First name / car used in event

Thomas , 1993 Nissan 240sx coupe

Event Name , Location & Date

ClubLoose Night Moves Englishtown NJ 3/26/08

How did you think you did?

My 1st two runs were a complete failure , but after some talking to be my good friends and Gerry telling me to get an instructor i did alot better.

Were you happy with your setup?

To early to tell , but i know my recent alignment settings makes my car very loose in the rear (oversteer)

What you plan to work on next event

Try and make sence of all those cones and get my line down

Event Name , Location & Date

ClubLoose Night Moves Englishtown NJ 4/30/08

How did you think you did?

I went in thinking i was going to do better then last time but the course had so much gravel and clag built up online that i plowed each time entering the 1st right hand sweeper. They changed the layout some by making the 1st corner very wide and doing away with the "donut" around the light pole

Were you happy with your setup?

Entering the 1st corner there was some understeer , then once i would go to correct , there would be crazy oversteer. That lot was like ice tonight. I dropped the tire pressure in the front tires and that seemed to help some. I did lower the rear of my car 0.5" and im not sure if that was causing the understeer issue.

What you plan to work on next event

Forget about balls out entry speed and just get some clean runs in.

Event Name , Location & Date

ClubLoose Night Moves Englishtown NJ 7/30/08

How did you think you did?

I made it into B group!!!!

Were you happy with your setup?

Yes , very. Falken RT615'S @ 55PSI Rock!!!!! (rear)

What you plan to work on next event

Less spins, and listen to all the advice like i did tonight. Listening to what Petty , Gerry and the other guy in the stands had to say helped me out ten fold. It was crazy that i was getting so many compliments from everyone , and i was happy that those cats i was getting along with all night made it into B group as well.

Event Name , Location & Date

All Star Bash East Coast /Clubloose 8/16/08

How did you think you did?

My 1st runs are always bad because my memory is nonexistent , but once Petty showed me the way i killed it all day , except for the very last run of the day. I was pushing it to hard and spun twice.

Were you happy with your setup?

Yes , very happy , except for the fact that i now need to upgrade my cooling system.

What you plan to work on next event

Earlier , faster entry

Event Name , Location & Date

Clubloose Advanced Day , Englishtown NJ 10/24/08

How did you think you did?

I think i did pretty well considering how tricky the Kart track was tonight for people with NA KA's. The 1st corner was balls out so i was flat in 3rd gear. The layout was a wide right hand sweeper, into a hairpin style 180 , and a easy left hand sweeper , then a right then done. Either you went in fast and hard as **** , and miss the 180 cause you couldnt keep the rears spinning , or go late into the 1st corner and make it.

Were you happy with your setup?

Always happy with my setup. The car performed awesome. I tried a new tire out tonight , the Falken Ziex Ze 502 (rears). What a killer tire for the price. Awesome grip and tons of freakin smoke. Once it got to be pretty late in the night , the tires started to finally feel slushy and lost grip, but after i took out 15psi , they came right back to life. One thing , i wouldnt mind just a tad more HP.

What you plan to work on next event

Well , i cant enter any faster then i was tonight on the Kart track unless they make the entrance longer or i get more hp.

heres my attempt at itFirst name / car used in eventSteven Smith 1993 240sx hatchback

Event Name , Location & Datemyrtle beach speedway points series 2008 7th overall so far of 53 drivers

How did you think you did?rd 1 5th place rd 2 10th rd 3 5th place rd 4 7th place

Were you happy with your setup?learning the new car entered the first event after owning the car for 1 week

at rd 4 developed a dead cylinder on number 2 shortly after the day began.. first run actually.. somehow i still managed to qualify 6th place and make an attempt at a good tandem battle..i have to credit that to my ae86 driving days.. lots of gear shifting, forcing weight shift, and clutch kicks galore..lol. in my following section of the tandem.. i straightened too much in 2 sections and was able to make a pass at one point with a 3cyl ka but the aggressive driving and pass did not make up for the loss of drift.. so the suspension setup is spot on now but the engine issues must be addressed. the injector had died on me.. but now that that is fixed it still doesnt feel as peppy as it was when i first got the car.. perhaps 3cyl drifting took its toll?

