This guy was saying before he bought it he looked at Maxima's but decided not to get the 03 SE with 6 speed manual because it was to slow! I told him he was wrong and to either shut up or race me. He accepted by laughing at me and saying good luck keeping up! to make a long story short I won and he doesnt talk smack anymore...
lol i had a guy with a 2006 gti say some crap like that. but when it came time to go to the track he backed down so we didnt even go.

Funny I pulled up next to a Mercedes S600 today real sick ride so I reved the engine a little to get his attention he returned the favor so the lite turned green and we both floored it he obviously smoked me but not by very much the road turned into 1 lane about 100 yards and at the end he was only 3\4 a car legnth ahead and I almost cliped the rear quarter pannel but was deffinatly impressed the the max kept up that well against a car with that kind of power I mean its a little different than a honda but the max is deffinatly a real fast car. NISSAN FTW!!!!!!!!!!

ok...i had right before that max 2000 stick an acura rl (98)...the car was "fine" (as fine it can be).BUT:mpg was 14 (combined)acc 0-60 takes 8. (3.5 auto)and if for a sec you think it can handle the road... you are WRONG.it was drifting like a M@#$R F@#$R.so you say at least it has luxury... you wanna know the main reasoni sold it for 2g's? cause i'm tired driving with all my stuff in my pockets.there is no room even for my small A$S phone!!!so you get a lot of leather and bose system. thats it!!!you wanna compare with the nissan?!?!?! or i35 which stands in the same rank?!?!?!hell no!

sorry for all that... i was really hurt by that car...no one wanted to buy the damn thing.

Yeah a lot of Honda guys think they are fast, but I have nothing against the cars themselves. One dude with an EF/B18A1 w.a blown headgasket thought my car ('01 Max/5spd/20AE) was too slow for him and told me to "race his buddy". Another kid with a beat Integra GS said he'd "blow me outta the water" when the only mods that were done to that car were rims and a fart pipe.

Swapped Hondas kick ***, the K20/EG below blew away a Camaro SS, and I'm fine with revving an engine to the sky. I prefer having a screaming, wailing top end anyways.

And what about the older Legends or 3.2TLs, they have relatively big motors and I would assume they are torquey as well.

I love the 4th gen (90-93) Accords as well as the later 5th gen models. As with a lot of new cars, the Accords are getting bigger and uglier as well.

But honestly for the kind of performance vs luxury vs value you get from a Maxima, nothing really competes with that.

I'll still build a Honda someday though.

my beef with hondas is most of them are just RICERS! Some peopel actually know how to mod a car but most of them are all for show with "fart pipes" lol. So i guess its really the owners who the beef is with

in Response to Presscott, my 99' I30t will pull from a 06 GTi. I had about 400 pounds of tools in my car at the time of my race as well (I Don't have a trailer so when I track it everything stays). We raced pretty even with him at my rear door upto about 80 mph, where I let off. I would assume a ligher car would have no issues with a GTi.

You need to be careful with who you're talking to when dealing with Hondas. Most (99%) have serious torque issues, however as soon as they get into the higher revs those engines seem to just scream. I've seen an old crapbox SOHC civic put down 600 (Single turbo'd) rear wheel horsepower. The only downside is his powerband was about 3000rpm, starting at 5,600 to about 8,600 rpm (August Edition of Turbo Magazine I believe, a crappy Civic DX, reminded me of the Turbo'd 3rd gen Max from hell)

Although its safe most of the time, never judge a book by its cover. Always look under the hood before agreeing to any kind of race, check for nitrous as well. Most importantly watch out for the ones who dont brag, those are the types you need to lookout for on the track.

Eh...the 3.2 was torquey by Honda standards, but not by real world standards. And the 3.2 is indeed big relative to other Honda offerings...but outside Hondaland it's pretty small.

The Honda 3.2 matched the VG30DE for peak torque numbers, but definitely didn't match the VG for torque curve. The 3.2 is peaky, like all Honda motors. By the time the 3.2 surpassed the VG's peak torque, the VG was dead and the VQ was making the 3.2 look pretty sad. The 3.2 was making 230ft lb at 5000 rpm while the VQ30 was making 220-230 pretty much across the board. Then of course, the VQ35 came about and blew the Honda's pathetic peaky 230ft-lb out the window with 250+ft lb on a paper-flat curve.

Still, I've always found the early TL (Vigor) 2.5 liter 5 cylinder interesting. It's certainly still fairly peaky, but 180ft-lb isn't bad for a 2.5 liter. Plus, the Vigor is the best looking Honda ever made.
