Hi guys. I just got my car running and it won't idle. the car runs up and down. I don't have the correct mafs and was wondering if it could make the car not idle. The one I have on right now is from a ka24de dohc. I ordered the sr20det mafs and it should be in soon. I did the sr20det swap just so you know. Any advise would be apreciated.

You have to use the SR MAFS otherwise the ECU cannot read the proper signal from another MAFS. The car will not run properly with that KA MAFS.

Can I use the sohc mafs from the 89-90 ka24e. I was told that it would run ok with that one.

yes you can use the SOHC MAF but be warned...dont TOUCH the boost...stay at gate pressure...turning it up will max out the SOHC MAF and make engine go boom!

Ok, Thanks for the help. I am getting my parts by this weekend and should have it running. Why would boosting up the engine make it go boom? Is it b/c it will be running to lean. I have a richment gauge installed so I can watch the fuel mixture when it's running.

Ive been running a sohc MAFs for over 2 years and I have autoXed more then once at 12 psi and when I was at the strip last year I had it at 14 psi, and I have never had a problem with it.

id really be curious to see your A/F numbers when you at that high of boost..in my experience, using the SOHC MAFS are for only the last resort and emergency use only like jsut to get it runnign etc. the reason its not recommended to be used when boost pressure has been turned up is due to the fact of the inability for the SOHC MAF to be able to keep up with air flow requirements

its the same mafs but wired different..... Y would HT tell u the 2.4 sohc mafs was a cross reference if it was for emergency use only? My buddy has been running a sohc mafs for years at high boost and made 250rwhp at 15psi.... we could even tune with it....it dont run out at 15psi on a t25

ps...you're injectors will run out before the sohc maf does....if u read of sr's going boom is more than likely the injectors were at 100% duty cycle and it was still running lean....thats more likely than the mafs....

at 14 PSI and WOT on the dyno I was at around 12/1 afr. I have put more than 60,000 miles on this engine alone and it has survived countless autoXs drag runs and 2 years worth of my hamb fisted day to day abuse, if it was an issue Im sure I would know about it.
