was scouring ads for either a late-80s supra turbo, mid-late 80s 300zx, late 80s/early 90s rx-7, or an 86celica gt.

Didn't want a honda cuz I had been stuck driving my mom's 91 accord from the day i got my permit (15yo) till I finally could get my own car (late 16yo). So I KNEW how much hondas sucked from the start. That and hondas just made me sick, what with EVERYONE and their brother driving them and ricing them out.

So naturally i was privy to the far better toyotas and nissans. I was hoping more for that supra turbo but nobody sells them locally.... EVER. So that shot my dreams for a supra.

Damn near bought an 87 300zx turbo anniversary edition or something, had gold paint along the trim..... i think.. that was a while ago (19 yo now) But the syncros in it were showing abuse. Other than that though it was in fine runnign condition.

Then while searching the ads i came across a "nissan 240sx" Not sure if it was a misprint of perhaps the datsun 240z or something... i decided to check it out.

So me and my dad go to the place and lo and behold a BEAUTIFUL, pristine, white 1991 nissan 240sx fastback was sitting in the parking-lot. We went into this hair salon where the owner said she worked, and had a talk with her, looked it over, took it for a test drive and i instantly fell in love. Bought it the next day.

It wasnt the 300zx or supra i had hoped for, but goddamnit, it was just as cool, if not even cooler!

I was SO happy to have such a cool car for my first ride, and i found out it was RWD too to boot! It could spank hondas without breakin a sweat, completely stock! it was the coolest thing EVER to me. and still is :D

The only downside was that the resonator made this HORRID noise when decelerating, but that was a quick fix by lopping it off. The alternator belt sqeaked too, but again, quick fix (replace and tighten)

This baby was pristine aside from the two noisy flaws.

Too bad I didn't keep it that way :(stupid 16 yo + spiffy quick car = disaster waiting to happen.Lets just say dont drive fast down dirt roads if you dont know the particular section like the back of your hand... :(I am now enlightened.

She still runs strong tho, just put a new clutch in it too, runs great!

ok, maybe i should give the REAL story, although my other sounds better cause its like every other newbie on 240sxforums, nissanforums, and kinda here, although we set em straight. anyways.....

Once upon a time, i had a truck. now this truck was no ordinary auto...it was a 76 F-150 with 126k miles on it, a 390 w/ holly 4bbl, and a rear mounted gas tank so it had the bed mounted tire. the thing looked like grandpas farm truck, and in reality it was. i bought it from my great uncle who had it on his farm. but it was a beast. we got that running better, it had an ignition relay box out and we had the carb rebuilt. we also had a new exhuast put on. soo, even though it looked old, it was a beast. the engine was so torquey it would twist the front end of the truck. i loved her. but, as gas prices got higher, and i started disliking driving a truck that wasnt that great for highways and long trips, i decided to look for something else. i wanted to keep the truck, but the folks said i couldnt have two cars. sooo, i started looking around for smaller cars that got good gas milage. i looked into EK and EG civic hatches, FC3S rexs, old Zs, celicas, and the MX6. didnt find any good FCs and i didnt really want to mess with rotaries. the MX6 was FWD, as was the Civics, that and everyone had em. i couldnt really find any Zs in good shape at the time and the celicas were the older style. it looked like there wasnt much hope for a 17y.o. but i found an 85 300zx turbo for $1500. i thought this was going to be great, then i found out it had a bad MAF and the guy was still driving it. i started looking for Maximas and old SE-Rs, but no such luck. that and i really wanted RWD. this is when i started looking up the 240sx and learned about it. i also found out about drifting while searching. i said "I want a 240sx!" i really liked the way it looked, handled and the fact it was RWD. well, i started looking for them but no such luck. finally i found Roxanne in an add for $1500. we met up with the guy and started looking it over. we thought it was a good deal, and so we got it. this was in may 2002. well, i had to learn stick and that was a lot of fun :D i found out later that i needed new tires, the old ones were BAD. so i got new tires and thought thigns were great. i also had my stereo put in the day after i got the car. well, i had a small crash and put my car into some bushes after doing a 180 on the wet road. after that, i thought things were ok, but i soon needed a new clutch and then brake rotors. sooo, i also had a small wreck in dec and thats why my car is two colors. this one was just from me not looking for 2 secs and hitting a truck who stopped. oh, and i had Initial D in May 2002. that summer i went to A-Kon and bought some Night Kids sticekrs and slapped them on my car. and low and behold after i got my 240, they became super high demand because those damn Rice mags did their Silvia build up articles...:angry7:

I have always liked the 240sx' since a couple of years ago when I saw a red hatch on the freeway...didnt know what it was at the time, but when I looked into it I have wanted one ever since. I am hoping to have a job soon, my dad will help me pay for one since the thunderbird he bought me got a warped head and sounds like a tractor....

1991-93 Black hatchback 240sx, itll be mine soon ;)

i was looking for an izuzu impulse RS or a 85-87 corolla GT-S ever since i was 15, but had no luck the ones i looked at were over priced piles of **** that needed 2k to get an MVI.

Luckly came accross my 89 when i was 16(well still am) did soem research and loved the potential of the truck engine and near 50/50 weight distrobution. not to mention it was RWD.. i hate driving FWD cars the steer like a tank under acceleration.

I was lookin for a 5spd and i was walkin around one day and found it in my neighbrohood, 1989 Nissan 240sx Fastback. Not a spot of rust, very good shape, engine sounded like a perring cat. guy had owned it the whole 15 years the car was around. it hasnt been drivin hard at all, only thing theyve had to replace is the shocks. Everything else is stock, cept for the speakers jus replaced the back ones today. It was for sale for 2g, i got it, i fell in love with it the first day i saw it....

How did you know?

I got my own 240 while actually looking for an Integra. I realized what a ripoff most Tegs were and what a screaming deal 240's were and realized it should have been obvious. I learned to drive a standard on a brand new 1989 SE hatch. repo = old man