What you plan to work on next eventstill dialing in the car..i wanna continue to progress with my consistency and run the gangsta line..lol.

as of rd 4 i am now motivated to progress and see just how far i can go.. after fighting the car on 3cyl and still making a run at a podium spot.. i have no excuses on not taking a top spot with a perfect running car.. i plan on making the car problem free and really put effort into my driving and see what i can do. i did gain new confidence in my driving and a new appreciation for the car as well..

haha thats cause 90 percent of the people in this section still refer to sliding around a empty parking lot or interstection as drifting..lol

i need to update with the buildup of my current s13.. i think u guys will enjoy it.. in fact im starting to actually like the s chassis.. if u guys remember ive had 3 or 4 but i keep selling them and going back to ae86s.. if come to appreciate what the s13 can do and im happy with it overall.

thanx man.. i found out the other day that i think i qualified like number 1 overall at the last event which makes me feel real good about drifting the s13.. all in all its a good year for me i guess.

currently im debating what my next mod will be for the s13 but i cant find anything that i should really improve on the car..lol.. i been looking into a header for a little more umph or even some more suspension parts for some adjustability but i can t find anything more i want the car to do in terms of handling.. feels about like i like it as is.

thats a nice little list u put together bro.. i been debating the roll center adjuster or bump steer spacers as a lot of people call them.. i can see needing those at my cars current ride height.. and a cage would be nice as well..

i know what most of the other parts do and what u can do with them.. but i cant see wanting to make the car respond any differently than it does now.. im sure in time i may wanna change it up a bit but for now i think its spot on for my driving style.. the extra grip i get in the rear actually helps in that it allows me to be on throttle harder and more angle without the risk of over rotating due to too much throttle.. which makes for longer higher angle smokier drifts in the end...hehe.. though its a ***** for some guys to slide as u have to work at it to keep it going.

either way im still going through the motions with this car see what i can do to make the most difference..

when the front tension bushings go ill opt for adjustable pcs as well but right now the rubber is still in tact if u can believe it..lol. been looking at some sway bars to change it up a bit but i dunno yet.. still reading and learning and trying to get feedback from the car as to what i want it to do and what it does when i want it to.

Word , thats cool man but seat time is more important than parts , but parts are like crack , you just have to buy them. There is company that sells Roll Center Adjusters called Moon Face.

thanx ill check that out..

yeah u are right thats why i havent put anything else on the car.. all i did was add collars cause the bushings were shot.. the silk roads were already on it.. and i put a kaaz 2 way in it cause it was open diff... thats pretty much all i have on the car.. like i said im still learning the car and i havent found anything i wanna make the car do that it doesnt do right now anyway.. so i cant find anything i NEED for the car..

other than the roll centers... the cars ride height is way too low the front cross member is about an inch and half off the ground id say.. id just raise it up but the coilovers have been at that height for over a year i know and the collars are frozen.. i got 2 loose to adjust height but the other 2 are permanently dropped..lol. as a result my front lower control arms are already pointing to the sky.. what that does in the end is rather than the control arms compressing with the suspension to absorb the bump.. i usually lose feedback from the front wheels as they loose contact with the surface from the shock of a bump...

wouldnt mean much on a perfectly flat surface but a lot of places we drift will try to incorporate any imperfections int he surface to add a twist to the course..dips are common at myrtle beach just to make it that much harder. the trick is to hit them sideways but if u hit them in a transfer u usually spin out or undeersteer in my car as the front of the car loses traction at the wrong time..lol.. im sure i could get a little more consistent at avoiding them at the wrong angle but it would be that much easier if i didnt have to tie that into my line already.. mainly in tandem where your line is more open as u have to adjust to the driver u are running with at times.

but yeah ill look into those guys man.. thanx for the link

Do you have aftermarket sway bars? I could not believe how much they helped. They keep my car so flat when cornering its amazing. And they do aid in getting your car sideways.

See , sometimes you need parts. If you upgrade one area of the car and leave another area stock , both areas suffer. I know a few people that have really nice coilovers set to stiff IMO and all their suspension arms are stock and their cars do not feel that good at all.

