this one is a little small but you get the idea. I am all for power but, i like to hear the turbo spool and not the open down pipe sound.

you can get them at advanced auto parts for less than 10$.

Be very careful with the muffler idea. I would NOT do this. If you want quiet run it into the DP. Any restriction on the flow of the exhaust gasses leaving the wastegate can cause boost creep. If the muffler gets corroded or dirty with fuel and carbon over time it will become more and more restrictive. Till one day you boost 35 psi and pop one or more pistons.

If you do use a muffler, then run a boost cut switch for sure. Better safe then sorry IMO.

yeah i already have the hobbs boost switch setup on my car. I had that for the first setup and even if i was running a complete open dump tube it is still a ebay wastegate so i would defintally have the switch. The muffler is a straight through design like a cherry bomb glass pack. So it if got clogged it should still flow fine. Its still up in the air whether or not i am going to run the muffler, open, or recirculation. If i recirculate it, it will be at the very end of the down pipe, so a couple feet from the turbo. Maybe that wont make as big of a turbulance in the exahust.

Thanks for the input though.

The straight through muffler sounds kinda cool actually. You'll hear the gate open when your at full boost, which I like, yet it won't be ear piercing loud.

You MUST do this now so we can know for sure how good it works/sounds.

Or Ban...

Yes, Nelson you must do this, or I won't help you push honda's off of 31 anymore...

i finished welding the dump tube, down pipe, and the v-band clamp to the turbine housing this weekend. I also got the manifold and turbo installed after final fitting and modifications. Finished the feed line and return line as well. I plan on starting it this up coming weekend. I want to hear what is sounds like compared to my old setup with the t25. This week i need to :

get oil and filterModify the hot pipeFab up a intake pipe with recirculation port for bovDrill holes for o2 sensors in DP

and start it up hopefully

I went to advanced auto parts where i was told you could get the small muffler and they didnt have any so i am going to make a trip to tractor supply...i bet they have some.

She's alive....ha ha ha

I was worried when i first started it up after priming the oil pressure. For the first five minutes or so i had a really bad lifter tick. I took a while to pump up but after a few minutes and racing the engine a few times it went away. However i did run into a problem. I purchased a v-band clamp and flanges from a friend and it turns out that they are no good. Even with the clamp tight there is about a 1/64" gap between the two. It is not warped or anything so i dont know whats up with that. I can hear and feel the leak, because of this i can trust my wideband to read the proper afr. To swap another in would be a pain in the *** so i am going to try to make a gasket for it. I hope he will atleast pay for the gasket material since he sold me a bad part. Other than that it looks good so far. I wont know until i fix that leak and take it for a spin to make me a base map. Here are a couple pics of it finished. I moved the spark plug wires so they are not touching anything.

Had to finish off some tires today. The car hasnt been out in a while and i just finished my q45 brake swap and put the pig nose back on after a quick rattle can job. Last pic was a second gear burn out. I will put the vid up when my buddie gets it to me.

Car is still on 2psi. I am having problems with my civic so i dont want to be in the middle of tuning the 240 for the 460cc injectors and then have the gay honda break down and the 240 is down until i have time to tune it. I plan on having the injectors installed by the end of this month and tuned.

Ewww, bad link at the end of the video!

Looks like it's a project well done. Nice to see that it can get the job done of roasting some tires~!

Bump for update....that was last winter and i'm still changing **** over this winter. By the way how do you go about changing the title of your thread?

I got to use my HF bandsaw i got for christmas and love it...pie cuts FTW ^I'm glad i got the face shield and ear protection for christmas....grinding isn't as painful as it use to be ^Flux core welding = grinding ^Got the bov recirc done and painted^Just finished installing the muffer tonight....should quiet her down a bit vs the straight pipe. Also helps keep me under the radar with a stock-ish looking muffer.

Tomorrow i want to install the intake piping and get the bov recirc done. If i finish that and get the last catch can installed i might take her off the jack stands and start her. I still have to get a new wastegate gasket but, she needs to be started (haven't in at least 3-4 months). Then all thats left is to tune it for the z32 mafs until summer when i make the switch to e85 and the 96lb injectors. I just want to hear what that muffler sounds like

She's back. I got to start her up today and the first thing i noticed was that she didnt like the base tune i put on her for the z32 mafs and the muffler is a little louder than what i wanted but, o'well. With some fine tuning on the safc i had her idling good but, i still want to get the tune to the point were i dont need the safc, even though i will still use it for fine tuning. I see a lot of chip burning in my future since i have no emulator....i fail for not having realtime tuning capabilities ^notice the high performance sock filter.....yeah its a K&N^pulling cold air from the under the stock air box location

Well, its time to say good bye to old ka24e-t. I sold her this past weekend. Time to move on to something new. Been a ka24e-t guy since '06 and its been a good ride. Keeping the shell to throw some sort of v8 into it. Its just time to change it up a little bit. I'll still be surfing the forums from time to time and i'll probably throw a build thread in the car chat section since its not a ka-t any more.

Later,-Nelson

p.s.

I'll have a FS thread up in the next couple weeks to sell off some parts:

it wasn't really about the money as much as just changing it up a bit. I sold my whole swap for 1,000.....motor, transmission, turbo setup. Unless i parted it out, its hard to find local's who want to boost a ka24e. Some kid blew up his stock ka24e that he wanted to boost so some of my friends who knew him threw out the idea and we made a deal. I figure i might have got 600$ or so for the turbo setup so i sold a fresh motor with 700 miles on it for 400$. We loaded up his truck with about 4 extra heads, and extra short block, 1 ka transmission, 1 300zx transmission, and all kinda of other ka stuff i had. He made out like a bandit.

Time to move on.

80$ shipped for the z32 with pig tail20$ shipped for the stock ka24e mafs200$ for the delphi 1000cc injectorsBoth sets of pistons and rods are pending80$ shipped for the rx7 460cc injectors (cleaned with e85 )
