wiring! riddle me this

ok so when i turn the ignition on with the engine off the radio works the wipers work and the blower works, now when i start the engine it all doesnt work and i almost died couse of it drivin in the rain at night with no wipers. im stumped on this i thought it was my alternator plug wire couse that came out of the plug. i thought since this isnt connected maybie the computer doesnt know tha voltage comin out the alternator so it may think its about to die so possibly it cut the accesory power. but that was just my thought.

im not quite sure i understand. the ignition has a few different key positions, LOCK, ACC, RUN, START. if you accessories function while the key is in the acc position but not the run position then your problem may be located in the ignition itself. if your accesories function while the key is in the run position with the engine off but not when the engine is running then that makes me believe its relay related.

It sounds to me like your ignition is sticking between run and start. The Ignition itself is wired to disable non essential systems during engine start.

ok that all makes sence couse when i bought the car the old ignition looked like a m80 went off in it so i changed it out with a maxima or somethin like that from the junkyard. but the thing is the radio works on acc and run its just when the engine isnt running is when it all works..

well you guys were right about the ignition it was poped out a little on the back side of it. a little zip ties fixed it just fine (drifters best friend)
