Fallout 3 is going to be released on October 28th!!!http://fallout.bethsoft.com/eng/home/home.php

Probably going to preorder this one from amazon. (here http://www.amazon.com/gp/featu...33051) It looks awesome though.

The targeting system, the customization of everything, this looks like a winner. Especially if it has some of the modability of oblivion. THAT would be sick! Wish they had more teasers out though.

:edit release date was kicked back 3 weeks. Current date is correct.

Previous 2 games were turn based rpg's, you might want to read up on the Fallout universe for reference but very few play mechanics from 1/2 are being carried over.

Yeah, the previous Fallout games were all turn-based. Fallout and Fallout II were turn-based RPGs, and Fallout Tactics was a turn-based strategy game.

I loved both the RPGs, but didn't like the turn-based system much. The games were good enough that I dealt with it anyway, but I'm not sorry to see the new one ditch the turn-based system.

As different as the new game is from it's predecessors as far as mechanics, I still have a lot of hope. Bethesda have proven that they KNOW first person RPGs and can do them well. And what made the originals great was not the turn-based isometric configuration, but rather the atmosphere, story, and feel of the games.

That's the important stuff. as far as bethesda doing it, Oblivion anyone?? The atmosphere and feel of that game is great.as far as the death of the turnbased system, the VATS thing in game still allows some amount of turn play, but even that's not like the originals. Either way, as long as it's immersive and fun, it's a winner in my book.

One thing I noticed is that the steal skill was missing from the list, I am hoping that it has been replaced with a skill based minigame because robbing stores then selling them their own wares back was one of my favorite passtimes.

Gameplay vids seem far more oblivionesque with the stealing. It's the whole sneak mode pickpocket/grab stuff off shelves thing.

Here's some awesomeness.53 secs in AMAZING weapon!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AqfYd0RP2O0

This game looks intriguing. I have never played any of the other Fallouts, in truth i never knew what they were. I had no idea they where RPGs or that they were any good. Hmmm. I'll have to get this, it looks good.

But if i come out from under my rock, what other games will i find to spend me hard earned money on?

I've been in total Fallout mode the past few weeks. I'm absolutely psyched up about this game. I enjoyed Oblivion, but the game was too open ended for my tastes. I enjoy having free roam in a sandbox environment, but I need direction to stay on task. I'm hoping Fallout keeps the story moving a little better than Oblivion.

My only other gripe is just a problem Bethesda has always had. Their in game people ALWAYS look way too stiff when they talk.

I can't wait to leave Vault 101 and show the greater DC/Metro area who the baddest bad@ss is.

yeah this is my most anticipated game for me in a few years. i enjoyed the other fallout games immensely, all the dark humor too. I just like the whole post-apocalyptic world they paint. Radscopions, mutants, radiation, and peicing together items and weapons are what makes this game fun. Ive been waiting for them to take the fallout series to the next level on the newer systems, bethesda would be my first choice to do it as well. i want the game NOWW!!

From what i've seen of Fallout 3 so far the animation has been improved but still has the Bethesda like qualities. I'll play it in first person anyways so it isn't a deal breaker.

^ yeah. all reviews say while it is better the NPC's are still weird, especially with the NPC's talking with each other."So the other day i saw a mud crab?"

I almost want to get the preorder for the collector's edition. I could put the vault boy bobblehead on my desk at work.

Yeah, I certainly hope they've improved random NPC interaction over Oblivion. Although I have to say it was always a LOT of fun to interrupt those awkward conversations with a nice quick high-level fireball.

Collector's edition all the way for me. I even considered teh survival edition until I realized that the pip boy 3000 is a desk clock, not a real arm clock.

I always hated being chased by guards in Oblivion. They would chase me clear across the country side given the opportunity.

I'll just be very happy if they leave out the stupid social wheel.

yeah i hated the omnipresence of the guards. Commit a crime anywhere, no matter how far away you are from society, kill all the witness etc and they STILL know about it. In oblivion at least this was addressed with user created mods.

Apparently the social structure is a little different in fallout, because largely each town/village/whatever is considered a different group. So at least you won't be hunted in one place for crimes you committed elsewhere. I really hope they found some way to make an NPC actually have to witness the crime, to have it be reported though.

Same here. I just spent $430 (!) on winter tires for the Q (I wasn't expecting them to be NEARLY that much) so I think I'll be passing on Fallout 3 for a little while. I'll definitely buy it, just probably not on release day. There are only three games I'm definitely buying this fall/winter: Fable II, Animal Crossing (yes, I want Animal Crossing more than Fallout...sorry ), and Chrono Trigger. Everything else is on the "probably, we'll see" list. My decision to buy Fallout will definitely be heavily based on all of your opinions of the game.

Eh, I have it for the PS1 already, but having it for a truly portable system is the real kicker.
