My first car I got, was a 2001 Mitsubishi Mirage ES 4dr w/ 5 spd in july of 01. I got a loan out with my mom and got it. At that time i knew almost nothing about cars. I was only looking for a car that was black, was 5spd and had a cd player.

Once I got that, i started reading about the mirage on some forums. I luckily ended up with the 1.8L engine instead of the 1.5L. So it wasn't the slowest damn thing out there, (111hp, 116tq stock). So I got all interested in cars all of a sudden. I had my mirage, no problems because it was new. I started tryin to make it look nice, but i never had a desire to spend thousands on ricing it out. I bought some stock alloy wheels from someone to replace the steelies for like $100. Then i had clear corners, sidemarkers, 35% tint, nothing real wild.

Then I decided I wanted to make it faster. I started with a K&N FIPK filter, but ended up making my own cold air intake setup, since aftermarket support for mirages was nearly non existant. After that, i bought OBX 4-2-1 headers, and did a custom exhaust w/ an obx muffler. The only real suspension mod was a front upper strut tower bar. The thing sounded nice and was much faster than stock. I could beat neons and civics at least ;)

Then at one point i decided I couldn't afford the $350 a month car payment and the car was slow as ballz. So right before I started putting it back to stock, I went with my friend to an autocross. I only intended to watch him and his roommate race. My friend owns a 2000 integra type r and his roomate has some 92 vw gti. Well somehow they managed to convince me to race the mirage. After that, I was hooked.

I sold the mirage, and drove my moms old 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix (rofl) for a while so i could catch up on my $. Then I really wanted a nice car, a very well rounded car with a lot of potential and a good bit of power. I couldn't stand driving an automatic anymore. So looked around, and tried my best to find a car in my price range, which would make my friend jealous and possibly end up out racing him on the track. :D And here I am, I got my 1993 240sx with 92k miles. My friend is wishing he didn't spend some 25k on his ITR, (he owns it, but his insurance is through the roof). Needless to say, he could've had a 240 and swap an sr20 and still had tons of $ to spare. I love this car :D

Sorry for the long boring story, I was very bored, reply if you're as bored as I am. :ylsuper

When I was 15 and first started looking for a car, I knew I didn't want just some run of the mill piece of crap that a lot of people end up with. I found and ended up buying a 1993 Ford Probe GT. Black, grey leather interior, moonroof, all power options, Pioneer cd player, keyless entry, ect. Extremely nice car, and I bought it with 73k miles on it.

Shortly after purchase I found probetalk.com and got involved there. I learned so much about the car and met a lot of other Probe/MX-6 enthusiasts and basically it all took off from there. I didn't end up doing much to my Probe, I had a cone air filter, ported intake manifold, IAT mod, just little stuff really, but enough to get the excitement going.

I ended up meeting my fiance from probetalk, and about 2 months ago finally sold my PGT for my 240. I'd had it for 2 years and was tired of the automatic....but I'll never feel the same about another car again.

So yeah, my first car was the car that got me into cars. :)

I guess my car bug was always there, as I modified everything I ever owned. First car: A 1970 Karmann Ghia convertible with a 2130cc engine. Fast as hell, but probably because 500 pounds of metal was rusted away. I did a frame-off restoration of a 68 GranSport in 1988 (found it with 40K original miles) for show (and race - 14.8 at 101mph), and I did a frame-off of a 1949 Olds Rocket 88 (that showed up at my house disassembled in 2 pickup beds), also for show. An insanely fast lime-green 1970 'Cuda AAR with a 440-6 (pulled the six-pack carbs in favor of a big 4 barrel), lowered 3" with 15x9 slotted rims, Koni's and all poly bushings... A low-budget autocrossing 84 CRX with 200K that ran high 15's on the original engine, a lifted 383c.i. Suburban 4x4, a lightly customized 94 Civic Si, and finally my Q45 (soon to get a 4.08 rearend).

Next projects: A 1969-72 vette, an early Datsun 1600 roadster, and a 1968 Caddy convertible.

My car dreams have gone as follows (and I'm only 18)

1) 1989 Toyota Pickup, 2.2L 22RE, 5-Speed, 2WD. Super wide gears, but incredible lack of any power. I got the car with 245,000 miles on it. Go figure. No modifications except for fluid changes, and restoring the interior. Oh yeah, and I learned how to install a CD player

2) 1988 Toyota Supra Turbo, 5-Speed. Bought it with just under 200K. Dumbest decision of my life. Needless to say that after about $5K worth of work, it still sucked, burned coolant and oil, turbo was pure s*** and I let it go for $1700. It was nice too, targa, LSD, luxury package, all the goodies

3) NOW 1992 Nissan 240SX 5-Speed: Working on getting rid of all the little annoyances. (shakes and rattles, crappy stock sound system, etc) has 150,000 on it, I'll build towards KA24DET until this engine finally bites the dust. Then it's game on time.

My first car was a Ford Escort...total pile so I didn't even bother doing anything to it besides a system. The first car I started modifying is my supra.

My first car was 1993 Mazda MX6 blue. It was nice car and I had 5Zigen exhaust , indiglow gauge, front strut bar and lowered. But I was totalled it going 60mph and hit a curve. My front wheels were gone and transmission. Frame was cracked because of strut bar. Insurance company bought that car, and w/ that money I bought 1995 Nissan 240SX.

I had a 91 daytona v6. didn't need any mods. it had factory alloys, factory body kit, more then enough power stock. i got it on a dyno it put 185 hp to the wheels and somewhere around 200 lbs of torque can't remember exactly. needless to say it hauled *** until about 3 months ago when I plowed it into a highway divider doing about 90 km/h. the damn thing handled like s***. all i did was sound system and plug wires. took the money the isurance company gave me and bought my 240. I was diapointed by performance but the handling just kicks *** i got NGk wires and iridium plugs on it now and front and rear strut bars as well as a short ram intake. 1 jbl 10" in the back with jbl 4x6" speakers all around with factory amps bypassed, and a panasonic deck. working on lowering it, and getting some cams and the ecu reprogrammed. I had to pull the car off the road for 4 months (got my license suspended) so i figure this will be the best time to upgrade alot of the engine stuff since i don't need to drive the car. Any way its got 160,000 KM on it. I plan to do it out completely, and own it till its got atleast 220,000 on it besides everythign will be new within the next 20,000 Km anyway. so to make a long story short this will be the first car that got me interested in cars and hopefully my last.

First car: 1985 Ford Bronco II. POS, 'nuf said.

Second car: 1983 Buick Park Avenue Electra. Most comfortable couch I have driven in my life. Softest suspension ever. Put 4 12's in the trunk....lots of audio stuff...fun high-school car, still have it as a winter beater.

Third car: 1995 Civic DX HB. Fun first import, 5-spd. Wheels/tires, I/H/E MSD ignition (came with car), Ground Control coil-overs, strut tower braces. Handled well, was light as **** (2350 with me in it IIRC). Wasn't very fast, ran a 16.4 at 80 something. Sold that for $6000 to some sucker.

Fourth car: 1995 240sx base. Bought from Daunttless. Nothing done to it when I bought it. Put some cash into to make it slightly faster. And that's where I am at right now.

The first car I modded in any way was a '65 Corvair. First year of the nice body style, not the one shaped like a bathtub. I lowered it a little, added stiffer shocks, large swaybars, Beautiful car. I got bitten by the car bug very early in life as my father was an avid car enthusiast. He acquired a '56 Jaguar XK140 when I was 5. By the time I was 12, the Jag was replaced with a '64 Ferrari. He kept that car for over 20 years. Awesome machine. I logged many miles on her. I got bitten by the RACING bug after I got married when my wife and my buddy's wife sent my buddy and I to the Skip Barber Racing School (Lime Rock) as a birthday present. We've been doing track events with Barber and the Audi Quattro Club ever since. great fun.

first car : 93 toyota corolla

It had decent pickup in 1st and 2nd gear and got amazing gas milage (40mpg) I knew that it wouldn't be worth it to try to make it faster, so i put a $1500 stereo in it. keep in mind i paid only $1000 for the car itself. Right now that car is sitting in my driveway with severely worn piston rings and a clutch that slips in any gear when you floor it. Last week I bought my red 91 240sx SE and I already love it so much more than my corolla because of the rear wheel drive and the LSD. I love the top end on the KA and i know it'll get even better after i install an injen intake and apex dual N1 system.

