My car will be active if it kills me.

I bought my 94' Q45a (100k miles) for $2500 last summer while I was in Vegas. The guy I bought it off of said it needed to have it's shocks replaced and didn't really say much else. Anyhow, there were lots of problems with the car when I bought it. It had about a $10k dealer list of repairs. That's when I started reading up on active suspension, figuring out what exactly it is and how it works. To make a long story short, I've now replaced everything on the repair list besides the active suspension. I bought the accumulators from texasoil last fall and had them replaced a few months ago. Unfortunately my backyard mechanic whom had done so well with the other repairs didn't know the active system. I'm now having the car taken to an Infiniti dealership in Vegas and having them re-fill and bleed the active suspension. Then it's time to see if there's still a leak somewhere... then get that repaired. I'm picking the car up mid July and importing into Canada this summer. After that come the mods :ylsuper .

If only my Q was worth as much as I've stuck into it :rolleyes . There's a price you pay to keep an active Q on the road!

I'm back! Sorry, I have been busy. Green, I will be getting the active CPU. Whatever I don't need to restore my active suspension to "heavenly ride" status you are first in line for. I'm getting closer to that date.

It was only after the suspension oil purge and refill that the active suspension started working again and that was right before I bought it(I still considered it mine), so by the time it was actually mine it did work. My friend did the work and did not think it was hard to do.

As far as the far east net surfing goes, we should actually start today! I will see just how good he can read Japanese. I will share any interesting things I find.

I believe most of my active stuff is in good shape except for the gas filled parts, so it shouldn't take so long to get it straight. I am paying close attention to the mounts and bushings as they are all original and will have to be changed out. Fun, Fun.

Knowing that the Active Q is one of the most complex cars ever built, I expect nothing will be easy and any money I put in to it will only be restore it to it's original functions. It's worth will be assessed by myself alone and not by some book telling me how much it's worth! All things considered, that book is a guideline to a purchase price. A place to start negotiation. The value of the car is what the owner puts on it. I'll create my own value for the car.

Well said Red. I agree with you 100%.

My Q isn't something I plan on selling anytime soon. I didn't buy it because I could see myself cruising around in it for a few months. I bought it as a long term car. I'm the only person who'll be slapping a price tag onto it.

Red, Did your friend just bleed the system?accoreding to the FSM you need a consult to oil purge and refill the system. I have several quarts of active fluid I would like to oil purge and refill \ flush the system myself tomorrow if you don't need a consult.

Green,I didn't see any burn marks on the modulator unit when I checked it but I still want yours. I'll get back to you Tues or Weds this week on a price. I'm getting an airfilter box from Rob, and my active components from Dr, FrankenQ, Tires for a friend, maybe a fuel pump and well.. you get the picture.

No consult was used when the system was refilled and no problems came of it. Works fine now and no warning lights. My friend who did it is a very good mechanic and has been working on cars for 20 years and he still mentioned how "different" my suspension was and how much more complicated it was. Once he figured it out it was not a problem though.