Heres my build thread , i have just enough stuff to the point where im happy with how my car performs. Next is Brakes and Master Bushing upgrade then im done for a long time.

dude thats an awesome build log.. doesnt get more in depth than that.. i dont have the patience to update everytime i do something.. your coupe is coming along hella nice man.. dont care what u say all my car has is flashy paint and me and a friend did that ourselves..

that is awesome man.. u said the same thing i say stiff chassis and soft suspension... my car actually wants to grip.. thats how i set them up.. i dont want a loose oversteer car.. sux for real drifting in my opinion but again i see guys driving cars like that all the time.. for me it seems to make it easier to control at high speed which is what i love anyway hi speed hi angle.. 8 and 6 kg is pretty soft for a 240 id think thats usually what i ran on ae86s.. most people ran 6 and 4.7 on the ae86.. my springs were a bit stiffer but i had full interior and i softened the dampers..

i currently run the fronts at like halfway and the rear at 1 below half if i recall i played with them for 2 events and found a setting that is working now.. wouldnt mind a little more fine tuning but im waiting to feel the need to make the car do more.. havent found it yet.

how does the lower tie bar help? i was looking at those.. seems that it would make it feel more direct on turn in which is a good thing..

yeah i looked at sway bars.. i feel that a stiffer sway is better than a stiffer spring.. the stiffer sway will help the body roll as will the spring but the stiff spring will make it more prone to be unstable over bumps and in general.

man now u got me contemplating parts and i havent been looking into anything..haha. i just dont wanna buy anything yet till i see a definite need for it.

ill postup the parts list on my car in its thread when i get a chance it isnt as long as yours but itll give u an idea of what i run and it works for me so far.

Yea i wrecked. But you know what real car guys do when we wreck , we upgrade!!! Bought me a subframe for $150 in great condition with minor surface rust that i took care of , prepped and painted it with black gloss rustoleum , turned out nice. I took off all the damaged arms and they are getting replaced with oem ones and pressing in all new Energy Suspension bushings and also bought new rear ball joints. Should be on the road in a few weeks , i still need to get some tie rod outers.

Thats from his experience with his stock VLSD in his Z33. He bought a KAAZ 2 way and hes been rippin it up since.

My friend Ross still has the VLSD in his Z33 and at the last CL event he was definitely spinning them both but he needs a lot more practice to make it to B. I noticed his car understeers like a B*tch and he never has enough steering angle at full lock to keep his drifts going.

Good stuff above....

and slappy man i hear you.. i missed what was suppose to be my first event when i got back from Iraq at ODS.. after the event, i fixed the issue.. Pissed was I man. Nate Braz and dado where there, i would have loved to ride in the cars to see how they slide.

First name / car used in event

Donald / 89 Ka-T 240s

Event Name , Location & Date

Drift Nirvana, Summit point Virginia May 25, 2008

How did you think you did?

After my 3 runs on the circuit with my new Azenis, i realized that these tires were to grippy for my skill, not to mention this was my first event since getting back home. I spent the rest of my day on the skid pad getting my balance back.

Were you happy with your setup?

I was very happy with my setup, i made a list of screwed up things at my event back in 07 at ODS. i was very happy with the response of the mods and feed back from my front tires.

What you plan to work on next event

for the next event i plan to heat the falkens prior to my runs and see how it goes this time around, if not, ill have some junkers with me. this will be my second event at ODS, I may attempt the oval this time probably toward the exit until i get comfortable with attempting the whole thing.

Event Name , Location & Date

How did you think you did?

for my first Auto-x event, it was a blast. I was not a registered scca member this time around so i didn't have the pressure on my shoulders of trying to get the best time. The High level drivers turned times of about 54 seconds or so. my best time of the day was 67 seconds.

Were you happy with your setup?

My setup was the same as the Drift Nirvana event, i just lowered the tire pressure. I am running JIC FLT-A1's they are old but get the job done, the fronts seem to be on the way out and JIC does not rebuild the older coilovers.

What you plan to work on next event

Find the course on the first run and its all good from that point.

Event Name , Location & Date

SCCA WDCR Auto-x School Level 1, Fed Ex Field Washington DC, June 28, 2008

How did you think you did?

I found the course the first time around, although this was an instructed school, I still attacked it right away. At the finish of the day after doing more research, I had the 4th fastest time of the day at 35 seconds behind two Porsche's and a s2k.

Were you happy with your setup?

the only down side to my setup was, my Falken Rt-615's were not responsive after 3-4 runs. due to the amount of runs and the short amount of time, my car ran a little hot and i have never had an issue with temperatures. I would add a bigger radiator, but my time is short here in the states.

What you plan to work on next event

at the next school i attend anywhere, ill bring more than one set of tires and to all my events, ill bring a Pressurized sprayer filled with ice cold water.
