ok, has any one tested the flow of the greddy manny compared to the XO2?

has anyone used and had problems with it?

can equal air flow problems to each cylinder be fixed by gasket matching the manifold to the gasket?

reason being is i like the fitment of the greddy intake manny but cant afford the price.

what i heard:-XO2 uses inferior sand casting method -possible non equal air flow to cylinders

what i think:- assuming the flow is equal and all cylinders are getting the right amount of air, and the manifold just has a bad rep for crappier casting method wouldn't it still still recieve better flow on the X02 manifold compared to stock?

__well time to sleep, ill see what you guys say in the morning

um most people who are going to flow test a manifold wouldnt even consider buying a cheap chinese knockoff. dont know what you are expecting man.

do it right the first time, or dont do it. thats always been my motto.

my car came with one in the trunk and the casting is pretty rough. I have one local guy that has done work on a few motorcycle heads for me. I might be able to get him to flow test the manifold but no idea when I will get that done. Im just now getting my car going so ill try to post something up when I get to that stage

IMO, unless your HP goals make the greddy intake a must your wasting your time.

I really don't "need" one but want one for fitment purposes with I/C plumbing. I am going to buy it last. I am sure I will gain some HP, but not as much as upgraded turbo etc...

I have looked at all the chinese knockoffs and can't justify $$ on something that may not work well (or maybe worse then stock).

Knockoffs suck for me because I always wonder in the back of my mind what I actually got.

I dont think its such a bad peice. Im getting one. If you cant find any major flaw in it why wouldn't it be a great product.

the chinese are masters at reverse engineering. just look at their Air force. They sucessfully reverse engineered the Blackhawk helicopter. that is pretty amazing. my view on knockoffs: if they capture the essence or intent of the original part, then great! the question is, what makes the greddy plenum a performance enhancement, and does the knockoff capture that? it is also a moral issue. someone is stealing Greddy's R&D. if you are ok with that, then g'head and boost the chinese economy.

id think twice about buying a china knock off of products that have many moving parts and need close tolerances. they can handle casting a manifold. its prob the exact same specs made from casting the original manifold. bet its even done right next to the factory in china that greddy out sources it to. i have never seen one in person, so my opinion is worth about as much as a can of creamed corn.

edit,,, ---- damnit you above me!!! didnt notice how old this thread is.

Freddy manifolds are notorious for having several pinholes in them because the casting job is ****. As a matter of fact, a friend of mine has one on his SR20 im tuning right now and it has a hole in it right on the 4th intake runner next to the injector isolator.

that right there gentlemen is a true statement. I bought one about 1 1/2 years ago and yes i will have to say that the casting sucked. Not quality at all. Yes the manifold did have pinholes but not all the way through.

The sad thing about the greddy manifold is that it is just a cast aluminum piece, although a pretty decent casting. I could cnc one out of a solid billet for less money. The cost of a billet manifold would be around 500 for material, which on average is 350 dollars less then a greddy. I might be offering a few manifolds for sale when i finish my design. It will be a surge tank style manifold with velocity stacks and the option of ITB's for the RBBA .

looking for more updates

if a guy is worried about pinholes a powder coating job for less then $50 and you can have any color and a protective coat over the enite manifold

I purchased 3 different greddy manifolds from 3 different places to find out they were on 6mos back order. I went the xo2 route. I ordered the polished one expecting it to be polished aluminum in fact it is chrome. The chrome wasn't the prettiest so i sandblasted it and powdercoated it aluminum color. If your going to go xo2 make sure you get the chrome one because the manifold is pretty smooth and requires no sanding(at least mine didn't) for a nice finish. ill post a picture of it later.

I have one due to the back order issue also .I had mine match ported ,internally honed, and psi tested to 30 psi the casting was sub par but I will be powder coating it . It took alot of work to get it to this state. It is currently at the powder coaters .I matchported it to the head when It was at the machine shop being flowbenched using the gizmo phonelic gasket .With some work you can pick up some good volume and velocity but it does cost some coin to get it done right.

HAHAHA... good luck finding a real greddy manifold now... Greddy/Trust Japan is finished and is shutting down. You can thank all the bungholes that contributed by purchasing greddy knock-offs....

I to have one but didnt do any porting. Threw it right on after a visual inspection. No leaks and sealed great. I too will probably be powder coating mine. The manifold tends to get pretty hot.

quality alternative, yes. price alternative, no.

This won't be a cast aluminum manifold, actually more higher end unit.
