LOL, I just remembered that my biggest fear of the surgery was waking up after the knock out stuff wore off, in the dentists chair, with a gigantic morning wood. Fortunately (to my knowledge) this never happened.

I only have 3 for some reason, and they've gotta come out - I've been putting it off. I'm a real puss when it comes to dental work... :(

i didnt really read any of the above.. but here is my take.. if your doctor says "No joe, you are fine, you have plenty of room." Punch him right in the mouth. He is a liar. a god-amed liar. They will come, they will hurt, you will bleed.

I had all four of mine taken out recently. Since I generally feel all of the pain associated with ANY dental work I went the easy route and was completely knocked out. First they gave me the laughing gas and then gave me an IV of whatever it is they use to knock you out and then I have no idea. I don't remember going out to the car or anything. Apparently I called my friend from the passenger seat of the car and told him we were going out partying that night but I don't remember it. He said that I sounded REALLY drunk. I got them cut out on Friday and I had school on Monday. So throughout the whole weekend I slept in bed, then ate ice cream. Whenever I woke up my mom would come in with some more medicine and I would go to sleep. This continued throughout the weekend. I went to school on Monday and was able to eat at Arby's on that Wednesday. My face didn't swell at all and the Vicadin that I used was AWESOME. They also gave me some horse-sized Penicillin but that was nothing. All in all the event I had been dreading since my thirteenth year was nothing.

I had all four of mine yanked a couple of years ago. Demerol kicks ***! I didn't feel a thing and I fell asleep. Luckily I heal really well, no swelling or bleeding. I was out shopping with my wife later that day.

i get mine out the 11th....it's gonna suck...all the horror stories you guys are telling and here i am reading on, getting a little antsy about the whole deal. But the good thing is that i get an IV so i'll feel no pain for 18 hours....hahahaha. I have to have someone lead me out of the office though because i'd probably faint and collapse if they didn't hold me up. It should be fun...oh yeah, i get all 4 pulled at the same time...it sucks

I was also born w/o wisdom teeth.

I did some reading about it and evidently wisdom teeth are like the appendix, an evolutionary "spare part". All I know is, I'm thankful I don't have to get them yanked. I had 3 of my 1st generation teeth pulled as an adolescent and it was not fun. They used a needle full of Novacaine, injected right into my gums. The Novacaine wore off by the time the dentist got to my canine tooth. *OUCH*

All of this talk about wisdom teeth is making mine hurt a bit. I got one that grew in last summer and I have one coming in on right side now. I dont think I'll ever have the pulled or cut out. A few cousins I know had theirs cut out and they were in pain for many days. My mom has hers still and no problems so I figure once they come in it wont bother me no more. Usually when they hurt I go for some candy or Twizzlers and chew on them.
