I can easily, easily say: NEVER, EVER for me!!

Let alone with a camcorder in one hand, and holding on to a guide wire with the other (in certain sections only) - without any rope on his body, at the speed at which this person does this walk!

Hope this is not a repost!

No, I wouldn't but it's a helmet cam, not a hand held. Crazy stuff!

Doesn't look like it would be much worse them mountain climbing.

You got a real good place to put your feet, and a line to hang on to.

One of the places I read about this video said "hand-held" camcorder.

Regardless of which, scary for me ... you experienced mountain climbers might say otherwise, I suppose!

Okay.

But, don't you (a) use safety ropes and (b) hook on to lines in those situations and (b) belay with friends, etc.? Here, it looks like he is cruising simply keeping his hands on the guide wire/rope.

No... not unless I had extensive balance training beforehand and a large sum of money waiting for me at the end.

I'm intrigued as to how this was recorded. It looks as if they used a steadicam of some sort.

Definitely not a hand held, you can see him using both hands at one point with out the camera being shifted.

I wouldn't do it no reason, but it doesn't look THAT crazy to me.

I've hiked on paths that were only a bit wider then the larger portions of that, with no re-enforcement and no wire to hang onto.

If there is a clear, sizeable and steady object for you to put a foot on as well as a line you can constantly hold onto it really does not seem that bad.
You can easily hold your balance, go slow and you foot wont slip... and even if it does your hanging onto a line. As long as your only moving one hand/foot at a time it doesn't seem too crazy.

Not my cup of tea but I'm with Red Coupe on this one, it doesn't look that bad. I've been hiking and rappelling before. I've seen a lot worse. i would avoid the cacti at all costs though.

I sure do!

No way I would attempt this path ... I will bow down to you mountain climber types at the end, rather than put one foot on that broken "pathway".

Okay. I must have missed that ... I will see if I can find the reference to it that claimed it was a hand-held camcorder.

Okay ... at this site: http://www.vacationideas.me/europe/el-c ... way-world/

they say this:
Check out the video below to see how some adventurers have nerves of steel and walk up and down El Caminito del Rey like there is no abyss below them at all. The person who filmed this video also had one of his hands bound as it was holding the camera, so he only had one hand to use to balance himself off. He also didn’t stop at collapsed areas and just walked across the metal beams like it was a sidewalk on the street. True nerves of steel and an amazing sense of balance.

They'z wrong y0! You can see both hands and it's a view of his abdomen for a bit, looks straight down, he's not holding the camera way above his head that long for balance.

If he was holding the camera in his hand, the video would a LOT more shaky IMO

He probably had a helmet with a movable arm for the camera so it could change angles.
He would still have to aim it periodically, so that does add a bit if trouble...

In central VA. There's plenty of cliffs out there that were much scarier.

I'd definitely do it. I love those kinds of precarious hikes. With a wire handhold available at all the remotely iffy spots, I'd feel fine even with a handheld camera.

after the tiniest bit of research, it's currently closed and illegal to walk (due to the lack of safety and dilapidated (i love that word) path), but policing is minimal and plenty of people with something in their sacks still walk it anyways.
