Nope. IIRC, the bose front speakers are ~4.75~4.85in. It is an odd size and no aftermarket speakers are going to be a direct fit.

I suddest that you get atleast a 5in or 5.5in speaker set for the front. You can modify the Bose pod opening to accomadate the larger driver very easily.

Well if you want to take the easiest route, I would suggest just enlarging the opening in the Bose pod. You can do this by tracing a circle the diameter of the new speaker onto the pod. Then take a rotary tool, a razor knife will work too but takes a lot longer, and cut around the circle.

Now if you want to make a completely new pod/enclosure/mount for the speakers. YOu will need to trace the front of the bose pod, where it actually mounts to the door, onto cardboard. This will give you a basic "mold" which you can transfer on to MDF and cut to fit where the Bose Pod was. Once you have it cut to size you should trace a circle ~the diameter of the speaker you are going to be using onto the near center of the MDF. Then cut out the circle. To do this I suggest first using a drill to punch a whole big enough to fit a jigsaw blade into. Then use the jigsaw to cut out the remainder of the pattern. Clean off any saw dust/debris and test fit the speaker into the nearly made hole. Make any neccessary adjustments/cuts to make it fit well.

Then test fit/align the nearly made MDF piece onto the door where it will be mounted. Mark where the screw holes will be located. Then use a drill bit, slightly smaller then the screws you will be using, to drill the holes.

Oops, forgot a step. 1/2in or 3/4in MDF may not fit well behind the door panel. You might need to retrace the door panel opening, In the metal part of the door, onto the back of the MDF. Then you might need to remove some of the MDF with a Wood Chisel or other tool of your choice. Now when I say remove, I don't mean cut off, I mean make thinner. Then test fit it again. Mount it with the screws/bolts.

Then test fit the door panel. MAke sure that it fits/aligns properly all the way around. Make sure that there are no bulges near where your MDF mount is located. If there arn't, then you're ok for now. If there is a bulge or it doesn't mount properly, then you need to remove a little more material from the back of the MDF. Repeat this over and over until it fits properly.

Now, With this step I am going to assume that you know how to, or have already run the speaker wire into the door.

Now that the MDF is mounted, connect the speaker wire to the respective, same polarity (+/-), terminal.

Once you've done this for both sides, turn the HU on to make sure that they play properly. If they do, then you can put the door panel back on. If they don't then you need to go back and check your wiring.

I didn't catch this, Are you going to be using seperate tweeters or are you going to get basic coaxials with the tweeter mounted directly infront of the main driver? If you would like to use a seperate tweeter let me know where you would like to mount it and I'll help you out

Hmm.. I havn't opened up the door panel in awhile.. Can you check how far the front window rolls down? Does it come down to behind where the Bose pod would be?

A 5.5in or 6.5in speaker would be the best choice.

Well the point I was getting at about the "foam hats" that Rex suggested is that if it's possible, it would be best, in terms of SQ, to build an enclosure for the speakers

Yep, that's the way to go.

A 4in driver is just to small to do anything even in the mid-bass range. I definitely would recomend either a 5.5in coaxial or 6.5in coaxial. These will give you a full range front sound stage

Do you mean satellite as in satellite Radio or TV. Seems like a dumb question, but you can get satellite TV in cars now

Give me a few minutes.. I'll check around and see what I can find, but first a question or two:

1: How much bling is too much? DO you want it to be "mellow" with as few flashing lights as possible?

2: Are you planning on updating this system later and keeping the same HU?

3: Will you be powering the speakers with the HU and not a seperate amp?

4: What price range would you like to stay under?

5: Single or Double DIN?

6: Do I get a commision for doing this?

Also, would you mind if the HU didn't have Front RCA inputs? You can get an adapter/extender that brings the connections from the back to the front for easier access. The reason I say/suggest this is becuse it will cost quite a bit more to get an HU with Front RCA inputs

Do you want a CD and/or cassette player? If you want a CD player, is it important that it has MP3 capability?

What is your price range?

What are 2 bills? As in 2 Bens = $200? Ok, I can work with that. Take a look at these, give me your opinion based on the looks, I'll number them to make it easier:

HU #1

HU #2

HU #3

HU #4 Note that this one does not have built in RCA inputs for you to hook up your satellite radio to. I am showing it to you because it has really high quality RCA outputs. WHich means that it would be a good expansion HU

These are just the first round.. I'll keep looking. I'll check out ebay also

Which HU are you going to get?

I highly recommend that you bid on that Nakamichi CD-400 on Ebay that I linked to. Note that it is worth ~$500.

If you don't want to use the "rubber/foam" "hat" for the speakers, you can moke some fiberglass enclosures relatively easy...

Can I ask why you want a single DIN over a double DIN?

And I'd recommend a Pioneer over most everything PMQ suggestions, except the Nak. Awia quality has slid since the 80's .

Yeah, but I've had a hard time finding any Pioneer HUs with aux inputs for under $150

Please, Please, please get that Nakamichi HU. Even if you won't use it. I'll buy it from you in a month or two

Here's another good Nak, but I'd just spend some time and place some smart bids. I got my Kenwood In Dash MD changer for ~$55 .

And to me, this one is worth the risk, if you know anyone that can do repairs .

Here's another SMOKING Deal, but it needs repairs.
