Hey guys (Y50 and Y51 alike),

So a few months ago we had a few posts about mirroring our phones to our screens...someone mentioned a company in Russia that does it. That company is called "Xanavi" and they are actually based in Estonia on the border of the two countries. I recently came upon a post of theirs on the FB group and decided to have a conversation with them. It was in Russian so I won't be copy and pasting but the gist of it is:

1) IF you have an AUX port in your car, your can buy a device for $150 USD (+ around $20 in shipping) that will allow you to mirror your iPhone or Android device to your car. It's mostly plug'n'play and only a couple of wires I guess.
2) If you do NOT have an AUX port in your car there are two options:
  • Option 1 - Send them your module (I couldn't quite confirm what module that is - there must be some kind of A/V module?) so they can reprogram it for AUX ($200) and Video On Demand ($100) and they send it back. Based on it being in Estonia, you're likely to be without A/V for a good 3-4 weeks if I had to guess (not information they gave me, I just have family in Ukraine which is in the same part of Europe so I know how long shipping, etc. takes).
  • Option 2 - They purchase everything that is necessary for your car including another A/V module and you pay them $1,300 USD to do all of the work of which $800 is a deposit. Once you receive their unit and send your core to them, they refund the $800 deposit so the total comes out to be $500.
Here is the other discussion: mirabox-in-m-g-series-t618571.html

I personally would love to have this in my car but at the moment, because I'm about to start house shopping, I can't justify $500 or even $250. $150 was manageble but anything more is not doable for me.

For me, uses would be:

1) WAZE! OMG WAZE FOR SURE! (greatest tech invention ever lol - saved my bacon a few times)
2) Google Maps (way better than Infiniti maps AND you don't have update them every year or other year and pay $150) + traffic reporting, etc. (XM NavTraffic was hot garbage for me unless I was in like 3 or 4 MAJOR US cities)
3) Spotify on screen, etc.

I was all ready to buy for $150 but then I discovered that while I have a DISC/AUX button my radio, I don't actually have an AUX input anywhere. What package has that? As far as I knew my car is fully loaded (speakers in seats, java leather, intelligent cruise, etc. etc. etc.).

As far as I know...this is for 2006-2013 M's...

If someone was the guinea pig, particularly Y51, I'd love to see this in action on our cars and how the task to install was, etc.

I would also be interested for that price on a Y50. My M35x has the Bose system but no AUX input anywhere.

Considering how useless the stock Navi is, I'd really like to have the option to screen mirror. The idea of shipping part of the car out for that long doesn't sound appealing though lol.

Also I'm not sure any Y51 has an actual AUX port...I'm curious as to why they even list Option 1 in light of this

Yeah that was what caused me to not go through with it. Maybe they *think* it can work for our car but in reality there is no way.
