so the turbine sensor on the car i'm buying is leaking. I'm wondering if I should just replace the gasket or if I should just kick down the extra cash to replace the sensor while I've the transmission down.

Im not sure if its the sensor that leaks or the gasket, have you searched the forum on this subject (hate to sound like that but I cant answer your question directly)

huh? you are going to do the labor to drop the transmission and not replace every serviceable wearout item while it's so easy to do?

check the rear main seal, and trans front seal (behind torq conv) while you are in there. order your stuff from IoS and you can return what you don't use.

rear O2's are easy on Fy33 (very accessible) or I'd suggest those too.

Have Eric at Beaverton Infiniti inspect it for you. Could save you a lot of heartache and help you budget.

Thats exactly what I planned on doing, didn't want to drop the whole transmission. I've got a cherry picker to support the engine though. my only question was if the sensor is not bad than why replace it? it appears that all the Y33's have leaking turbine sensors but I have not seen any references to a bad one. do they go bad often?

If a turbine sensor is leaking, it is deemed failed.

Fair enough, I'll go ahead and replace it then.so then I need to build a todo list for the Q I'm buying next week (pending my bank that is)... its a 97 non touring and has 97Kmi and dealer inspection showed leaking turbine sensor, leaking valve cover gasket and a cracked strut mount.

Todo list with the new Q, in this order:replace turbine sensor.flush fluids: brake, ATF, PS, diff, oil.(is that all of them?)replace valve cover gaskets and spark plugs while in there.run a can of that BG44K stuff through there that you guys call magic sauce.lower with teins and KYB's, fix strut mount while here.Wheels & tiresPaint front bumper (has a bunch of scuff marks on it) and lower valences.Tint windowsStereo
