ZENKI - First generation S13 (USDM 240SX=1989-1990) or First generation S14 (US 240SX=1995-1996)CHUKI - Second/Middle generation S13 (US 240SX=1991-1993)KOUKI - Third/Last generation S13 (USDM didn't get these, but in Japan they were around from 1997-1999)

i didnt think the s13s were made past 94 (wihch was the last year for them here, not 93) even in japan, and also, the 95-99' was the s14 era, for both japan and u.s (although u.s stopped giving us s14s in 98, and 97-98 had slanted headlights), and s15s (never offered here) were from oo-o2, so is kouki the slant eyed s14 or both s14s?

the later 180sx's were call the kouki style, and the slant eyed s14s were the chuki i think, but they might be kouki also.

Zenki=95-96 240sx or s14Kouki=97-98 240sx or s14(JDM kouki is up to 99 or 2000 or whenever they switched to s15 over there)

there is a bit of confusion here... one says zenki is 95-96 and the other says 89-90.....

im guessing zenki and kouki are the name of the stylists?? but in japan they got the s15 by 2ooo, the states never got these (nor did we get the last year of the s14, 99) so for the most part jonI3laze is correct, and the chuki is hte s13s (from 89-94)

Holistic and JohnBlaze are both correct from what I have heard.

Zenki = 89-90 s13 + 95-96 s14Chuki = 91-94 s13Kouki = 94.5+ s13 (Japan 180sx ONLY) + 97-98 s14a

If there is a "first" there is a "last". Zenki means first style, kouki means last style. Chuuki is the middle style. These terms to styles in appearance characteristics (notice the front bumpers and rear taillights of the cars)

S13 chassis:zenki = 1989-90 USDM 240SX fastback, 1989-90 JDM 180SX (pignose front bumper characteristic)chuki = 1991-93 USDM 240SX fastback, 1991-1996.5 JDM 180SX (rounded front bumper characteristic)kouki = 1996.5-1998 JDM 180SX (more edged front bumper, different taillights, different spoiler)

Not sure how it is with S13 coupes, USDM and JDM.

S14 chassis:zenki = 1995-96 USDM 240SX, 1995-96 JDM Silvia (round headlights, different taillights)kouki = 1997-98 USDM 240SX, 1997-98 (slanted headlights, different taillights)

and to fix a minor problem to WINGSNTHANGS' post, the japanese s14 silvia was offerend in 1994

My bad, i knew there was something wrong about the JDM S14 years in my post. Seemed too identical to USDM...

Yes, S13 and S14 chasses coexisted in production. Only in North America was it consecutive, one following another. In Japan, S13 chasses were officially being cranked out of the factory from 1989(or 1988, whatever)-1998 while S14 was being produced from 1994-1998. Causes some confusion because S13 and S14 were both known as 240SX in North America, while S13 and S14 were given 180SX and Silvia designations.
