Keep your head up because you never know what's going to happen. Don't let the hater in this thread get you down. He pretty much does it in almost every thread he's been. It must be a way for him to feel better or something...

BTW, where did this happen? In Berkeley or somewhere else?

this happened in LA... The cop didnt use his radar gun to clock me. he told me he was estimating when he was coming from the opposite direction... I thot that was complete bs... and how can he prove that i was street racing? I am trying to find a good lawyer right now. My mom was damn pissed when she found out about this...i dont wanna go home anymore...

i bet if you were driving a minivan they wouldn't have given you any trouble. I would contest the street racing thing until the bitter end, if you have a clean pretty clean record i dont think they will give you a ton of punishments.

sorry to bring up this old post but for those who cares, my car has finally returned home after 30 days in the impound lot. Luckily they didnt find out the engine and the car is still in one piece. It was really dirty when i got it back so I gave it a very nice bath and hand waxed it afterwards. Other than this small paint chip i discovered on the bumper after getting it back, the car now looks perfect. I drove it this weekend and i never realized how much i missed it. The sound of the turbo spooling never sounded so good.

As for the ticket, i got a lawyer to take care of it. She said shes almost 100% positive that she can get the punishment down to only traffic school and fine. All i can do now is wait for the court day.

I am glad that this finally going to be over soon... I get to work on my car again!!

I would be more worried about being fined for having an illegal engine in your car...They might check that stuff out while your car is impounded. But yeah, that does suck, dont worry about the 100 mph thing though, if they cant prove that, it doesnt really count?

Hello,

I just wanted to tell you that you should do whatever it takes to fight your ticket.......even if it means paying an equivalent amount in lawyer fees, ect to what the Cali court might make you pay. For me, this kind of thing is a matter of principle.

I don't want to start a rambling diatribe about how cops are nothing more than revenue generators for the state they work for, but more and more that's all I see or hear. Such and such city just hired "x" amount of new cops because that state is having a financial dillema...........whatever. Check out the editorial in the newest edition of Car & Driver about Michigan and the screwing they're giving the citizens.......you and your story would fit right in.

The point I'm *trying* to make is that this guy probably thinks he's a really big man because he busted you for driving and upping your penalty in some way makes up for his short comings. I bet he felt like a real "hero" when he pulled you over and had the helicopter do a fly by and "it was a pretty scary moment" for him while he waited for backup to arraive.........whatever.

Sorry, I didn't mean to ramble on and on. Fight it. Take it to a jury of your peers.....get the cop's record; if he has a habit of "scoring big hits" that could work to your advantage. I know all about this BS from my own experiences with small town, small time cops. Believe me, it will be worth it in the end should you be vindicated.
