Mazda and the Rotary to me are like that one guy who'd be the perfect friend if he didn't wear Hawaiian shirts and sandals everywhere.

More like straight 8 swaps.

Can you imagine the weight distribution if the engine is low and nestled against the firewall? May as well be mid-engined.

I'm optimistic - it's gorgeous, clean, purposeful, likely lightweight, and devoid of gimmickry.

Hear that, [insert bloated-a** retro-kitschy wannabe sport car manufacturers]? You and your 2-ton dinosaurs can suck it.

Build this and I will work double shifts, nights, and weekends to pay for it. I deserve something badass for all my hard work the past two years. Can't wait to find out more. :yesnod

The general shape is sexy, but to me, it appears to borrow several styling cues from the Jeeaaaaag F type, especially the rear. That's not a bad thing, but not overly ground-breaking either. I also think the hood seems a tad too long. Hopefully Mazda won't make the same error as Jag by omitting the man-pedal. I'm looking forward to trying one.

The F type V8 is also AWD only, a moronic mistake I don't expect Mazda to make.

Halo cars are pointless for consumers unless the design and engineering trickle down to the rest of the product portfolio. We drive regular cars every regular day of the week. There ought to be a dash of pepper in each commute.

Mazda is doing it right, injecting its DNA into everything from their mini-minivan to their family sedans, sprinkling the feel of the Miata into everything they build.

Nissan, meanwhile, builds the GTR but farts out lifeless turds like the Sentra, Rogue, Versa, and Altima. Juke is the odd exception. Z is getting stale.

Life's too short to own a god damned Nissan.
