Alright, here's the deal. a "person" i know who shall remane nameless for his own protection, has just stated to me that women should not be involved in Auto mechanics, or in the military. This is all based on the fact that he thinks women should have pretty hands and not get injured under the hood or in combat. Feel free to join the discussion (Stickgoat, nancy, Brini, have at him)

Everybody's entitled to their opinion Tino, but for Christ's sake, base it on SOMETHING. Clean, pretty hands?

What is wrong with a girl learning a few things under the hood?? I get that from my friends now they are like why do you want to work on your car??? argh...what if there wasnt a guy around and your broke down somewhere say hardly any cars pass, it would come in handy to know a lil bit about a car if your stuck!

And second of all, I dont worry about breaking nails b/c I have bad habit about chewing my nails (have been since i was baby)....and military....listen hear buster...my great aunt was in a thing called the "waves" as I was told. I have 2 great aunts I think that done that and I'm proud of them for joining something like that. I wouldnt have the guts to. And if I did join anything I like to try to join a Navy thing (but I dont want to)...over half my family has been in some arm forces thing and my dad as well a Vietnam Veteran fought came back and now he has to have electro-shock treatment 3 to 6months and he is damn lucky to be alive.

But on the thing I hear the most about girls cant be mechanics that is a bunch of BS!! I dont care get messy, greesy, dirty, from trying to work on my car and figure out things myself. Getting dirty and all of that to me just shows that your learning and that you did do something. So there!!!

Tino, it's OK if you have pretty hands. Truckers LIKE pretty hands. :D

Remember that girl in the 240 forum that was doing the 350 swap? You gonna tell me that working on a car has made HER any less attractive? I STILL wake up at night thinking about that smile...

see, that's what I love about southern women. I miss TN. Apparently, "Charlie" thinks that women cant carry heavy engine parts and shouldn't be in combat.

any woman who talks about motor's over dinner will cause me to run out halfway through the main course.... and buy a freegin ring to put on her finger (if she's by some crazy chance not already taken).

Women who work on cars are great, women who are into cars and carry are even better.

I have no problem with women under the hood , provided they can deal with getting cut scatched broken nailed or dirty .

I have scars on my right hand from a female in the military who dureing training school on a firetruck transmission rebuild broke a nail and dropped a 25lb gear cluster on my hand , to boot the whore had the audacity to call me a whimp for running around trying to find some ductape and paper towles to fasion up a bandaid to somewhat reduce the ammount of blood i was looseing , if i could use my right hand at the time she woulda been pimp slapped .

Have known a few dues that are as bad as some females that get all panicly around wheel bearing grease

Here is how i look at it , if you roll into my shop to work with painted nails and makeup im gonna watch you and stay away after givin you a broom , same goes for you dudes out there , if you come to me and worry about getting dirty i want you out !!! it already a dangerous job enough , i dont need someone looseing there bearings over getting hurt , unless its severe

call me crude i dont care

EDIT: a lady holding a wrench in a dirty pair of coveralls is very very sexy , and tino you havent seen a fine woman in military camo uniform have you???...ohhhh i get all giddy thinkin about it

I havent had stitches for anything. 1year old- was chased in the house, fell, teeth went thru my tongue. I have a scar and I'm always asked if my tongue is pierced, no i say its a scar. I have a small whitish scar below my lip which you cant see but my friend said i had make up line and i said no its not. she argued with me til I told her.

I had a needle broke off in my foot. Hope this doesnt bother any lol It back tracked in the carpet hit my bone and broke majority of the needle off in my foot. Went in and not a single drop of blood, until the doc decided to try and cut it out. 4hours at a hosptial her mom was freaking out and I called mom up and said dont worry i'm at the hospital, i have a needle broke off in my foot, I'm fine stay at work.

Lost feeling in my toe for a month 1/2 couldnt drive my car for nearly 3 weeks, No stitches at all! I've had lots of accidents so getting hurt doesnt bother me unless its bad. Half the time if I get a cut I wont know til I find blood elsewhere or I'm told I'm bleeding. Oh i've sliced my thumb to where I seen the bone with a knife ;) But even some guys around here dont know about cars, dont know how to work on them and dont know a lot. I dont know much myself but more than they know. Pretty bad when they ask you what this is and that does. Ya know guy usually knows about cars but this generation girl knows either more or as much as a guy.

The point of this thread wasn't to cause controversy. It was to show a friend of mine how ignorant he is. Both of us are in the same engine tech class, and there are four girls in there with us. Three of them are relatively attractive. This @s$monkey had the nerve to tell one of them that he thought she was a "dike" (his words not mine) because she wanted to work on cars. I just wanted him to see that I wasn't the only one out there that wanted to hit him. Moderators, if you feel this thread is "dangerous", I won't get pissy if you lock/delete it. I've shown him what I wanted him to see. thanks everyone.

you don't need to show they are stupid, their statements bear that out in the eyes of any thinking person. Girls and cars, great. I don't see what the big deal is, girls have opposable thumbs and a brain that can learn just like guys pick up a wrench! I had this co-worker say she could'nt drive stick because she was a woman. I asked her if women had extra bones in their left foot that made them unable to step on a clutch pedal.Women in combat I am against, it's my opinion and not one I like but it's the one I have. I would like to say yes but it causes problems that an all male force would not encounter. Not saying girls are weak but interaction between the two sexes causes drama that makes an already dangerous situation even more so.

I felt the need to point out to this idiot that I wasn't the only one that thought he was a moron. What iritates the crap out of me is that Both he and my girl are Vietnamese. I've seen the discrimination and prejudices that my girl deals with, and that we both have to deal with when we're together, and for this idiot to gripe about being stereotyped and then turn around and do it to another group.. :angryfire :bash I'll be honest though, I'm not really in favor of women in the military. Not because I think that women are bad for the mil. I think the military is bad for women.

There was something like this before in highschool about girls. I took a Trades class b/c I didnt want gym, and there were 3 of us with the rest guys. They would talk bad of us say oh here is this too heavy for you and that made me want to slap them. THe same guys that said this got well he didnt get bragged on for doing a good job ;) Same guys couldnt drive a nail in a board less than a minute. But they got what was coming to them though....

I've been told before driving a stick shift isn't "lady like" LOL I wouldnt be able to handle going in military and such. Not that I wouldnt do it but its something I dont want to do. I know a guy (sort of friends with thru other friends) who just got back from Korea and he's moving out to Kansas by some base and such. Bunch of my friends told me about him. He hasnt seen his 2 year old daughter since her 1st bday I think. :)

ROFL...I used to make fun of one of my older friends who took dance when I was a freshman in high school.

He got the last laugh too when he told me to come down and watch class one day. Room full of girls in skin-tight suits and he the only male around.

One of my best mechanics is a 16 yr old hispanic female she'll switch a trans faster than me and pays attention to everything I say and doesn't take any s***.Wish she was about five years older, I'd have to marry her.
