Okay first off let me say:People can do whatever they want to their own car because it's their own as long as it makes them happy. Now that I got that out of the way.

-This is speaking S14 only

Do you think it is misleading to badge a US 95-98 240SX as a Silvia?

I myself personally feel there is nothing wrong with this. Being that Silvia is simply a chasis. The Silvia name does not imply performance. It is simply the car itself. Regardless of what motor is in the car it is still refered to as "silvia." But of course some people 240 and non 240 owners alike feel that the USDM S14 and JDM S14 are not stongly corelated enough to even be the same car. (Besides the obvious RHD/LHD, digital climate control and US vs japan crash standards etc.). What is your take on this.

Is a Silvia badged S14 misleading in your opinion as far as claming to be a car that it's not? I can understand having K's trim in a KA powered car is not correct but I believe the US and Japan Silvia Chasis/overall car are simular enough to be called the same and silvia and 240 name to be interchangable to US and JDM cars.

Like most sticker queens, most people who do these can't afford to do better mods. Consequently, I've learned over the years, that if you stop buying the useless stuff, you can afford the real mods much easier.

It's sad when even 240 owners are misinformored on their own cars. Silvia is not trim like GTR. it's only a car name. RHD and SR is not what Silvia is. It's simply a car chasis. CA18DET. is a "silvia" motor too.

I don't mind it one bit. I might be getting the badging if I get an S14 anyways. Call me a ricer all you want, but for some reason I like silvia a little more than 240SX. Again, I don't care.

If it doesn't have the KA in it, then it's not exactly a 240sx anymore now is it? but it's not exactly a Silvia... so which one is "more wrong"?

Badge it however you please, but a 240SX and Silvia are not the same car. Doesn't matter if you have a phat jdm tyte swap and RHD, it always has been, and always will be, a 240SX. That being said, if you're into really shallow, superficial, ego-boosting that you get from fellow ricers being like "omfg yo! it's a sylvia!", then by all means, badge away.

Silvia is not a chassis. S14 is a chassis. In Australia, the Silvia is a 200SX. Here, it is a 240SX. The reason our cars are 240SXs is because it has a 2.4l, likewise the 200SX is because it has a 2.0l. The original 180SX had a 1.8l (w00t for the CA!!!) Why don't you badge it as a 200SX since you have a 2.0l motor. The only way that I would do a Silvia badge is if I had EVERYTHING Silvia (seats, brakes, steering wheel, RHD, appropriate SR, etc), but then I would say you wasted tyour money. But it's your car.....your logic is just flawed.

I don't really care. If you have enough Silvia parts to justify it to yourself and not feel like a riceboy, then go for it. I think it is pretty silly to put Silvia emblems on a mostly stock 240SX though (like, without a motor swap).

Personally, I'm just taking all the emblems off the trunklid completely (although I did get K's emblems to put on the rear panels ;))

You're the one that asked for peoples opinions...they gave them to you. Personally, I don't care about the badging. I'm not gonna go spend my money on it, but if someone else wants to, good, just means I'll have put my money into making it faster so he looks "cool" getting his *** kicked. Hell, strip all badging and just call it your Nissan Super Cool Ride :ylsuper

You can call it Suzy if you want but it doesn't change anything. I wouldn't say it's misleading either unless you think someone would be fooled by a different badge. I for one could care less what you put on your car. If you like it then do it, if not then don't. Quit hating on others people stuff so much and worry more about your own.

You asked for public opinion. What is this? Nazi Germany?

At any rate, If you want to very literal about it, badging your s14 with silvia logos is a rice mod, in the same manner of a GT-R sticker on a Cavalier. Claiming to be something you're not is never a good thing, but S14 to silvia is not too far of a leap.

So, in all honesty, It doesn't bother me too much. On a scale from 1-10 of rice-ocity, this is a meh.

I got a black S14A Silvia emblem on my hood because I think it looks sick. To me the "S" stands for Sileighty:D And yes I have an SR.

"Being that Silvia is simply a chasis"Nope. Wrong. Silvis is a Model name. Like a Camaro is a F-Body and a cavalier is a J-Body and a 95-04 mustang is a SN95.

"Regardless of what motor is in the car it is still refered to as "silvia.""Odd...my car came with decals that say "240SX" and when you run my vin, it comes back as a 240SX. Mabye your car is different {SARCASM)

"It's simply a car chasis."Once again, wrong. THE CHASSIS IS S10/S11/S12/S13/S14/S15 AND THE NAME IS 180SX/SIlvia/240SX/200SX. A cars chassis is the platform, it's name is what they put in the ads and marketing campagins.

