Hello,
I just wanted to tell you that you should do whatever it takes to fight your ticket.......even if it means paying an equivalent amount in lawyer fees, ect to what the Cali court might make you pay. For me, this kind of thing is a matter of principle.
I don't want to start a rambling diatribe about how cops are nothing more than revenue generators for the state they work for, but more and more that's all I see or hear. Such and such city just hired "x" amount of new cops because that state is having a financial dillema...........whatever. Check out the editorial in the newest edition of Car & Driver about Michigan and the screwing they're giving the citizens.......you and your story would fit right in.
The point I'm *trying* to make is that this guy probably thinks he's a really big man because he busted you for driving and upping your penalty in some way makes up for his short comings. I bet he felt like a real "hero" when he pulled you over and had the helicopter do a fly by and "it was a pretty scary moment" for him while he waited for backup to arraive.........whatever.
Sorry, I didn't mean to ramble on and on. Fight it. Take it to a jury of your peers.....get the cop's record; if he has a habit of "scoring big hits" that could work to your advantage. I know all about this BS from my own experiences with small town, small time cops. Believe me, it will be worth it in the end should you be vindicated.
