This weekend I went racing and this guy in a wrx asked me if I was going to put in THE SR. I told him no, the car's already turboed. So he said, yeah I know, but I was just wondering.

What an idiot. I just spent $4000 to turbo my 240. Does he think I want to spend that much money again to get an SR and then go through the trouble of installing it etc etc? People these days.

Ya I know what you mean. You gotta cut people some slack though. If they dont spend time on NICO and stuff then they really wouldn't know the power a KA can produce. It's really not their fault. Open any magazine and you'll see SR, after SR, after SR, and the openning paragraph always says "SO AND SO was tired of their truck engine and he decided to upgrade to the super JDM tyte SR baby! OH yea OH yeah, IT FEELS SO GOOD.... im tired."

he probally had no idea what kind of engine you had in there. everyone these days thinks that the SR is the greatest motor on the planet because of F&F. Not saying the SR is crap just saying some people are stupid.

BTW did you beat the wrx?

^^^Ya, the evil chinese guy wanted to put one in his S2000. It was gay.I'm tired of SR/KA arguments. There is enough love to like them both. Both are good engines. Nissan boys need to join forces and take over rice one Honda at a time!

I am definately going to keep the KA and possibly turbo it. I live in Cali, so the emissions laws are insane ;)

why do some ppl think that a turbocharged KA engine will have a better chance at passing smog than an sr?? it wont!!! turbocharged ka's are ILLEGAL esp. in CA! INfact the SR would prob have a better chance at passing visual bc the stock sr turbocharger isnt as visible.

not to bash or anything ,but you have an SR, and therefore may have somehwat of a biased opinion, just as the guys who want to keep the KA and turbo it say they have a better chance of passing emissions. Its all relative. Im an SR/CA/RB/KA, fan myself, love and respect all engines, none more than any other, just gotta see em as what they were built for

LOL, I LOVE talking about my project car. It starts with the are you gonna put in a SR coment then after I say no they ask about an RB, if Im gonna turbo the KA. After I say no all to all of these I tell em Im gonna put a 1.8 in it. CA all the way.

Unfortunately no. I was only running 7 psi while he was at about 16.5 and he had much more money into his wrx than me. It was a good race though, about 3-4 lengths which put me at about a high 13 to low 14 which is about what I expect. I also raced a bpu FD and lost by about the same margin.

I speak from experience and what i have learned. Im not saying so and sos engine is better for smogging. all im saying is that either way you slice it its the same result, theyre illegal. A KA-T isnt gonna have a better chance at passing smog than an sr & visa versa (sp?).

of if they ask "are you gonna put a sr in there?"You reply with, "which one" that usually leaves them pretty dumbfounded and feeling stupid

i know, and i agree, but everyone who has an SR says the same tihng you do, and everyone whos got KA-T says the opposite, although i must admit, it doesnt make anysense that a KA-T or SR would perform better in smog if they had the same turbo/exhaust etc

So does a Ka-T have the same torque? I haven't had any experiances with them. What it boost at? how's the power band?
