent the money on a built motor (forged pistons, Cometic MLS hg, ARP headstuds). I also swapped out the 370cc injectors for some s15 480cc injectors. Everything in my setup was the same as I previously ran. The motor held up for about 2 months before it came time to smog. I left the oil lines on the car and went on my way to smog the car. For some apparent reason, the oil return line leaked heavily on the way to the smog shop. Nevertheless, I ran for about 2 hours with no oil and spun the #3 bearings.
Pissed off, I then purchased a stock motor out of a 97' and swapped in. I ran back to NA for a while(intake, exhaust), not wanting to go back to KA-T. I then sold my complete turbo setup and ran NA for about 4 months TILL the car wouldn't start on me when i was 3 hours away from home. I then had to spend $400 bucks to tow it home. I let the car sit for close to 1 year, parting everything out (was considering selling the car). I parted out my entire OEM kit, wheels, engine parts...etc to convert the car back to stock to sell.
I purchased a s13 with a redtop SR during that year i let the s14 sit and went ALL OUT with it (but thats another long story about it)
I soon got sick of the s13 and went back to my s14 that was sitting in my yard for about a year. I had to find out why it wasn't starting, turns out that my wiring harness shorted out and melted my ECU. I fixed all that and rode around BONE STOCK for about 4 months. Getting sick of rollin stock, i then AGAIN purchased another OEM zenki kit and some wheels and other mods to make the car a lil faster while NA.
I then got the crazy idea of going KA-T again. I scrounged up some $$$ and then pieced together a turbo kit and used the S14 T28 i had off my old s13 SR. This time i went with a Enthalpy ECU, Sard 555cc injectors, Blitz FMIC (had off my SR), and all my old NA parts (s13 dual ex cams, fidanza flywheel, ASP pulley). I then installed the kit, and went turbo KA for the first time in over 1 year. Felt great until i blew a freakin piston! Turns out my Enthalpy ECU was wayy too rich and I leaned it out too much with my SAFC and boom went the motor.
Getting sick of nothing ever going right, I then took my first built motor (the one that spun a bearing) and rebuilt it with forged rods and ARP bottom end. This being my 6th KA has been running for over 10k miles in a period of 6 months running strong! I beat this thing daily and no problems @ 18psi. I also upgraded to a GTi-R t28 with s14 compressor housing. My s14 t28 turbo blew out because i wasnt running an oil restrictor.
So this concludes my SHORT story of my s14 KA-T stories...
I also have stories about my S13 w/ SR and my motorcycle stories! Geez... I have too much time on my hands...
