Sorry but none of those reasons are completely true.
Reliability? Are you serious? How many Z's are at 120K+ miles still boosting strong at 400hp+ with a stock block. Compare that to supras that are at 120k miles without having been built or rebuilt once....not many if any...and if there is any they have been completely unmolested.
Performance? I think its been proven that you can throw a lot at a good TT block....and if you build it, it can handle just as much as the 2jz..

Aftermarket support? The lovely thing about the Z is that we don't need big names for parts. Notice that most parts that are made or sold are by TRUE die hard Z enthusiast. Z1 for example..the owner and employees specialize in Z's and make Z parts. Whats better than having parts made by someone who loves the car instead of some big company just doing it to make a buck.
Power to mod ratios? We all know the cars react about the same to mods...turbo cars are turbo cars. You might get a little more out hp numbers but you get more torque out of the V6 configuration and a nicer power band as most people know. :-)
Last but not least....as far as the supra vs. Z "9-10 second cars" think of it this way. You can pick up a good TTz for 10-12 grand. Well within the reach of "avg. people"...how many of these avg people that pick them up because they are affordable and fast do you think will build them up to go up to 9 seconds? Compare that to the people who buy/own supras when you have to pick one up in good condition for 20 grand! How many of those guys will be building up their car?!
In the end the Z has just as much potential as the supra...put the cars in the same playing field and then look at the numbers
