Come on guy. Get some new material. Respect yourself.

3/10

I genuinely laughed out loud on your first Photoshop.

Didderson: I'm not planning anything like that for the car. All I'm focused on now is reliability, and track time. I'll be very pleased if the engine lasts me this year. I'm mentally prepared for the engine blowing on me this year, and I'm willing to do a rebuild.

Odd part is I knew you'd do the spell check silly business, and I went back to change it to "you're" and I still missed it.

Haven't really had much time for the car with the Holidays.

Goal is to upgrade the oil cooler either January or February.

I'm buying a setup off my friend. Lines will be upgraded to -10AN. Location will be moved to the fender, it will have fresh air routed to it. I may even put in a small SPAL fan on the back to over kill the setup.

Oil Cooler I'm buying:

How it's mounted:

I had a friend make this bracket for me to run two 3" pipes to the oil cooler shroud. Should make things nice and clean. He's making one for the left and the right vents.

Intake Design 01:

End product will be black in color.

I'll update when there is more progress.

Looks like it will be an awesome setup, nice man...

Where did you get replacement coolant hoses for under the intake manifold? Just wondering if you ordered anything SR specific or just found hoses that work. I just got the motor pulled and the manifold off last weekend.

Use radiator hoses. I went to advance auto with all the old hoses, and just went in the back where they keep radiator hoses, and kept looking for stuff that would work. Took me about an hour to find hoses that would work. I used new clamps everywhere it was possible.

Good to know, thanks a lot for the info man! Did you stick with the stock rubber lines connected to the fuel rail and whatnot as well, or did you go with something different to replace those?

I replaced the fuel hoses going to the rail and coming from the rail. If you look at the rail you'll notice it attaches near the middle behind the rail, makes a turn down to the rail. You'll by pass that beginning section, and run a new hose straight to the rail. You'll also need to modify your fpr to clear the manifold. nothing hard.

look at my pictures it'll make sense.

send your injectors to deauthwerks or whatever, to have 'em cleaned and flow tested. reaplced all those gaskets and stuff.

also use high temp thread sealant on all the connections on the manifold.

So I got some free time and did some work.

First. Redid the recirculation line to remove the kink. This has spiral wire so it won't kink.

I also replaced the rear upper control arms with newer SPL version. The curve in the arm is different. This one isn't as sharp of a radius.Newer design on top:More comparison pictures:http://www.bumnah.com/temp_stuff/new_ar ... arms04.JPG

I was going to replace my PS pressure line with an AN line, but my line isn't like the ones I've seen. I'm thinking the only way I can change this is to find an AN fitting where the banjo bolt goes. Thoughts?

PS line:

Going for an alignment this week. Upping the caster to 8.0 degrees. I'll have them dial in the caster to be off .5 from left to right. My steering wheel is just the slightest bit off center. I hope it'll fix it. Leaving the camber at -2.5f and -1.5r. Zero toe front and rear. I want to get more of a feel at 0 toe. I may change it in 2011.

Cheers.

The oil cooler is a definite giggity item. A pull fan could help in some situations. Mine does come in handy, no doubt.

I'm back to work on my car. Six hours on Sunday spend detailing the paint (removing rubber from track events), and getting it ready for more bodywork.

So much to do before this season starts.

Did you finally paint those flares white?! God I hope so.

How is the car doing? Get the full Aero and all that jazz?

Iirc your ps line looks fine... just mounted weird? Projectcar mag issue 13 (RB25 tech fall issue) took their lines to a shop, but they didn't get AN lines.. Why so concerned? Nice newer spl arm bumnah.

There is a very very minor leak in the ps steering system. I believe it's at the pump more than the line.

Basic motivation to change the line is to clean it up, and remove a 17 year old line. Maintenance, Maintenance, Maintenance.

PS You love electro? As in electronic music? Aphex twin is super duper.

I only have their song windowlicker lol because it was from grandma's boy movie or something.

Hard to list them all but I'll list some for ya in order of how I came to like electro so much: Daft punk, Cut Copy, Justice, the Presets, Knightlife(A lot of modular records stuff) Chromeo The Avalanches, van she, black kids, Bag raiders, css..m83, MGMT, the faint, Crystal castles, fischerspooner, LCD soundsystem, mylo, mstrkrft, Cassius, deadmau5, Digitalism.

I used to listen to more of a house/techno mix, but that was just because I got free house CD's out of (probably jersey guido) jersey leased auction cars lol.. Hope that's enough for ya LOL... may want to check some of em out. I want to go to coachella...

Haha, you're lucky. I am going to go all-white.

I've held off on buying bodywork until now because I didn't have it all quite figured (or at least decided upon) out, and the car has been low-priority.

New aero will be on the car as soon as the paint restoration is complete. I've been inching my way towards having the car 100% clean. I still need to strip and re-paint the cage, and touch up interior paint. Once that step is done, the roof will have my attention.

After that, new aero, brakes, and wheels/rubber go on the car. Alignment, re-tune the engine, etc.

Hopefully all that before mid-april. With the speed I'll carry onto the Pacific Raceways straight, I won't be surprised if I top out fifth gear at 7500 rpm.

Didderson: I know some of the artists you listed. I went to see Deadmau5 in DC. Terrible. The guy who opened for him was much better. Aphex twin is only one guy. I've become quite the fan over the last few years. Radiohead wanted him to tour with them and he said "No, because I don't like your music." He's a bit out there.

Matt: I like how you list $10k worth of stuff in one sentence. Hopefully I get to drive that thing in April. We'll see.

Bumnah, I'm not trying to be a Debbie downer or anything...

but

It's winter '10 now. Either change the title or sell your car. That's really all you can do at this point.

I like the oil cooler, that's a very neat induction setup. With the cooler's location how are you going to run your intercooler pipe? Does it fit around it or are you re-working your piping?

I thought it was Winter of '09?

Sell the car because I have an outdated thread title? Or was that a sarcastic remark that I'm totally missing?

As for the oil cooler, thanks, my friend Andy set the whole thing up, I'm just buying his setup.

The intercooler piping will hit, we're going to install so everything clears. Looking at the piping, hoses for the oil cooler, and the brackets it's going to be a tight fit. We'll see what happens. He and I are confident we'll get everything to work.

Haha yeah it was sarcasm.

Those pieces look to be quality. I'm sure you'll make it fit perfectly.

I've been on a bit of a car hiatus after getting married last year so I missed your thread early on. Very nice build.

Your track wheels are 16x8 +15 right? Do you have any better pictures of how they fit because the 16x8's only come in a few offsets and I almost have the wife convinced I need a set this year.

Any pictures of the wheels will be here:http://www.bumnah.com/futwerks

Veriest1: I see you have a 96 M3 and a 240sx. I sure hope you're modifying the M3 over the 240. Much MUCH MUCH better chassis.

I'm rebuilding my friends 97 m3 right now. Full suspension rebuild, with 3.64 rear end gears, variable ramp LSD. Poly bushings, and KW suspension.

Thanks for the links. I poked around your site but didn't find either one of those for some reason.

Yes the M is a much better car. It's also more expensive when wrecked so I'm going to get more experience under my belt before tracking it. It's engine is in my sig. I also figure running the 240 will give me some time to turn the M into a dedicated track car. However, I wouldn't be messing with the 240 at all except I had one when I was in high school and when my M went under the knife for its engine rebuild I picked up a coupe to drive. It didn't hurt that laziness had won out and I'd never sold all my spl goodies and coilovers from my 1st 240.

What you're saying makes sense. Depending on how much I enjoy working on this M3. I may make a switch over to a BMW once this S chassis is destroyed or someone gives me a lot of money for it.
