thanks for all of corrections, and yes i meant they all had the sr block , not neccasrily the turbo, and also, u are correct about some of the s13 fastbacks having the sr2odet, however, were they still called 18oSX's or just silvias then??, and one small correction wanted to make about teh 27oR, it had 245ft lbs of tq, in my last post i mistyped and put 345, so ooops on that one, and yes the sileighty's were produced by Kids Heart, but i thought nissan was involved in that in someway as well, perhaps 'allowing' KH to produce the sileighty?yeswepromise wrote:no. many had sr20det.
no. some had sr20de.
not actually produced by nissan. Kid's Heart made them. 270R is awesome.
correct about your lil trivia question, in europe and such, it is known as the 2oosx, as far as the changes to the sr2odet motor in 1996.5, it was minor ECU changes and such, nothing that would actually effect the car's power output, and thus for the minor changes, they also changed the color of the valve cover, perhps just for easier recognitionWingsNThangs wrote:More trivia:
Starting in 1991, all JDM 180SX's carried the SR20DE or SR20DET engines. In 1996.5, the turbocharged engines (not sure about the N/A ones) underwent another change from redtop SR to blacktop SR, but the specs remained the same. Fundamentally, there was only a change in color,
Q: Wait a minute, then why was it still called 180SX? Wouldn't the name imply 1.8L engine rather than the SR's 2.0L engine?
A: The 180SX name simply stuck in Japan. However in other parts of the world, such as Australia and Europe, the 180SX became changed its name to 200SX (only in North America is the 200SX a Sentra) after the engine changed from CA18 to SR20. The JDM 180SX carried the 2.0L engine until the chassis was discontinued altogether in 1998.
