Then pick "further your education" or "money" whatever is more important to you. The answer "that's just what you do" imply's no direction, motive, or even a question of why. It's just accepted like an arranged marrage.yelnatsch517 wrote:On the contrary, some people, like me, vote "it's just what you do" because it involves everything else; as in, that's just what you are supposed to do to further your education, increase potential income, etc.
I think besides the free beer, and free football game tickets, a college degree gives you more choices, and therefore more opportunity to make bigger dollars. That's not to say you can't do extremely well without a degree. But on the average those with degrees make more than those without.Looneybomber wrote:Then pick "further your education" or "money" whatever is more important to you. sry to burst ur bubble but someone will always be better then u tht is just how life is99QX4 wrote:Well i don't think i had a choice in the matter...i kind of "knew i was going" to college after hs. But now as I'm going for my masters, suddenly that's not good enough for me. It's quite common (especially for teachers) to have/get a masters degree. Eventhough i'm the first one in my family to get a masters degree it's still not enough, and the fact that my cousin will be getting her masters...nah gotta keep going. So what is the next step for me you ask?! PhD baby! I know i'm probably insane but i have to be the best at what i do...and that means i keep going forward to get the best degree I can get, especially if i want to become a college professor one day!

whether i take them to school in a busted-*** 89 cressida or a benz s-class, i dont think it matters in the grand scheme as long as they get there.
I didn't say i was trying to out-do everybody in the world...but i want do to the best that my abilities will allow, there's nothing wrong in that.brizanden wrote:sry to burst ur bubble but someone will always be better then u tht is just how life is
yeah i agree with max get a girl friend ftw. and a good one not just the hottest girl u can find lol. having someone to talk to and be there for u always is epic (as gay as it sounds). also im in the same boat as u but i know for a fact that the classes that actually involve my major i do better and pay more attention in. get past the basic stuff and u'll like ur major classes and find it easier to pay attention.xckid wrote:damn man i read all this, im going to school right now just about to be done with my first year of college. I dont know what to do, i want to keeping going cuz i want a degree in what im not even sure of anymore. I realized this when i found my self not able to concentrate. In class i cannot concentrate im always thinking about other things, The only times i can really focus on what im doing is when its something physical that involves my hands alot. Im taking my basics and i just cant seem to focus in class and i dont know what i want my major as of now is mech. engineering but i dont know anymore. I cant sleep cuz of how bad me not concentrating is. I go to class fully syked to learn and do the right things...but i cant. This hole college thing is tolling on me. Only thing ive seen positive from it..is ive been writing alot.
Lol, welcome to the world of closed minded retard, the stupider they are the farther they go.sanioll wrote:More options of employment opportunities, it opens a door for you.
Side effects of higher education, especially specialization (Math for me), is people think you are weird, because you look at the world differently. When you operate at multi-level mindset with fully open mind, it freaks your coworkers out. go figure.
Hell no there isn't.99QX4 wrote:

I'm going to mix it up a little bit since everybody here has given their reasons they went to college. I'm going to give my reason for going, but not continuing to go.
I'm the kind of person that never does anything just for the hell of it. I never do anything just because it's what people do. I wasn't a great High School student as far as grades are concerned. It wasn't because I didn't know how to do the work there, it was just that I was learning just fine and I hated to be tested to make sure I understood what the hell my teachers said. I don't test well anyway.
I did spend some time in college on and off (not directly out of High School either). But it took me forever to figure out what I wanted to do. I got tired of just going to school just to go and not having a goal in mind outside of it.
I finally fell into photography in the last 2 years. The career fits all of my needs. I have a passion for it, I can work for myself [which is a must], I can travel, I can work when I want and how I want to, I make my own policies, I don't have to call in sick to get a day off, I don't have to earn vacation days, and I don't have to deal with lazy bosses and co-workers. Now that I have decided [and started] my career, I will get into school to better myself in my field to separate myself from the competition and increase my presence and profits int he long run.
I did it backwards. I went and got work experience first. I've been a manager or supervisor in some capacity at literally every job I've worked. I went and worked in a few different industries to see what kind of jobs (that are higher up in those companies and industries) I'd like to do in the future. I took all of the skills I gained from one job to the next. I learned how to make customers happy, I learned how to gain repeat business, and I learned how to remain profitable. I guess you can say I took my own real time business classes over the years.
I never worried about going to college to make more money because I always believed that no matter what anybody says, it's me that will determine how much money I make in my lifetime. Do I have a better chance at making more by going to college? Yes. But it would be inaccurate to say it's the only way.
Ya, except when your GF tosses you and your 364 day relation ship away like it was nothing.brizanden wrote:yeah i agree with max get a girl friend ftw. and a good one not just the hottest girl u can find lol. having someone to talk to and be there for u always is epic (as gay as it sounds). also im in the same boat as u but i know for a fact that the classes that actually involve my major i do better and pay more attention in. get past the basic stuff and u'll like ur major classes and find it easier to pay attention.
Well its like this, in MMA or boxing you don't punch for the head, you punch for the space behind the head(no, not the back of the head). That way you don't just reach your original goal you make damn sure you let that goal know you mean business.brizanden wrote:^ well thats what makes u so..... whats the word ohhhh yeah h0m0 lol.
