I wonder how this would pan out with the injen intake on the A/C. Probably about dead even huh? You may be able to crank out and extra 5 horses with an intake in the cold early morning! Just a thought.
I know the torque is slightly higher in the '07 G35 automatics also, but I would think the intake would slightly help that out also! So although the new VQ37VHR on the G37 is a bit out of competition, '07 and earlier model G35's are fair game...hmmm
Everything you said makes perfect sense about the Altima and G35. The cars are on the same basic platform - but I usually get on some AC owners Kinder Softer Side when I compare the 2. The main difference is the drivetrain orientation - In terms of pure performance - like a manual transmission, Rear Wheel Drive gives you more control.
Here are the specs for the Auto and Manual

As for Stick vs. Auto. - You are always gonna get asked if your car is a stick if it is a coupe or sports car. My car is a commuter car so auto was the way to go for me. Sticks are cool but I think they become a chore for day in day out driving.
Back in the day when I used to buy hoopties I would always look for a stick because - that way you knew if you had to replace the transmission - it would only be the cost of the clutch for the stick vs. a transmission for the auto.
Good Luck
