I need to get back in there to do the KS harnes. This really boils my blood.

Does anybody have a step by step write up on this?

He has directions for doing it without removing the plenum. I have 2 extra plugs and need to take the plenum off.

I have the same dilemma - the harness has 4 connectors. I'm thinking of splicing the existing harness connector and reusing the existing wires that go to two solenoids (two shorter ones) , and using the wires from the new harness to connect with 2 KS.

I dont hide anything He is Russian just like I am. I sent him an e-mail containing info on how no to screw up KS R+R. Michael (Q_Ship) Don't take plenum off. It's a major PITA. I assure you it is as much complicated as G50 if not more. Go in from the front, I know you have to drain coolant. So no secrets !Cheers!

You've got a 97- the KS harness has 2 connectors. No plenum removal is needed for you - follow Petr's advise. Unfortunatelly, in my case (99Q) the harness has 4 connectors - had to remove the plenum to replace the KS.

Yes, this is correct. 99 is different. I followed the steps to do the KS themselves. My mechanic told me he would charge $100 to go back in there and install the harness. I don't think he knew what he was getting himself into. So I eagerly brought the car to him and he did only charge me $100 for the job He had it all day.

I haven't call about the price on the harness. How much does it cost for a new one? Just want an idea before I start calling. Looks like I am going to replace with knock sensors at the same time as well.

Thank you for such BIG help. Saves me TONs of time.

I don't get it. If you have 2 KS why do you need 4 conn harness? What else is connected to it?In iether case it is not reqired to take the plenum off.

There are two more things connected to the KS harness - to find out what it was I ran a little test by disconnecting the harness and checking the OBDII codes - I got P1105 and P1400 in addition to P0330 and P0325 (KS codes). P1105 is Manifold Absolute Pressure Switch Solenoid Valve, and P1400 is EGRC Solenoid Valve. They decided to use one harness for four different things under the plenum - probably to cut cost. Another example of cost cutting is the fuel injector harness on the pass. side - engine coolant temp sensor shares it w/ the injectors.

It is impossible to disconnect the KS harness from MAP & EGR valves without removing the plenum on 99Q. The reason to replace the KS harness for me was very obvious - the rodents decided to have the pieces of wire for lunch.

Cheap bastards!I work with 7.3 TD Internationals E450 (FORD) Access busses! Talk about tight places I've removed/replaced things (to my sup amazement) by cutting corners which other mechanics couldn't figure out!I'am not saying I am the best, I am lazy to follow the normal flow of R+R!Cheers! I would have figure it out w/o plenum work - I am more than certain about it. I just have not had chance to see 99 Y33 up close and personal Cheers!
