Of course, this is my fault somehow, and I do not make it any better by asking the obvious "Honey, did you turn up the volume?" ... she hit the roof.

...any ideas on how to replenish the relationship by fixing this 'no sound' from the NAV/Stereo/Phone? I've gone through the manual, no dice, so, it really must be my fault since I obviously musta ... umm ... I don't even drive it...?

Just remind her that you didn't build the thing, and its new, so its under warranty. Have HER take it to the dealer, that way if she did something stupid (setting, volume), she'll be less likely to go off on you again.

I did suggest taking it to the dealer and get it fixed. She said that was my job and too far. I think she's having a tough day, which will necessitate me sleeping in the shed with my stack of Penthouse for at least a week.

Wives should not be using our beloved G's. Years ago I got one of those panic phone calls when the clutch cable broke on our 1980 Diesel Rabbit. She didn't know what to do so I had to spend two hours to get to her and drive it 30 miles with no clutch disengagement.Wives just don't appreciate what we do for them

OK Mr. ImpliedConsent, here's the issue, sweep aside all the joking and slap happy anti-female talk here (yep, I know it's all in good fun) and let's really deal with this.

Problems are rarely one-sided, they go in circles and travel in pairs when you're married. What I mean is that while your wife may have spoken to you this way (unfortunately), the realities are that BOTH OF YOU CREATED A RELATIONSHIP IN WHICH THIS TYPE OF BEHAVIOR IS ACCEPTABLE. In other words, spouses don't typically behave this way towards each other unless this has been embedded into the relationship. It was embedded early on and now "poisons" the relationship: today was her day to be this way and I'm almost 100% sure that there are days in which you behave in ways that poison the day so that she feels like the one being punished.

Bottom line, you've treated her in ways that allow this type of behavior and she's treated you in ways that allow you to behave in a toxic manner: wanna change the outcome or the way she talks to you, change your behavior first and she will soon follow. All joking aside, we all create our relationships and if we keep getting into toxic ones or keep having toxic communications, then we're 100% responsible for the way in which the relationship has emerged. If there's a pattern of toxic talk or toxic bf/gf relationships, it's time to look within ourselves.