My first car was an 88 CivicDX. I didn't know anything about cars when my uncle gave it to me I just though tit was cool and fun I washed it every week even though I didn't get my license for two more years. I got into reading about it just because I wanted to see if it had good reviews and I stumbled upon "engine swap" got me all excited. After about 7 months of DRIVING it.. I decided that it was just too damn SLOW. Too damn UGLY.. NO DAMN power steering which I like. And Front Wheel Drie is just no fun for me!. I decided on my 240SX which I love, this is my first REAL car...I sold my Civic and worked all summer to cover the difference, bought her from some crapper used dealership. This summer an RB25 is going in.. will be a lot of fun to learn wtf I am doing while I do it.

Had no choice but to learn about cars. My first car was a 1969 Camaro, which i had to push into the garage ( I really miss that car....). After the first weekend that pops and i worked on it, and managed to get it running, i was hooked and have been a car nut ever since.

The first car I owned was a 1987 Mitsubishi Starion ESi-R. I had it from 94-95 when it eventually died an electrical death. At the time, I had just begun learning about import cars and was spending some time bugging the guys at Dynamic Autosport with all sorts of dumb questions. Eddie eventually gave me an HKS catalog and sent me on my way. Though I bounced the car off of a few curbs, and spent some cash on a K&N Intake and an HKS turbo exhaust which probably put the car close to the 200whp figure... what eventually killed the car was worthless Mitsubishi electronics.

I bought a '92 galant sohc when i was 17. I have had it ever since. No aftermarket for it, and mitsubishi is literally starting to run out of replacement parts. The thing is falling apart at 200,000KM even though I have babied it. Just too many problems, but it has never once broken down on me :) Its a manual transmission and that brought me into my deep love for cars. I love the sound of an engine revving, just like mine and mine is stock.

When I was 15 and looking for a car the 240SX caught my eye. However, I was/am on a tight budget and people want a lot for the cars, so the first car I drove was an '87 Toyota Corolla. 10 months after I figured out what the 240 was, I finally found one I could get and brought it home. I started reading on http://www.240sx.org when I was 15 and been hooked into this **** since.

My first car was a 1986 Dodge Conquest Tsi. Fast car, but really unreliable. The turbo was in good shape, it put out about 170hp 200lb-ft. It caught on fire one day while i was driving it! Good thing i paid only a grand for it.

Ya my first car was a Lumina Z34 with a 60 degree 3.4 L DOHC 215 HP stock and a top speed of 147 MPH. It was pretty damn fast. It had a 5 speed too. What i did to that cause was a waste of my money. No After market for the car at all. All i had was Headers, Cold Air Inake, and Exhaust. It was running 14.4 in the quarter from its stock 15.4. Then i bought my 240sx. Love it ten times more then my Lumina. O by the way my 240 is all payed for in cash still payin for the loan in the lumina lol..

My friend has a 1978 Mercedes, and she drove it over to my house to show me, me and another friend standing around like cool. It runs on diesel and such, stay warm with it in winter but she couldnt get the hood up...My mom got it and looked underneath it saying looks good, had her start it up....she went to turn the a/c on and me and the other friend jumped back about 2ft b/c we thought the fan was going to fly right out of the car. It went to shaking bad and I made jokes about it.

My Laser got me into wanting to learn more about cars since I've replaced nearly everything on the car so its like new. Never had a car with 2 timing belts before so I cant imagine how it be if 1 went out on the car. The car didnt have manual but I finally bought one which my mother thinks is bad ideas b/c I'm getting ideas of trying or wanting to do this on my own and talks about rebuilding and she shakes her head at me like I'm nuts. She wont let me near her truck, but I havent tried anything yet so I cant imagine why :D
