When you mod a car, you're usually not adding any resale value to it. Expensive stereos, new wheels, and custom paint jobs rarely make the car worth any more than if it were "stock". Most mods are done just because you enjoy those new items and it makes the car more personal. With that in mind, it doesn't matter if you have a base model or the fully loaded model with all the options. There is no reason NOT to mod it based soley on the trim level you bought.

One of the things you have to do is remove the inner fender liner, so yes, having the car on jack stands is rather necessary.

yeah man. doesn't matter what trim or transaxle you get, modify for yourself. ironically i didn't really have any trouble getting a 6-speed. the dealer actually said that most people were requesting autos and CVTs over manuals.

The first time I used the carjack that came with the car and I put the tire underneath the car just in case.

The second time I did not remove the wheel, you do need to remove the fender liner as stated by Ever Victorious. But only enough to have space for your hands and intake.

If you ever decide to install it I will be glad to answer any questions, even walk you through the process, its not that difficult and I know very little about mechanics.

Just wondering, what kind of hp can the auto transmission handle? Your V is turbo'ed...that's why I ask.

Your Versa looks great by the way.

my two cents. intakes are a 1 on a scale of 1-10 for difficulty i did it in 45 mins. without jack stands. had to take the battery out little space to work with. "YOU CAN DO IT"- WE CAN HELP!

That's why I make sure I can bring it back to stock. This way I can keep all of the equipment and either part it out or use it later.

I hear ya! That's the best way to do it if you can. I've seen many times when mods actually lower the resale value of a car. If you can take them off without a trace, you keep the value up and you still have your goodies to use again or sell on ebay.

It gets up to 175 HP...still in no competition to drag, but when I street race, it really helps alot.

And thank you : )

So does anyone really know what the power-handling capacity is for the auto transmission, though? I know that some older Nissan automatics are famous for not being able to handle much more power than comes stock, say maybe 15 hp over stock, before they start to slip and give out under heavy driving. You're making 50+ more hp than stock, so I was wondering if you had considered some sort of auto-transmission bolstering like level-10.

It cost me only $50 since a friend of mine did it as a favor.

The power is...and this is a bold statement...one that is comparatively to a 2007 Mustang.

We do not condone street racing here on this board!

So why then would you buy a Versa? And why run NOS in a Versa?

I am dubious of the stock automatic transmission's ability to handle 175 hp for very long without issues, as well.

Also, who are you sponsored by, and for what? Street racing?

Who cares what he does with his car or what transmission he has, if you don't like it then leave your comments to yourself, but it still does not justify the fact of street racing which is not condoned here.

Ah, settle down now, Clipsed.

As has been discussed ad nauseum, turbos aren't readily available for the MR18, they're usually one-off creations. Plus, also a topic that has been beat to death, it seems silly to purchase a soft econo car to create a street beast. To each his own, but you've sure got an uphill battle.

Furthermore, I wonder about the validity of the 175 hp claim - as well as the conventional automatic transmission's ability to hold up under 50+ more horsepower than for which it was designed.

As you said, to each his own, just let it be. If he wants to boost an econo car, than so be it. I have better cars to put my money into to turbo charge.

Considering the rarity of MR18 turbos, is it wrong of forum members to ask for a little proof to validate such claims? I didn't put him down and I already complimented the appearance of his Versa.

Plus, your little "I have better cars to put my money into" could be filed under "keep your comments to yourself". Just FYI.
