There they are - little devils "KS" themselves. The short rubber hose is a PITA to get out. You need to get a bit more access to 12 mm bolts that hold KS to the block.

If it ain't broke, dont fix it! On Y33 there is nothing under plenum (one stinking hose) and 2 KS besides bunch of sand and other garbage I think I would take my 1-2 days to get everything back together if I took plenum off. on 4.1L you have to remove entire fuel system (rails, injectors) and half a dozen vacuum hoses. It is a bit more complicated that 4.5L "spider" plenum. If I didn't take a nap in between I would have done it in ~2 hrs. Cheers!

Not to reserect an old thread but this is to Far fetched

I did my KS a while ago and im kicking myself for not doing the harness cuz thats gone now.

I just got the new harness and it has 4 plugs. 2 for the KS and 3 that must plug into the car somewhere. Where do the other 2 plug into? Can this be done without pulling it all apart again?

What do you mean KS harnes is gone? What happened to it?Unfortuanely, you would have to pull alternator (at least) and fish harnes out with long pick tool and A LOT OF PATIENCE. Also, you can try going from behind where the transmission "dip"stick is. Just make sure you clear everything before you stick your hand in ther. I don't want to see chronicles from hospital with pics of your hand stuck under the plenum and a doc extracting it! Regarding 4 plug harnes BSOM I don't know!P.S sorry to hear that you gotta do it again.

Have you figured out where do the other 2 plugs go? I have the same harness w/ 4 connectors and about to change the KS.

Wes, thanks, but I don't think they go to the temp sensors. I ran a little test by disconnecting the harness and checking the OBDII codes - I got P1105 and P1400 in addition to P0330 and P0325 (the reason to replace 2 KS). P1105 is Manifold Absolute Pressure Switch Solenoid Valve, and P1400 is EGRC Solenoid Valve. What's involved in getting to these 2 devils ?

Not that I've seen them in person, but they are located way in the back of the engine bay (of course). The good news is they're right on top of one another. The bad news is they're under the plenum. Could be a harness is disconnected, but I'll suggest you may just have a disconnected vacuum line back there.

Did you ever find out why the harness has 4 connectors? I need to know to determine if I really have to remove the plenum. Otherwise I will take Farfetched's method.

I am just wondering does this harness sold by itself or you have to buy more than that? $$?

just completed the knock sensor replacement on my 1999 q45t without taking out the plenum....man that was nearly impossible! the removal part was easy but threading the ks in place was the most difficult! my 14 y/o son was the one who finally got the bolts in due to his much smaller hands and it still took 2 days of frustration! the good part is that i saved about $800 on labor the bad part, we both have cut up arms and very bruised hands.
