The rear glass is over $700. The PO of Layla had to replace the rear glass from a poorly hit baseball. $750.00 and that was 10 years ago! Not much aftermarket rear glass out there.

My two OEM glass replacements on Q1 (with new OEM gaskets) totaled somewhere around $800 each if I remember correctly. This was with Nissan glass and gaskets installed at two different glass shops.

$250 is absolutely aftermarket glass...

Be happy it wasn't the rear windshield that broke. The guy who owned my car before me put cheap tint on the rear window and it turned purple. Tint can't be pulled off the rear windshield because of the defroster. I replaced the window and after labor it was over $1500!!! The money wasn't even the worst part...the shop had my car for days because it took them so long to track down a piece of glass. I remember talking to the owner numerous times and him telling me he never had so much trouble, and that a regular rear shield has 1 to 3 pins for the defroster and that the Q had like 5 due to the internal antenna and such. Damn extra luxuries.

Q45 glass is indeed expensive. Thanks to the antenna and rain sensing stuff, windshield for my 2005 Q45 is my cost over 950. It also requires TWO trim kits at $130 each plus the glass, and that's at actual net cost. It is a dealer only item, no OEM glass from distributors, and not even aftermarket glass. Backlight is similar in cost. Labor is not included in these figures, since I not only get the glass and trim at cost, I get labor free.

If you don't have glass coverage now, I strongly urge you to get it before a rock breaks yours. Cost for coverage is much less than glass replacement.FWIW, summer is coming, and that's when our business increases dramatically due to the heat, so do it now BEFORE you need it. Some insurers will insist on inspecting the car before issuing gass coverage to make sure people don't break their windshield and then get coverage.

BTW, not sure about F50 or Y33, but G50 glass comes in either blue or bronze tint, depending on paint and exterior color. If you need windshield replacement, be sure to insist on the original color.

Infinitis aren't cheap.

The previous owner of my Q had the tint removed from the rear windshield and it was fine, defroster still works?

George, I'll be hitting you up to get new glass in my G35 Coupe (full glass).

I'll also be bugging you for a quote on my 240sx (out-of-pocket ).

This is gonna make a great article. I'm gonna work on it this afternoon.

By the way, these three qoutes were from different shops, not three different window options from the same place. The one I got turned out nice, glass looks good, not blury even from an angle.

Yep, I dread the next Q45 glass replacement, since I've always gotten OEM Nissan glass through the dealer... Since then, I've dropped full coverage.

The G35 gets OEM glass as well - it's still got its "virgin" windshield, but has a few chips and some "sandblasting" pits.

Yes, the debris on our roads here can indeed pock-mark our windshields enough to make them hard to see through when driving into the sun. Even without serious damage, that alone is good reason to replace the glass when it gets too bad to put up with.

I strongly urge you to reconsider the glass coverage. I removed it from my policy to save money. Then I learned what it would cost ME at employee cost to replace it, and promptly, actually on the spot as a matter of fact, added it back to my coverage. The cost is very small considering the expense to replace a windshield that can be broken at any minute on our streets and roads here in the Phoenix area.

Give me a call when you want your windshields replaced.

I was kind of hoping the spammers would go away when the new NICO came out, no such luck I see.

One spammer even had the audacity to post in my topic. :tisk:
