Haha. The only bad thing about painting is prices have gone up for rattling, but not more than a dollar a can in the last year. Other than that I wish i had broadfields electrocoating device so i didnt have to paint my hardware. Looks kinda iffy when its painted because the sockets strip paint slightly.

UPDATE: Easter break means more motor prep, shell purchase is moved back to next Thursday because the guy who's towing for me got a job and had training today. Sorry, but I'm not releasing pics of it until I sign the title over guys.

First thing is just finishing cosmetics, the water pump pulley holder was really starting to rust, so i hit it with a freeze pop (actually rust converter to primer) and then the semi gloss.

That being taken care of, I did the power steering bracket in the same phase paint after prepping: rust converter to primer, then semigloss. Coming together, but the alternator support needs refurbished now! (not done in this pic yet)

After that I decided to clean the motor againnnnn! I really hope the grass survives all that degreaser...

My bell housing is chipped slightly from the steering rack bushing bolt hitting the trans during the accident, so...I got side tracked and started swapping bell housings; scott flanegan's (from york) old bad synchro 2nd gear trans: Just using the bell housing for mine: I had this laying around, he was going to throw it away. It pays to be a pack rat wrt car parts!

You can see my chipped on on the left, it was still very functional, but why not make it perfect The trans stands upright without help to put the new one back on. MMMMMM red RTV sealant ftw.

Trans done: I'll pick a paint color for it later.

Alternator bracket on and I wet sanded some of the motor with 2000 grit. It sanded the corrosion right off and looks wayyy better! That is all, rear main seal (maybe front) tomorrow.

Looks as if that crank pulley needs a good cleaning and paint job. The main question in my head is, when are you going to get a big turbo and make some power?

a big turbo isnt in the plans, at least not for the time being. looking really good tom, but i still suggest you paint the block and head, not just clean it. if you do the front main seal, you'll def need to rent a puller. i thought i'd add a few pics you'd appreciate. let me know when you want to come get it

WEEEEEEEEE I am so excite! It even came with a damn O ring! Remember our trials and tribulations of finding one last time!!!???Editing just to say it's the original SQV again. I have my reasons for loving this BOV no matter how old school it is freakin thumbs up (o.o)b

Lol Razi I'm sorry, but yeah its fresh as hell after a few hours spent. Well letting paint dry takes time but I had the trans to keep me busy. I'll probably paint it all silver or black, or both like a 2 tone, but that seems kinda iffy.

I will not paint the block jeff! Sanding it really helped, but if i had a media blaster that blasted glass media, it would look brand spankin new. I have done research on this.Just a tip:Don't ever steel wool your aluminum cast parts, the bits and ends will stick in it and rust.

Regular size turbo is staying. If you felt my shaft (lawl) you'd know why. Keeps spinning nicer than any stock bearing t25 i have felt. I should get a real camera and take high res pics of the turbine fans, they're all so perfect and white right now.

I'm borrowing a neighbor's pulley puller tomorrow, so obviously I plan on doing the crank pulley. I do not really anticipate doing teh alternator pulley because I desire aluminum pulleys anyway.

lol i'm well aware you'll never paint it, and i know media blasting would be best, but for me it wasn't an option, so i painted it, and i guarantee it'll look cleaner. yeah i remember walking around Ace hardware looking for an o ring that would work.
