why is every exhaust for the 240 a fart can?

I don't mind 115mm or 125mm exhausts on cars that need it.... but how many 240's really need to move that kind of air?

I've been shopping for a clean dual tip exhaust without luck. Something that looks stock but flows a touch better.

Image is something like this too much to ask?

no..... There are many options. Contact Greg about his BRM exhausts. Here's a thread:

new-exhaust-for-the-s13-s14-240sx-t48608.html

Its stickied right at the top man.....

Some canister exhausts don't sound too bad on KAs anyway. My friend has an apexi dual N1 on his car and it sounds like a wrx.

It's not so much about the sound.... it's really not needed.... his exhausts look pretty nice, but still have a aftermarket look to them.

I love it when new guys post retarded questions with such conviction...

BRM is good. I have Circuit Sports (which is probably EXACTLY what you're looking for). You can try this Megan, too:

or this one

I'm sure there are lots more too. Try not to ask questions in such an inflammatory tone in the future.

wait so..... you want an aftermarket exhaust....thats not aftermarket? I don't understand. Catback systems on N/A 240s are mostly for sound imo. You're not getting any crazy gains. Seems like you need an OEM one. I still don't get why you're looking for an aftermarket exhaust if you don't think you need one... :gotme

thanx, i've seen both of those...... neither of them look stock..... i've spent about 4-5 hours searching and it's going to come down to building my own.

the stock one has a nice coat of surface rust, the tips aren't clean and while i'm cleaning things up I might aswell clean them up.

just looking to make the exhaust a bit more free flowing,. also looking to add a slightly better tone, and in the event it's not enough power for her something that will work with some sort of forced induction.

wouldn't mind having it carb cert. too since cops tend to write tickets for all the other people with poor exhausts in the area.

mine's not. I despise huge mufflers like that. I've got 3 inch turbo back to a cherry bomb muffler from autozone. Looks stock, but sounds nice unlike most cans.

Both. Those two things just give hint that you may not be very familiar with aftermarket offering for the S-chassis. You asked why every 20 exhaust is a fart can. They are not all fart cans. There are many different styles available. Hopefully you can see how many 240 owners might find that question insulting and/or condescending, especially coming from a guy who seems to prefer Supras.

If you want a stock looking exhaust, go buy a stock ehaust. Want it to flow a little better? Get a high flow cat and delete your resonators. Want a shiny new muffler? They're all over ebay. Just go get it welded on.

But here's the one I have:
http://www.andysautosport.com/nissan/19 ... 85062.html

Not a fart can at all.

I was gonna say, Greg's dual tip is just spectacular. It sounds good too.

OP if THIS isn't too much for you I suggest you seriously contact Greg for one, it sounds nice and like I said looks awesome. Very OEM-like.

Low post count is due to searching before I post.

I want a better flowing stock looking exhaust.... last time I checked the stock exhaust has screw on tips.

This is from you in another post. jeezz you seem to generalize alot my man.
"It would cost more than 3 grand to do it right, which is to do it not the cheap a** 240sx owner way."

I like any car that is cleanly done. I have respect for the people on here that don't cut corners.

Thanx muchly for the input. it looks like a quality exhaust. I'm going to see if they will send me the pipe without the muffler.

And that's not a generalization at all there...

That 3grand I referenced was about properly repairing quarter panel damage. No relevance here, dude. If you search as much as you say, then you'll know that most 240 owner's answer to that kind of damage would 'rock it as a battlescar!' or 'just slap on overfenders!'

Sometime you have to generalize to help ppl grasp & narrow down their options. You like ppl that don't cut corners? Good. Build your own exhaust then. Thats the best way to get precisely what you want. If you wanna just buy something off the shelf, go with one of our recommendations. But then again, wouldn't that be cutting corners?

Sometime you have to generalize to help ppl grasp & narrow down their options....... isn't that what I did when I started this topic? oh snap. Well car should be drifting this week... it's in primer. Driver seat has a tear. Has 4 mis-matched tires.

Only problem with your generalization is that it was totally wrong. :inoutgay:

No, you guys are in the minority. I didn't claim that EVERY 240 owner was a cheapass. Certainly there are some really well done projects around. But you claimed that EVERY 240 exhaust was a fart can.
Anyways, question was answered and this is lame. I'm out of here. :wavey:

this thread = fail... :argue: .... if you looked for 4 hours and cant find a muffler you like... then just quit. and if you are doing your 240's "right"... i would enjoy some pics of this "perfection"

they're not called "fartcans". They're called N1 style. I'm sorry to say but that statement is quite offensive to people who prefers them. OP, why are you asking for an aftermarket exhaust while you can get an OEM which probably cost around 600-800 bucks brand new. check courtesyparts.com they might still be carrying them.
