Twos thing to talk about...

1) YouTube "Leanback"
- This brings you full screen videos with 4 button layout to navigate. It gives you different videos to watch based on your settings and history (which videos you thumbs up or comment on).
The four buttons used are up, down, left, right. Youtube wanted to turn viewing videos from a lean forward experience (keyboard + mouse) to a lean back experience with a minimalistic structure while using the fewest buttons possible. I love the idea especially as more and more TVs start getting Youtube widgets.

2) YouTube now supports 4k resolution
- As of now most TVs can run at 1080p resolution. That results in a 1920x1080 pixels (when using a 16:9 ratio), but with 4k support, the amount of pixels on a screen now becomes 4 times larger at 4096 x 2304 pixels (using a 16:9 aspect ratio). Essentially 4k is 2304p and you can stream it on YouTube. 4k projectors are mostly used in movie theaters and 4k TVs can cost in the neighborhood of $70,000.

Question:
I tried streaming the 4k videos and it is super choppy for me. I have the bandwidth but for some reason the activity on my GPU is near 0% so I am thinking my processor is doing all the work. Also I have tried Chrome and Foxfire (doubt it make any difference). Any suggestions?

Many new TVs are coming internet ready. They can access sites like youtube, and netflix, among other things. Not to mention, almost all blueray players are internet ready, as well all playstation 3s.

My computer is Choppy at 1080p, I can only imagine what it would be like at 4K!

My TV on the other hand streams 1080p from it's YouTube app just fine. Nothing like watching foxy-boxy in 50" of dark eyeliner wonder.

Really doesn't work like that. You TV can produce a 1080p image, but it doesn't render it, either your HD reciever, PS3 or Xbox does. The reason why your computer is choppy with 1080p is because your hardware isn't up to the task.

Now if you had a Zotac 9400GT 512MB (Snyergy Edition) Graphics Card then you would be able to play 1080p video without a problem

4k is a complete waste if the footage wasn't filmed, edited(offline with proxy files) and finished in 4k. Of course it also has to be displayed in 4k. A lot of films that are presented in 4k are actually finished in 2k and then upresed to 4k. I used to get invites to the digital cinema lab in LA for private screenings of films in 4k the week they were released into the theatre. It was somewhat epic.

What version of flash are you running?

The newest verison allows for unloading of the processing power onto the GPU...previously it was all CPU driven.

Good point.

I just went to Abobe's site and DLed 10.1 but nothing stated Chrome, and it is still choppy. :frown:

Your CPU/GPU combo / board chipset might not be able to handle the resolution. What are you running?

Not sure of what type of mobo but it uses an Intel G43 chipset
Dual-Core E5200 @ 2.5GHz
4GB Ram
Vista 64-bit
ATI Radeon 5670

From what I read on the 4k video comments people were posting there setups...
Those who had no issues ended up having Quad Cores, i5s or i7s running at 60%-75% and from 9500GTs all the way up to triple SLI GTX 480.

Some thing tells me no one watching 4k on YouTube is getting hardware acceleration.

One would think that with that setup you should easily chew through that stuff. My guess is that the 4k codec through flash does not have the proper ability to unload onto the GPU at this point, since it's so new.

And Vista sucks.
