Yeah, I'm not sure where all the trouble comes from. I've used the bleeder screw with brand new motors completely empty of coolant and never once had problems with bubbles in the system or overheating. :gotme

can anyone tell me quickly which side of the thermostat has the temp sensing element. the side into the block, or facing the radiator?

I got it back from a professional and now it slightly begeins to overheat. the the tstat seems to open up and i felt the bottom hose get hot once. and now its back cool.

Does the sttat only open when its hot or is it supposed to stay open or slightly open at all times?

So if my head compression comes back ok, cand I only have a problem with the TSTAT in, and uve bled and tried all hell, would drilling the jiggle valve hole open, or running a Swirl pot eliminate the air problem?

Im using an autozone tstat because I couldn't get the nissan tstat to work.

Even with the autozone, had to jack up the car til it got too hot, cool down, add coolant, repeat.

Drive the car down the block til it got hot, park it and do the same thing. Over and over til I got all the air out.

It doesnt help that my autometer water temp is in place of the bleeder screw, and the stock temp sensor is unplugged(it's not accurate at all)

Im strongly considering drilling tiny holes in the nissan thermostat to fix this issue.

Next time though, when I replace it with a mishimoto.

yea i tried drilling holes in it today, and it seems to be tough metal or i had the wrong bit.

So if its an air problem, holes would work it out? It runs fine without the tstat. im guessing it would take longer to warm up. how many holes and at what size? I have another mechanic that is going to bleed it for me again tomorrow. Last time another guy bled it, i drove 2 hours before the car got hot. it climbed, then went down. 30 mins. later it got hot hot.

Sounds like you need to rent a cooling pressure tester and check for leaks

Air is the problem. After it starts to get hot, park and and fill it back up each time it cools.

It should take a little water each time.

Make whatever size holes you can and try the top 1/3 of the thermo?

It's a royal pain but I can assure you it's all the air to blame.

I forgot to add,

the autozone thermo I have has a weaker spring than the Nissan one so I was able to jam 2 aspirins in and get most of the air out, but it still took forever to get the rest lol.

Pressure test has been done as well. Ive bought this car in october, parked it in december for winter, hadnt drove it since.

Next time I'll bleed twice then. Try holes maybe next.

just an update, its warm again, so i pick te car up from shop that was looking for me a new engine. I remove the Tstat, drove the car 130 miles in 74F weather, at operating temp the hold time, and hoses are holding pressure, however both did feel a bit warm. Is there a chance that i still have an internal leak?