Wanna keep posting cool guy? Actually, please do. Let us flame you some more:)

BTW, the ONLY proper Silvia that I have seen on NICO is this one:http://www.nicoclub.com/forums...60509

omfg this is lame. yes silvia is tha name of our cars in japan. and 240sx in america. about badging. it's just for looks. this is another one of those pointless opinionated threads. leave the badgers alone. they are not "posers". think about it. APC introduced drifting to america. Sure, we'd rather pick a tanabe universal muffler resonator than an APC one, but now-a-days, japanese car buffs are getting into "american style". IE strobe lights, underglow/neon kits. now are they posers also? i'm sure they get laughed at in japan, but hey they don't care - its their style. I mean c'mon a silvia truck? who would've thought about that?

Just let people do what they do even if you don't like it. and don't flame them for their style, whatever it may be. just be supportive or just say you dont' like it.

So... who died and made all you guys the decision makers on what is right and what is not and what is rice...?? If it's your opinion, that is all it will ever be. I'm sick and tired of people calling every single little thing rice. As far as I'm concerned, Nitekid, if you think the emblem looks cool... then do it, who cares about anyone's opinion. I surely don't. Who wants to go to the race track and see a bunch of junky *** rusted out pos's running 10's or running around a autox track - not that all fast cars are junky. I'm for show and go. Maybe sometime in between the two, you may not be going as fast as you look but hey, we're not millionaires, we do what we can when we can.

I'm guilty. I have a S badge and a grille. I got my hands on a silvia grille I didnt like the oem piece so I put that on. It didn't look right with the nissan emblem so I swapped it. Hell I seen acuras with honda emblems on them. What blows me away is that people ask me is it a silvia. If you want a legit silvia go overseas and get one or just work with what you got.

If it makes me happy to put a Silvia emblem on my 240SX, who the ***** are you to tell me I can't do it?? If it looks good, isn't aesthetically appalling, and having it there makes some kind of sense (unlike putting a GT-R emblem on a Dodge Avenger or a VTEC sticker on a Geo Prizm), then why not? I may not own a Silvia K's, but I got K's emblems for my S13 because I like 'em.

But, no matter what mods I put on my 240SX, whether motor swaps or suspension upgrades or emblems or even RHD conversions, if someone asks me what I drive, I will say, 240SX. Because that's what it is.

Even a 240SX with an SR swap and JDM front end and JDM body panels and RHD conversion and JDM emblems and JDM interior and JDM mirrors and JDM windshield wiper fluid is still NOT a Silvia; it's a 240SX with a bunch of JDM s*** on it.

I pretty much 80% agree with Project240 except that by the same logic that a 240sx with an sr20det is not a Silvia than it is also no longer a 240sx. And by that logic, any car with any mod is no longer its former self! Madness.

P.S. It's 4/20 and all, so ignore anything I say....

I have no problem with embelems myself, I mean they are just friggin stickers. It is the things he is saying and his uber flwaed logic that cracks me up.

Myself, I have no emblems. The only problem is when I got pulled over a few weeks ago, I got in an arguement with the cop on the identity of my car. He swore it was a Prelude :(

I debadged the back of my car. I like it :). I'm waiting to repaint it, then put on my Silvia emblem, I like the sound of it. Since my car is my baby, i'm gonna call her silvia :p.

I wanted to put a Honda decal (the one that lights up at nite) on it, but I'll have to wait and see.

I have all this Type R pretty stuff in my interior, I like it :) so I'm putting it there. Amazingly, it actually has function (the pedals help w/ foot grip and the suicide knob helps me do my super lazy turns.

I sort of like the debadged look, it confuses some people.

o yea and it's "stupid" little mods like this that got me more into my car and led me to learning how to fix parts of it, get my cold intake, "trick" out my lights, etc. I would have never thought I'd be "fixing up" my car until I started doing this little enhancements and learned more about my car by reading stuff here and doing stuff on my own. It's true that the money I spent on cosmetic enhancements could have gotten my sr20/ca18/rb26/etc engine for a little more, but I wouldn't have even dreamed of doing something like that until I did these enhancements. I luv my car now, and I luv it cuz I can do little things to it myself and slowly move up. I'm starting to take it up a step and get a BRM exhaust and cat; then the hotshot headers. That's about as far performance wise as I want to take it for now since I am not racer and not a very fast driver. I think I will invest some money afterward in driving school (defensive and offensive :)).

People like their own cars to their own capacity. As long as it makes them happy and doesn't harm other people, then there shouldn't be a problem with it.

p.s. rice is nice if done right :).
