weird, your 1/4mi and trap is slower than when you went with the dr's, even with a 60' time better by .4 sec.

Exactly, good observation. When I cut the 1.4 60 ft time, I had 22" slicks on the car. This is a 2" difference in tire height thus lowering my gear ratio. My car was bouncing of the top speed limiter about 100ft before I got to the end of the 1/4 mile. The effective gear ratio change was causing my ECU to think it was going faster than it actually was, thus cutting my speed. In the video i have of this run, you can see three distinct puffs of smoke where the top speed limiter was keeping me from going any faster. The night i ran with slicks I had 6 runs of 13.0, which would've all been 12 second passes if I would unplugged the VSS.

Live and learn though.

Here is the video where you can see the speed limiter kicking in (PLEASE RIGHT CLICK AND SAVE AS)

just a simple question(nice vid by the way). why is it important to save as instead of just watching from where it is? i did right click though.

because i'm running that web server from a broadband connection and really don't have the bandwidth to stream media. I've only got a 256kb upload and the video is like 768kb stream.

hey is the "bluebomber" automatic? sounded like it...that would also explain the 1.4 60 foots......if not.....smooth shifting bro....heh

yeah, hes good. not too many indy rears doing good 60's like that. thats "crustang on slicks" territory.

it is a manual transmission. I employ the "Powershifting" technique when drag racing. My right foot never comes off the floor between shifts. I've netted 1-2 mph on my trap speeds by powershifting. Is it good for my transmission? Probably not but I don't really care. These trannies are a dime a dozen.

Anybody can learn to drive like that. you just have to practice a lot. I've got over 40 passes on the car. My very first run ever on the car was a 14.29. Nothing changed on the car between that and my 13.01 run. NOTHING.

i like the flame you shot out at the end! yaa...

i see the slicks did a lot for you. here's me running a 13.9, screeching tires all through 1st and 2nd and chirping them in 3rd and 4th.. http://www.northeastnissans.co...n.wmv

word..

Here is me spinning 1st 2nd and 3rd only to run a 14.4@97mph. That was with Kumo 712s, now I've got Nitto Drag Radials. It hooks pretty well now. But at only 4.5psi on this turbo I hardly have enough power to spin them good off the line. But at 4.5psi I ran a 14.7@93 :) traction owns..

at least you had kumho 712s, i was running on all season 195/60/15 firestone firehawks m+s :)

you're right traction owns. that's why i decided to build up my suspension instead of getting a turbo kit. well worth it.

heh, 205/55r15 goodyear eagle rs something or anothers. they are hard as a rock, dry rotted, and tractionless. i burn them solid through 3rd when i am driving hard. funny thing is they wont smoke that much. i can spin em to the point where the car just wont stay still at all with minimal smoke. if you check my pics on cardomain you will see the burnout pic. that was after a burnout so long that i was starting to overheat.

oops, off topic. no traction, sucks, es100's coming soon.

define "Build up my suspension" for drag racing you can not beat the factory suspension.

I recently got stuck with some ES-100's (see my post Parts that Suck in 240 General). The ES-100 isn't a very good tire. The ones that I got are V rated and don't grip worth a damn. They might be better than what you are currently running, but they are far from a grippy tire. I wish that I had spent the extra $10 per tire and gotten the Dunlop SP8000s, or maybe some Yokohama AVS Intermediates.

**** I have brand new ES100s on my car and haven't gone to the track yet. I will be putting down around 320rwhp... am I not gonna be able to get traction at all Phax?

All sources point to no...now go cry like a little girl ;)

If you're that worried (or want a good time) get some cheap-o wheels and drag radials. I'm probably going to borrow a set of wheels and E/T streets for my drag strip trips :)

320 hp?! Man, you're going to spin those things all day long. I can get them spinning at 8psi (~180hp?).

I was thinking about getting some KYBs shocks in the rear? Will my stocks be better? they've got 150k on them. My rear squats hard when I launch. they're blown. I don't want a height adjustment so I wanted to stay with the stock springs, but I didnt think stock shocks would make it any worse.

ES100s are about the same as Kumo 712s. Have fun spinning 1st, 2nd and 3rd :) :ylsuper

for drag racing you want a stiff front and loose rear suspension setup. ideally, the car will squat back and stay that way.

I have azenis sports. I know not the best for drag, but do you think they will work okay?

They're grippy, but they're a VERY stiff sidewall (that's what I run too) which is less than ideal for drag racing.

I'd drop the pressure in them low to help the sidewalls flex a bit, but unfortunately (for drag racing at least) the sidewalls on the azenis sports stay pretty much upright until <10psi or so in the tires. Try out about 24psi, maybe a bit lower (20?), but really, they're the wrong tire.

For the road course though, I LOVE them :)

Thanks for the info. My spring rates are less then ideal for drag as well, but I don't go to the strip that much.

I would get some 15's with et streets/dr's, but I have the rear 300zx brakes and I don't think they will clear.

Same here...i'm running 9/7 front/rear springs :-x

For my few drag strip trips I'm probably just going to borrow some wheels & slicks. I may pick up a set of these (http://www.diamondracingwheels...s.htm) in 15x8 or maybe superwide low-offset 16x10 to throw a set of E/T streets on. I'd also run them when I feel like driving around town and terrorizing the other cars :)

I desperately want to see an 11 second time slip (11.99 is OK :)) out of the GT25, and on slicks I think the only impediment is my spring rates.

Nice link. I am still contemplating my long time planned setup of the GT25R with 740cc/z32/powerFC with stage 2 264 cams, etc. Just can't decide if I want to spend the money. I am thinking about going with the GT2871R and 550cc and SAFC2 so save cost. Still should make 300-350whp.
