Ok... stock 89 Nissan 240sx vs. 94 Honda Prelude Si Vtech. One has 140hp and 153lbs ft (not exact, it's Edmunds) and the Si has 190hp and 158lbs ft. Now, who do you guys think would win? The Si is my bro's and the 240 owner thinks he could take him in the 1/4 no contest. What's your opinion? I of course like 240's better than Hondas but the guy who owns the 240 doesn't deserve it and beats it to hell... plus he's an a**.

Why do people continually ask these questions? Just race and find out...on the track of course...

Xcrun - the only reason I asked this was cause my bro wanted to see what the pro's thought. So I posted on Nico. But, yeah. I think the prelude will win...

Not even a 91 240 will hold up to a Si, considering it's got about 35 more horsepower, relatively the same torque, and weighs quite a bit lighter, IIRC.

Install a turbo on the 240 and then you got yourself a race. :)

the 94 prelude weighs around 2800lbs. stock for stock, the prelude will beat the 240 (KA24DE included).

Just race and get it over with. Besides, its the 70% driver 30% car. Anyone can own a fast car, but can you race it?

It also doesn't help that the 240 owner can't shift... So no question my bro would win. Hopefully he realizes this after I show him this thread...

dude, i never heard of a 94 prelude si vtec before. the si has only 160HP, there is another prelude of the same model that came with vtec, but i'm sure it's not the si. it produce 190 HP with 2 more lbs of torque more than the si model. The si model is powered by a H23 which is not vtec.

So if your brother does have the si model, the dude with the 240sx has a chance because of the RWD drive setup, but because of his ****yness, he might lose for being over confident with a stock SOHC.

Not really. A 89' 240sx with a T3 turbo is instantly pushed around the ball park of 270hp and up (pending on milage and condition of the motor) imagin what a KA24 would put out (mabe 350). Then it would be no contest favoring the 240. IF you want a fare race both cars would have to be kept N/A.

Well, my brother has the V-tec model, not the Si then. It has an H22.

I'd say the Lude's been driven harder. The 240 not so much...

Ugh... NOT ONE person mentions what is gonna make the difference in this race.

GEARING

The lude has more power, similar weight, wider powerband (good topend), and it has quicker gearing than the 240.

There is no reason why the lude won't destroy the 240. An SOHC is at best a 16.5 car, the Lude is a 15.6 or so car.

Equal drivers, lude will win.

I've driven both the 240sx and the lude, even the non vtex lude at 160hp would put a hurtin on the 89 240sx, a 91+ may be a closer match.

I haven't even been on this board all that long and I've seen this question too many times.

Stock for stock, driver for driver skill, the vtec Prelude will win without a contest.
